FRA IT & FLIGHT PLANNING – updated 16 December 2016

Entry / Exit points (published in AIP) are required for flight planning to enter and / or to exitthe FRA area (above FL335) for overflights, international arrivals and internationaldepartures.

Overlying traffic: An overflight entering Italian airspace above FL335 have to put in the flightplan the FRA Entry Point, than the acronym DCT and the FRA Exit Point. ENTRY/ EXIT pointsfrom Marseille (see slides 8, 9) and Karlsruhe (see slide 10, 11) have to befollowed/preceded by "Intermediate" points in accordance with the RAD Restrictions.

Traffic with destination Italian airports: an entry point in Italian airspace (above FL335) thenacronym DCT followed by a point to cross at a level included between FL335 and FL265.Only for arrival traffic to the main airports (LIRF, LIRA, LIML, LIMC, LIME, LIPZ) transitionsegments have been published (via RAD Restriction reported in slided 5, 6 and 7) ascompulsory routing and published.

Departing traffic from Italian airports: the ATS network until the point between FL 265 andFL335 to proceed DCT to the exit point from Italian airspace (above FL335)

Domestic flight: to enter in FRA the ATS network until an intermediate point between FL 265and FL335 to proceed DCT to another intermediate point

The intermediate points (published in AIP) are used to connect the ATS network with theFree Route Area. They are also used in the FRA area to indicate a change of level, a change ofdirection or a mandatory routing required by RAD.

Restrictions LILI500A and LILI500D describe the vertical connectivity

No Planning Zone: two areas have been published within which is not allowed to plan FRtrajectories, in order to avoid short crossings of multiple national ACCs (see slide 4)
