About the INSTRUCTOR…

Frauke Higgins was born and raised in Northern Germany. She began her music training in Early Childhood Music and Instrumental Studies at the Conservatory in Trossingen (Germany). She continued with her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark and graduated with a Masters Degree in Music (MM) in 1989.

Frauke moved to the United States in 1990 and developed her own Early Childhood Music Program. She has worked with young children for 21 years and loves the enthusiasm her young students bring to class. She also teaches piano and flute lessons to older students. She has been an Early Childhood Music Instructor in the Shepherd University Department of Music Preparatory Division since 2004.

Mrs. Higgins lives with her husband and two children in Hagerstown, MD.

Session 1: FRIDAYS, September 14 – October 19 Session 2: FRIDAYS, October 26 - December 6

Session 1 10:00-10:45 AM MUSICAL DISCOVERIES Ages 18 mos.-3 yrs. (with parent/caregiver) This interactive class for children and parents will introduce the young student to the rudiments of music. The class will explore songs, echo songs, creative movement, rhythm instruments, rhymes, and finger-play. REGISTRATION  FEE:  $72  per  student  –  6  weeks    10:45-11:30 AM DALCROZE EURYTHMICS Ages 4-6yrs. Children will learn to express the elements of music (such as rhythm, time, tempo, melody, pitch and dynamic) through movement. The movement activities will be accompanied by piano. Students will also work on their singing voice (using solfege) and they will play many different Orff instruments during the lesson. REGISTRATION  FEE:  $72  per  students  –  6  weeks
