I can’t remember so many events and games that rain has caused so many problems or even the threat of storms and rain will keep fans away. Our Titans had a Saturday night with Tampa Bay. The Sounds were home. Lots of sports. In exciting high school football, I had many calls about the Gallatin, Springfield game with the Jackets showing the most points on the board at games end. Many Green and Gold folks were vocal about some calls. Purple Panthers were winners, White House starting out hot, Westmoreland big win. Bob Pritchett tells us Franklin/Simpson super over Bowling Green East. Mt Juliet looked great, Lebanon squeaked by Trousdale County..but remember the Jackets playing without their star quarterback..but the game was close. Macon County a threat this year. Wilson Central looks to a good season. Jerry Joslin and his Goodpasture groups big winners, Beech will be in the hunt for honors, Station Camp young, just like Heritage of White House. Upperman High in Baxter upset the big Cookeville Cavaliers. The Hendersonville team working a new system loses this week. Cumberland University, Lebanon, Dewayne Alexander and his Tennessee Tech Eagles fired up. Austin Peay has everybody ready. Looks like the area will get their major league soccer team. Hot Rods pro baseball team will be back in Bowling Green. In golf, Snedeker is hot, but watch for Tiger coming back. I saw Eddie Sherlin and he in-formed me, Union, and the Great Roy Jackson, that the movie ‘More Than A Game’ will happen on the big screen. I broadcast football and basketball games many years, some on WHIn radio owned by the Perkins/Baker families with Randy Woods who was a major player in the world of music, and for many years owned Randy’s Record Shop in Gallatin. That was the biggest mail order company in the south, plus sold many from his Gallatin store. now there is talk of tearing the store down. I think this area, or even the country, should help restore Randy Woods store. It did as much publicity as anything ever in our area. Talk to Gallatin council on how we should help save Randy’s Records. Randy kept me in Gallatin by helping buy 104.5 so we could broadcast live sports and it kept me in Gallatin. I shall never forget those years and no matter were you went to school, I bet we did some of your sports.Vanderbilt starting a fund raiser to expand football and basketball facilities. So much more to talk about. We hopefully will visit many other sports happenings next week. BTW, bull riding and big crowds at Bridgestone....Pope John Paul and Station Camp big winners in high school play. Pro soccer next weekend in nashville.
