Worthy Presidents Message:

I am extremely honored and privileged to serve as your Worthy President of Aerie # 4123 for the 2016-2017 year. As I look forward to making this to a year as successful as the last year, it is fitting that I recognize the accomplishments of the outgoing board of officers led by Past Worthy President, Ellis Ramsey. Their outstanding efforts resulted in AERIE #4123 raising and donating thousands of dollars to many deserving causes and charities. Our board of Trustees’ tireless efforts led by chairman Mike Courtney enabled the rest of us to enjoy an Eagles facility that continues to be second to none. Thanks very much Trustees. I am confident that the incoming board of Trustees will continue to keep up the good work. F.O.E. AERIE #4123 supported many athletic teams and events throughout the year. From golf to karate and most anything in between, Aerie #4123 epitomized our motto "People Helping People". My thanks go to our sports committee chairman, David Limerick. I would like to personally thank all of those dedicated members who have worked the Bingo nights on Wednesdays and Sundays. Without your help, the great successes noted in this newsletter could not have been possible. It is important for all members to know that Bingo is our most valuable source of the funds that enable the Aerie to continue our good works. I strongly encourage all members to take a little time this year to come out and work just one evening of Bingo. Special recognition goes to Ellis Ramsey and Elsie Williams for stepping forward upon the resignation of our bingo manager and taking on the all-important bingo manager job. It would take most of this news letter to personally identify all those brothers and sisters who have donated their time, money, and/or efforts to make Aerie #4123 the best AERIE in the entire Fraternal Order of Eagles organization. For all of you who participated in the past year I thank you and hope you will see fit to once again volunteer during the year ahead. I value each and every one of you and would greatly appreciate your help in making the next year successful. I would be remiss if didn't recognize our ladies auxiliary for all of the great things they do for this Aerie. I cannot say enough about their outstanding accomplishments throughout the past year as there are just too many to state in this newsletter. A simple "Thanks" is all I have to offer and I look forward to working with you this year ahead. As always, membership is the key to the success of AERIE #4123 and I ask that each every member sign up just one new member this year. If you know of any brothers who have allowed their membership expire, please encourage them to re-enroll or at least ask why they have left our fraternity so as we can address potential unknown issues. Finally, special "CONGRATULATIONS” to brother Jerry Sullivan who will be assuming the leadership of all Fraternal Order of Eagles as our GRAND AERIE PRESIDENT for 2016-2017. I am sure I speak for the entire Aerie when I say we are extremely proud of you and wish you outstanding success. Fraternally yours, Bob Overkott

Worthy President

Message from Madam President:

Ann Marie Beverly

Auxiliary 4123

It’s summer, Hot, busy and FUN! Our new slate of Officers, have taken their seats and are working hard. We have held State Convention here at our home with our own David Limerick wrapping up his year as State Worthy President and we have a number of members headed to the National Convention to celebrate our own Jerry Sullivan as he becomes our Grand Worthy President. Just a reminder, Auxiliary meetings are the first and third Thursday of every month. I know how busy our lives get but, the best way to really know what is going on would be to be there. Meetings don’t work for you? You can still be active by volunteering in social and fundraising activities. Upcoming events will always be announced along with the name of the chair person. To volunteer in any way, contact the chair person. I am truly honored to serve this year with a wonderful group of ladies and looking forward to meeting and serving with even more. Together we are People Helping People !

The scholarship program has once again provided high school graduating seniors with the financial help they need to attend colleges and universities. Our donations totaling $19,500 will enable students from thirteen Fredericksburg area high schools to strive to attain a college degree. I would like to recognize the scholarship committee for taking their time to present these scholarships to the seniors at each high school's academic awards presentation events.

Thanks to Halle Diamond, David and Sue Limerick, Joe Szadvari, Walter "Moose" Embrey, Raymond Loving, James McKeithan, and Jeff Chaney.

The winners of the scholarships were awarded as follows:

It is my pleasure to post the following letter of appreciation from a 2014 award recipient. Sometimes there is great reward in what we do. The letter follows: My name is Katherine Maguire Morad and I received a scholarship from your organization as a King George senior in 2014. I wanted to follow-up and let you know that I will be graduating with honors from Germanna Community College on May 12th with my AAS in Police Science as planned. Originally I wanted to be a K-9 officer but I have since become very interested in law. As you can see from my email address, I have been accepted to VCU and will start in the Fall pursuing my BS in Criminal Justice. After that, I hope to attend the William and Mary School of Law. I wanted to thank you and all the members for awarding me the scholarship that started me on this journey. Thank you!

Worthy President Bob Overkott presents a check to Team Power Kix

Auxiliary Office Hour Changes

Effective July 1, 2016:

Monday – 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday – 6 to 8 pm

1st & 3rd Thursdays from 3:30 – 6:30 pm

Closed July 4th

Closed July 13th through July

25th for the International Convention.

Thanks in part to our sponsorship, Team Power Kix taekwondo will enable over the young athletes pictured above to compete in the AAU National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida during the first week of July. This past year, our donation enabled Team Power Kix coached by Master Arlene Limas, 1988 Olympic gold medalist in Tae Kwon Do, to place eleven of these athletes on the U.S. national team more commonly referred to as Team USA. These eleven are now representing the USA in competitions around the globe and doing extremely well judging by the amount of gold, silver, and bronze medals they displayed at a special banquet held at the Aerie earlier this year.

To cap things off, Team Power Kix and Aerie #4123 were able to host the AAU Regional Qualifier Champion- ships in our ballroom where no less than six rings were set up for the competition attended by a capacity crowd. Thanks to the Club Manager, Chrissy Clift and Lori Bullock along with all of the kitchen staff who pulled off this event despite being short staffed at the last minute. The AAU officials were very impressed and expressed their appreciation for AERIE #4123 making this a tremendously successful event.

Auxiliary News The auxiliary has partnered with Stafford County S.E.R.V.E.
