SIXTH FORMERS, BEN WOODBURN AND TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD, MAKE LFC HISTORY

Ben Woodburn became LFC's youngest ever goal-scorer, during Tuesday 29th

November's game with Leeds United. The 17-year-old broke former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen's record, beating him to the title. 18-year-old Trent

Alexander-Arnold, named Man of the Match, inciting Former Liverpool footballer, Jamie Carragher, to label him the “perfect full-back” after playing in Liverpool’s 2-0 EFL Cup victory over Leeds United.

The evening was made even more special for Rainhill High School when, at half time, the LFC Academy U14 team were presented with the winner’s

Trophy that they won in Vilnius, Lithuania.

John Pout, Rainhill’s Headteacher said; “This Leeds match was very special for the students and staff at Rainhill High School. Our partnership with Liverpool is the largest and most academically successful in the Premier League. I am delighted that the manager is giving so many young players the opportunity. It is testament to the excellent work of Liverpool FC’s Academy. I am especially pleased for Ben and Trent who have both done so well. They are still very young and need to carry on working hard at their football and their Sixth Form studies.”

ADVANCE NOTICE – YEAR 8 Learning Programme – Assessment Week 1 From Thursday 1st December to Tuesday 13th December 2016 (inclusive) all students in Year 8 will be undertaking assessments in the subjects they are currently studying. It

should be noted that all assessments are cumulative and therefore based potentially on

anything that your son/daughter has studied during this academic year to date.

The Year 8 assessment will be based on a substantive piece of work in their subject from

which a teacher is able to give a fine GCSE grade (1 to 9). Year 8 students will complete their examinations in their classrooms under exam conditions.

Please see below the exam timetable so your son/daughter is aware of when their

examinations take place. Please could you encourage and support your son/daughter to

prepare thoroughly for these exams as they will give them a good indication of the progress

they have made to date.

I have included some guidance around revision and preparing effectively for exams. For example, in the lead up to the examinations your son/daughter should be completing

approximately 2 hours of independent revision per day. Your son/daughter should be very

clear about what is being examined from their class teacher.

I have asked all teaching staff to set revision homework via Show My Homework for the next

few weeks until the examinations have been sat which your son/daughter should record in their planner.

I trust that you find this information useful and that we are able to best work together to

ensure that your son/daughter continues to make progress in all the subjects they are

studying. Mr Cunningham, Deputy Head Teacher - Director of Studies

YEAR 8 INTER-HOUSE NETBALL The girls have made a fantastic start to the season, remaining in all fixtures leading up to the St Helens tournament which took place last week.

Both the A and B team travelled to Sutton Academy full of excitement and a slight reputation to deal with!

‘A’ team won all their fixtures to send them in to the semi-final, then beating Cowley to advance to the final! They faced their familiar rivals De La Salle in the final and

unfortunately lost out 3-1, but travelled home with Silver medals! They now qualify for the Merseyside tournament after Christmas at Wirral Grammar

School where they will be aiming to better their Bronze Medal performance from last year!!

‘B’ team narrowly missed out on a semi-final place by 1 goal!! Winning one

fixture and losing another, they are going from strength to strength and are playing some great netball.

Well done girls!

Christmas dinner will be served on

Thursday 15th December.

NOVEMBER MATHS REVISION - YEAR 11 - SOLUTIONS

See the solutions for last month’s Maths Revision questions below.

REVISION TIPS Using your revision notes – During a revision session. Choose a topic to revise and find your revision notes for this topic.

Read the notes through, and as you do this try to recreate the whole topic

in your mind.

Place the notes face down and write out, or in the case of patterned notes

redraw, what you can remember.

Compare what you have written down to what is written in your notes and

check for anything you may have missed out.

If you have left out some important details, test yourself again.

If you need extra detail you can always refer back to your original notes.

During spare moments

Carry some of your revision cards around with you.

You can read them on the bus, in the car, during lunch time or break, when you are waiting in the corridor at school or during odd spare

moments at home.

After reading a revision card, try to recall the information in your mind.

The cost of a Christmas dinner

will be £0.00
