Thousands of students inDelhi and several other citiestoday protested against thearrest of JNUSU leaderKanhaiya Kumar who hasdirectly approached theSupreme Court for bail even asa senior lawyer accused DelhiPolice of collusion with hisattackers in Patiala House courtviolence.
Even after two spells of vio-lence in the last two days, thelawyers including VikramChauhan who brazenly defiedSupreme Court orders to assaultKumar and journalists contin-ued to be free.
The lawyers’ body in Delhidistrict courts virtually came indefence of the attackers in blackrobes in the Patiala Housecourts, including Chauhan whowas garlanded in Karkardoomacourts, to whose bar he belongs.
Claiming that certain “out-siders” in lawyers’ robesindulged in violence, theCoordination Committee of allDistrict Court Bar Associationsdemanded a “fair” inquiry intothe incidents.
BJP MLA O P Sharma, whowas involved in Monday’s vio-lence, was detained by DelhiPolice but was bailed out a littlelater.(PTI)
