CAPE-TASTIC!

On Monday Reception had their very own

Superhero Day. The children were encouraged to

design a cape over the half term break that

reflected their very own super powers. The capes

were fantastic and reflected the children's

personalities, as well as the hard work and effort

they had clearly put into designing and making

them. The children loved taking part in a variety of superhero-inspired

activities throughout the day and wowed us all with their positivity.

I made my cape at Nana and Pops’ house.

It has J for Joey and my superpowers are

sharing and kindness. Joey

My cape is yellow and green and my

superpower is climbing. It was fun. Lina

DIWALI

Yesterday was Diwali, the festival of lights that is celebrated

by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains around the world. Diwali is a

celebration of new beginnings and light plays a very

important part in the festivities. The lights and diya lamps remind Hindus of

the journey made by Rama and Sita back to their home after Rama defeated

Ravana in a battle lasting ten days, followed by Rama rescuing Sita from

Ravana’s prison. The deeper meaning of this story is that goodness will win

over bad, and the lights are symbolic of this.

Diwali is special to me because we celebrate as a family. My mum makes

special snacks and we light Diyas. My mum brought lanterns for everybody in

Year 3 to make to take home. I enjoyed celebrating Diwali with my class, and

making the lanterns was really fun. Ansh
