They are talking about things that have been on in previous weeks and also whats coming up at Franklin. Mark: Tanisha: Hi my name is Tanisha Young, Im in Year 5. I love to play with my two best friends Jess B and Katie Markopoulos because they are really fun to play with. My favourite part of school is the oval because we get to run around with our friends. Last Thursday the Debating team - Jessica Martin, Maddie Thatcher, Maddie Piper and Rangi Keefe- Horo went to Tumut Public School to compete in debating with Mr Barton, and they did very well. Jessica Martin said, The topic was All Year 6 students should babysit their younger siblings. It was a difficult topic, and we were arguing in the affirmative. While we didnt win on the day we will be back to seek revenge, she joked. Earlier this week Mr Woodward and Mrs Stuckey went to Sydney for a meeting with the head of the Education Department and a group of teachers. The meeting was about how every student is known, valued and cared for in our schools. Mr Woodward and students made a video to show how we do this at Franklin. Everyone was impressed at the level of care we provide at our school. We should be proud that our school was chosen to participate in this forum. Last week we had really cool cupcakes for sale at lunch time for 50c and $1. The money raised went towards the Cancer Council. Thank you Mrs Somerville and Oxley for organising the sale and thank you parents for bringing cupcakes in. Hello my name is Mark I am in Year 5. I have a brother, 4 dogs and 3 birds. My closest friends in class are Wade, AJ, Preston and Matthew. At school I like fitness, I am the Sports Captain for Forest and I love the job. Well, lets get to the news. Bike and scooter day was held last Wednesday. Over 200 students brought their bikes and scooters to school. We learned about riding safely on the footpath and the road. We all had a lot of fun when we went to the oval to practice our riding and safety. I really hope this happens again next year. Thanks to Mr Reddy for organising this. Also on Wednesday (it was a busy day) we had the Stage 3 Public Speaking competition. The main topic was Multiculturalism. Students then spoke about different parts of multiculturalism in Australia. All students went well but there could only be two winners and they were the two Jessicas - Jessica Martin and Jessica Frowd. Best of luck next week to both Jessica's. On Friday we had Footsteps again after a couple of weeks break. It was great fun. We have a disco on this Thursday where we can show off our dancing skills. We are also learning our moves for the school concert in Term 3. More on that soon. Thanks for reading Student Voice.

This term in 5/6 Macarthur we have been honing our multiplication skills during mathematics lessons.

We have been engaged in many different types of lessons to help us practice a number of strategies that we can use to multiply larger numbers!

Cupcake Drive Thank You!

Oxley have raised $403.50 for the Cancer Council from their

Biggest Morning Tea cupcake drive. A BIG thank you to eve-
