At their June and July meetings, theCity Council unanimously con-firmed Mayor Mary Schamehorn’sreappointment of Esther Williamsand Troy Russell to the Parks &Recreation Commission; SherylBremmer to the Budget Committee;Esther Williams to the CommunityCenter Advisory Committee; JohnMorgan and Mary Hedges to theLibrary Board; appointment ofPatricia Soltys to the Water ResourceCommittee; and Diana Brown to theBudget Committee and Committeefor Citizen Involvement, accordingto City Manager Matt Winkel.The City Council also unanimouslyreappointed Sheryl Bremmer andNancy Noble Post to the PlanningCommission.All committee and commissionterms are for four years, except forBudget Committee members, whoseterms are for three years, and withthe exception of appointments to fillout the remainder of a term thatbecomes vacant due to a mid-termresignation.
There are still three vacancies on thenine-member Water ResourceCommittee, Winkel said. The maxi-mum of four outside-city residentpositions are already filled, so thethree vacancies would have to befilled by inside-city residents.In addition, two vacancies still existon the seven-member Committee forCitizen Involvement. When I learned that our local yarn shop, The Wool Co. is for sale, I
found out that i want to become the person that owns it next. I only
have a smidgen of the talent and knowledge about yarn that the present owners have, so I am
hoping that there are enough of you out there who will want to spend
2-10 hours a week working in the store, mostly to be on hand to
pass along yourknowledge to customers.
The Wool Company is located now at 990 2nd St. S.E. Finding a new
location may also be a part ofbecoming its owner, that and many things are up in the air at present.
The most important of these for me is knowing that there are people
who will wish to work there with me, The pay will be low, a store
discount would be a part of it for sure, mostly I think we will all find that being around yarn and people who love yarn will be quite joyful.
