The only technology available to monitor for and detect
tobacco smoke and marijuana smoke in real time
Improving lives through novel sensor technology
FreshAir Smoking Detection System
Overview
1
Smoking Detection
We help clients detect and prevent unauthorized smoking with the only technology available to monitor for and specifically detect marijuana smoke and tobacco smoke in real time.
Our Wi-Fi enabled detection devices and monitoring services are widely deployed in apartments, hotels, and schools to detect smoking and certify no-smoking environments.
When someone smokes, we provide you with an alert and timestamped chart of the incident, giving you the scientific proof you need to enforce your no-smoking policy.
Our devices are not fooled by candles, incense, burned food, or other typical excuses from smokers.
We help you:
• create safer, cleaner, and healthier experiences for guests, residents, and students, improving satisfaction;
• collect cleaning fees from non-compliant guests and residents, and in some cases, increase fees;
• win 100% of credit card chargebacks and avoid court cases;
• save money on cleaning and avoid lost room revenue or rent due to smoke damage; and
• mitigate risks of catastrophic damage from smoking-related fires.

“FreshAir lets us create a cleaner, more pleasant environment for guests while adding revenue.”
- Casino Hotel Rooms Executive, Detroit, MI
We monitor your FreshAir devices 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When someone smokes, we send a timestamped alert, notifying you of the incident’s time and place.
Our web portal and mobile app log scientific proof of your smoking events (example below), allowing you to easily collect all of your cleaning fees. We have a 100% success rate on contested charges.

Alert Report
FreshAir Devices
FreshAir devices plug into standard North American (type B) outlets and connect to our cloud-based monitoring platform via your Wi-Fi network. We constantly monitor your spaces for both tobacco smoke and marijuana smoke, though alerts do not distinguish between substances.

“Before FreshAir, it was really tough to find a solution for guests smoking inside my rentals.”
- Cyrus Nambakhsh, Owner, Cyrus Nambakhsh Rentals, Ontario, Canada
Monitored Areas
How many FreshAir devices do I need? Each FreshAir device can cover an open area up to 500 square feet. If a monitored area is larger, or easily sectioned off by doors, you will need multiple devices to completely cover the space.
If I smell smoke, will FreshAir devices also pick it up? Not always. Our sensors are sensitive and specific. We detect specific molecular components contained in tobacco smoke and marijuana smoke within monitored areas. Our devices are not designed to detect smoking in adjacent rooms, hallways, or stairwells.

Key Considerations
Minimum Order: Most of our clients are hotels, property management companies, and schools. Clients must subscribe to a minimum of 50 devices, but special exceptions can be made if a property doesn’t require that quantity. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to discuss an exception.
Wi-Fi: Clients must have Wi-Fi that supports our technology for sending data to our monitoring platform. Please verify your Wi-Fi network meets the specifications listed on page 8.
Center-screw outlets: Each FreshAir device comes with a tamper-proof screw that secures it to center-screw outlets. Receptacles with top/bottom screws (called “decora plugs”) cannot use this screw, so we recommend switching to center-screw outlets prior to installation.
Installation location: Devices must be indoors in a climate-controlled setting and should not be installed on a switched outlet or extension cord. We provide installation guidance instructions and are happy to assist with device placement recommendations based on area size and layout.
