available at the Pavilion in the Fiddle Park. Price per meal: Adults $13.00.

10:30 PM FREE! Dance the night away at the Pavilion with The Country Versatiles Band and many of
the top fiddlers in Canada today.

Fiddle and Stepdance fans are invited to enjoy a weekend of exciting, high-level competitions, excellent entertainment, food and camping, in our first-class facility. A wide range of FREE activities are planned to make this an unforgettable weekend. This is a weekend you don’t want to miss! Plan to bring your family, friends, fiddles and shoes!

WEEKEND PASSES – not available for 2018!There will be NO ADMISSION fee for the Saturday 6:30 pm finals and show! Free will donations will be gladly accepted at the doors. Entry for the preliminaries on Friday evening and Saturday morning can be paid at the door for each event. For your convenience there will be a wristband sold for both Friday and Saturday daytime preliminaries for $20. The wristband can only be purchased at the camping registration table or at the front door of the contest. This will allow easy entry at the Rear Camping Door of the arena.
FIDDLE PARK• Camping among mature trees.• Sites available from Wednesday June 27th at 2 p.m. to
Monday, July 2nd at 12 noon.• The entrance to the fiddle park for campers is next to the
arena off the Memorial Hall/arena parking lot. Campers arriving before 2 pm on Wednesday, June 27th are asked to park in the Memorial Hall/arena parking lot until the gate opens. Positively no admittance to campground before 2 pm on Wednesday.
• Central washrooms and showers.• Hydro and water available (limited access after 4 pm
on Sunday). • No amps allowed other then those required for electric
pianos and bass guitars. These may be used at the discretion of the committee.

* Entrance to the fiddle park between Queen’s Park and the Arena
STEPDANCE RULES1. Solo contestants in the 13-15, 16-18 and Open class are required to
dance a clog, jig, reel in that order, without stopping. All other solo contestants must dance a reel only. Contestants in group dancing may use any step dance routine, not necessarily a clog, jig, reel.
2. Solo contestants must complete their dance within four minutes. Maximum time for group dancing is five minutes.
3. NOTE! All Open Stepdance finalists will be required to use the House Fiddler for the finals on Saturday evening. Each contestant will select a sealed envelope containing their tunes (Clog 32 bars, Jig 48 bars, and three Reels 32 bars each). The contestant will write their name on the chosen envelope along with any speed requirements and if an extra beat (shot) is required. No communication between the House Fiddler and the contestant will be allowed.
4. Three or more dancers make a group. No dancer may compete in more than one group.
5. The guidelines for judging (which are on the scoresheets) will be posted at the contest and are also available on our website under the link for the Rules.
FIDDLE RULES1. All fiddle contestants must play their tunes in the Canadian Style.
The Tune of Choice for the open fiddle class finals is exempted from this rule.
2. Contestants in the 9 & under class are required to play one tune (waltz, jig or reel). Duet fiddle classes must play two tunes of choice in harmony with different tempos.
3. All other contestants must play a waltz, jig and reel in that order within four minutes. Reels, hoedowns and hornpipes are acceptable tunes.
4. Open Fiddle Class finalists must play a different waltz, jig and reel from their preliminary performance as well as a fiddle tune of choice within a time limit of five minutes.
5. All competing fiddlers will be allowed the choice of either a piano or guitar for accompaniment. The accompanist will not be allowed to play the melody in any class while the fiddler competes. A standby piano accompanist will be available.
6. The guidelines for judging (which are on the scoresheets) will be posted at the contest and are also available on our webpage under the link for the Rules.

GENERAL RULES1. Contestants may enter one Solo Fiddle Class, one Solo Stepdance
Class, one Duet Fiddle Class and one Group Stepdance Class.2. Contestants must be ready to perform when called.3. All judges decisions are final.4. To qualify as a Jr. Group Stepdance the average age must be
under 13 years. (i.e. Divide the total ages of competitors by the number of participants in the group. For example, 12.7 or 12.8 etc. is considered 12 & under).
5. Proof of age may be requested.6. Any contestant having won first prize in any one class for 3
consecutive years will not be eligible to compete in that or any lower class in the 4th year.
7. Should an accident, beyond the performer’s control occur, he/she will be allowed to start the entire performance again.
8. Prize winning contestants who are tied must repeat their entire performance. Rule No. 2 will apply.
9. Contestant registrations are considered confidential. Performers must draw for position upon arrival. For continuity of the program the registration committee reserves the right to draw for competitor’s position when necessary.
10. If only enough contestants register to fill the number of finalists’ positions in any class, the rankings/scores from the preliminary and final performances will be combined to decide the winning positions.
11. Open Fiddle and Stepdance Classes are reserved for contestants with advanced skill and the committee reserves the right to monitor eligibility.
SPECIAL NOTE:
1. All winners declared during the preliminaries will be presented their prize money and trophy at that time. All 1st place winners will be required to perform in the Saturday night finals.
2. No written music is to be used by fiddle competitors on stage.3. Competitors for youngest fiddler trophy will have to play
a recognizable fiddle tune of at least two parts.4. Competitors for youngest dancer trophy will have
to independently execute formulated steps.
