Construction: This project uses precise 1/4” seams. To test yourseam allowance, accurately cut (2) 1-1/2” x 3” rectangles. Stitch them together along the 3”length. At the midpoint, measure across the unit. It should be exactly 2-1/2” wide. If not, adjust your seam allowance and repeat.

1. Place (2) 3-3/8" squares of Large Star Pointsface down on two opposite corners of a 6-1/4"square of Background. Draw a diagonal line through the center. Stitch an accurate 1/4" on each side ofthe drawn line. Make (12,24,48,64).

2. Cut the Step 1 units apart on the drawn line andpress toward the LargeStar Point triangles asshown.

3. Position a 3-3/8" square of Large Star Point rightsides together on the Background corner of eachStep 2 unit. Draw a diagonal line fromcorner to corner. Stitch an accurate1/4" seam along both sides of thedrawn line. Make (24,48,96,128).

4. Cut on the drawn line of the Step 3 units, andpress toward the Large Star Point. This unit measures 5-1/2" x 3" from raw edge toraw edge. Make (48,96,192,256).

5. Lay out the large stars with the Step 4 units, the5-1/2" fussy cut squares and the 3" squares ofBackground. Sew these star together. Make(12,24,48,64).

6. Keeping the diagonals exactly as shown, sew a2-1/2" square of Small Star Point to each end of the2-1/2" x 10-1/2" Background. Trim the excess fromthe ends, and press toward the Small Star Point.Make (31,58,110,144).

7. Watching the angle of the diagonal, stitch a 2-1/2" square of Small Star Point to the upper left cor-ner of 3" x 12-1/2" Background. Trim the excessfrom the corner and press toward the Small StarPoint. Make (14,20,28,32).

8. Watching the angle of the diagonal, stitch a 2-1/2" square of Small Star Point to the upper left cor-ner of 3" x 5" Background. Trim the excess fromthe corner and press toward the Small Star Point.Make (4,4,4,4).

9. Layout the Stars and sashing, including the 2-1/2" squares of Roses cut from the stripe. The 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" pieces are the sashing. The 3" x 12-1/2" pieces go around the outer edge.The 3" x 5" pieces are in the outer corners.

10. Sew the top together. Press gently.

11. Attach the Ornament Stripe Borders. Begin andend at the 1/4” seam allowance at each corner, andleave a 7” miter ‘tail’ extending.

12. Place a corner to miter on your ironingboard, with the border that is lying horizontal extending to the right, and the one that is verticalon top of it and extending up. Fold the top extending border diagonally under and positionso it is exactly on top of the one extending to theright. When satisfied it iscorrect, smash itwith the iron.

13. Use a pin or two to hold the mitered cornerin place. From the underside, stitch in thepressed crease. Check to see that it’s correctand if it is, trim the excess from the seam to 1/4”.Press these seams open. Repeat Steps 12-13for each of the corners to bemitered.

14. Layer your quilt and prepare to quilt yourmasterpiece. You might like to detail the images.

15. Bind with the 2-1/2 Lace Tonal strips, follow-ing the instructions with the Binding Miter Tool.There is also a video demo of this terrific tool atwww.YouTube.com
