Freedom Will Happen

Sam Rockwell was only 23 when he was drafted. After going through the shock of being drafted and training camp, Sam was a different man. He was molded into a new person. Sam had become a spy, trained to be behind enemy lines. Sam had a mission; his mission was to befriend Adolf Hitler. He was supposed to gather information from him about the concretion camps and their location. He knew what was at stake. It was a bright early sunny morning when Sam woke up. He was 25 and in good shape. He was nervous, scared, and excited. He received his mission the day before and was going to start it today by going to Germany. He had learned how to speak German fluently in school. He would also have a German uniform he would have to wear around Hitler and other Germans to make it seem as if he was German. He was scared about meeting Hitler. He had recently went through a test to become a personal bodyguard. As soon as he walked in he would have to be searched, because of that he could not carry a weapon until he proved himself to Hitler. He was told that he would have to be prepared to escape at any moment. He would be given a new name. The name would be Fritz.

Sam had gotten ready to go. The uniform was a little uncomfortable but he would get used to it. He heard a knock on his door. It was his friend Max; they had met in training camp. He saved Max’s life at one point.

“Cab is here, ready to go?” Max asked.“One second,” Sam said.Sam took one last look at the room and then walked out the door. He checked his

pocket to make sure he still had the ID he got in the mail. He had written letters to his family and friends and sent them the night before. He told them he was leaving but could not tell them why in case the letters were intercepted. He could not say anything about his mission to anyone. On the plane he went over the details in his head. He was supposed to befriend Hitler, find out information about the concretion camps and their locations. He was told not to harm Hitler in any way. He would be right next to Hitler almost all the time. He had only two weeks then he would have to be pulled out because the Americans were going to attack the base he would be at.

The flight attendant walked around and said five minutes until landing. After the plane landed he collected his bags and went outside to get that car that was left for him. He found it easily. It was a sports car. He had been given an address to go to. He had a map provided for him in the car. He found the location easily. When he got there he parked his car and walked in. It was a huge military base there. Everyone had to be checked in. The only way to get in was with a pass. Sam got one in the mail so he could get in. The guard stopped him and checked over his pass.

“How did you get this?” the guard asked.“It was sent to me in the mail,” Sam said.“You may go in,” the guard said.Sam had gotten worried. He was afraid he was going to accidentally mess up on

his German. It was the first time he had spoken German in a long time. He walked in then went through the second part of security. He was patted down. He was allowed to pass.

He was told to go to sector C. He went up to a guard and said.“Can you tell me how to get to sector C?” Sam

asked a guard.

“Go through the door over there and take a right.” the guard said.“Thank you.” Sam said.Sam had more confidence in his German. He followed the instructions the guard

gave him and walked through the door. Sitting there on the other side of the room was thee Adolf Hitler. The one who had ordered hundreds of Jews to be killed.

“Hello Fritz.” Hitler said.“Hello.” Sam said back.“How was the trip?” Hitler asked.Hitler thought Sam was coming in from another part of Germany.“Good thank you.” Sam replied.“Let’s get down to business. As you know you are not carrying a weapon. That is

because you have not proved yourself to me. To do that you have to follow my every command. Do you understand?” Hitler questioned.

“I understand.” Sam replied.“Good, now let me show you your room, it’s right next to mine. I assume you’re

tired?” Hitler asked.“Yes I am tired.” Sam said.To his surprise Sam was tired. It had been a long plane ride and he had a long day.

When he got to his room he found a mattress, a window and a nightstand with a lamp.“I will have someone fetch you sheets.” Hitler said.“Thank you.” Sam replied. While laying in bed Sam thought about the concretion camps and their conditions.

The Jews where almost never fed, they used pans as pillows, and they lived in rags. They were put in a chamber with gas to kill them. The conditions where no wheres close to human.

Sam woke up and got dressed. He found that his breakfast was already laid out. Sam ate then walked out the door. There was an escort there waiting for him. He was led into a room filled with filing cabinets.”Adolf will be with you shortly,” the escort said. He searched through the filing cabinets and found a file that said Concretion Camps on it.

Sam saw his chance. As soon as the escort left he looked through the file and read it. He memorized everything and put it down right before the door opened. He knew now was not the right chance to escape.

A week later he said he was going to the bathroom. After he got out of the room he went toward the gate to get out. He went through security and got his car then left. He knew that at any moment he could be discovered.

With much luck, he got back to his American base and gave his commander the information. They were shocked he was able to complete the mission in less than a month.

He went back to his tent and relaxed. He couldn’t help but think about the lives he may have saved. When he first herd about the Holocaust and what happened to a ton of Jews he thought it was really bad. But now ho was terrified of the thought of being in a Concretion Camp.

Author’s Note

In the story Freedom will Happen the time period occurs during the Holocaust. The Holocaust took place from 1939-1945. Approximately 6 million Jews died during the Holocaust. This period in history was when the Germans imprisoned the Jews in Concretion Camps all across Europe. Adolph Hitler was the one who spearheaded the Holocaust.

The Holocaust was also during WWII. Germany was the reason for the Holocaust. What started WWII was when Hitler started forming a huge Army and invaded Poland. Hitler was successful in invading Poland. Hitler had a dream about controlling the world. He was the leader of Germany. Hitler tried to rid the world of Jews by putting them in Concretion Camps.

A Concretion Camp was a prison-like camp that the Germans had made and they through the Jewish people inside and they would do back-breaking work inside them. The camps had men, women, and children all together with tight quarters. The conditions were inhumane. When a concretion camp was taken over by the Americans and the Jews were set free it was called liberation or a camp was liberated. The concretion camp was designed to kill the Jewish people and wipe their heritage out.

Hitler disliked the Jews for many reasons. One of them was that Hitler thought that only blond haired Christians should live.

The Jews in Germany were impacted in a big way. The Jews in other parts of the world were impacted too. Hitler targeted Jews in Germany by profiling how they looked. If they did not have blond hair and blue eyes they were in danger of being thrown into concretion camps.

This period should be remembered and reflected on so we do not forget. Innocent people were tortured and killed because of a grudge that was not valid. The Holocaust was a tragic time for everyone. It must not happen again.
