Teachersareentitledtofreedomintheclassroomindiscussingtheirsubject,buttheyshouldbecarefulnottointroduceintotheirteachingcontroversialmatterwhichhasnorelationtotheirsubject.

Collegeanduniversityteachersarecitizens,membersofalearnedprofession,andofficersofaneducationalinstitution.Whentheyspeakorwriteascitizens,theyshouldbefreefrominstitutionalcensorshipordiscipline,buttheirspecialpositioninthecommunityimposesspecialobligations.Asscholarsandeducationalofficers,theyshouldrememberthatthepublicmayjudgetheirprofessionandtheirinstitutionbytheirutterances.Hencetheyshouldatalltimesbeaccurate,shouldexerciseappropriaterestraint,shouldshowrespectfortheopinionsofothers,andshouldmakeeveryefforttoindicatethattheyarenotspeakingfortheinstitution
