Friday June 30, 2017 4 DISTRICTS STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: In order to curb the menace of illegal distilla- tion and sale of illicit Liquor, the sleuths of Excise Department, Excise Range Samba, lead by Susheel Bhat, Excise Inspector under the supervision of Varinder Singh Billowria, ETO, Excise Range, Samba conducted a series of raids at Ramgarh Randwa Tanda, Nai Basti and adjoining areas of Vijaypur. During the course of raids, 5 bottles of illicit liquor was recovered from the State land and destroyed on the spot. These raids were conducted under the directions of Mohd. Javed Khan, Excise Commissioner and Syed Muried Hussian Shah, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu. A ses- sion related to yoga and acupressure conducted by Dr.Tilak Raj. A lot of enthusiasm was there in the students. Ashish a well renowned social service worker conducted a session regarding general activities of life, such as speaking on the stage, singing , dancing etc to create self confidence. Youth participate in life skill education camp STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: Department of Information and Public Relations organised an awareness programme on CM's Super-50 Coaching Classes at Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Reasi on Thursday. Chief Education Officer Bishan Singh was chief guest on the occasion while Principal of the host school Sudershan Pandoh was the guest of honour. Over 70 students drawn from class 9thand 10th being taught under this innovative programme of the state gov- ernment attended the event. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest threw light on the topic and said that being one of the foremost initiatives of Chief Minister of J&K, Super-50 Free coaching has brought about positive changes in the education system to syner- gize quality education and career of stu- dents. He appreciated the efforts of the Information Department in providing platform to the students which encour- ages them to participate in extra-curricu- lar activities thereby boosting their confi- dence and help them face competitions. Students presented their views on the benefits of Super-50 free coaching for the students especially belonging to poor sec- tions or other who have no access with the formal education system. DFP's two-day awareness camp ends STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: Residents liv- ing near New DC Office Kishtwar are having tough time due to damage of potable water supply pipes. According to reports, around 30 families which are under severe threat to whom contam- inated water is being supplied by the department due to dam- age of supply pipes which are seen broken and leaking at many place due to which water supply gets polluted and the same contaminated water reaches consumers of the area. A resident of the area Roop Krishan Thakur said that they have left no stone unturned and still running from pillar to post to get the leakage of water pipes installed by PHE Department fixed. "No one is bothered about our problem and have turned deaf ears to our grievances, "he alleged. The people appealed to dis- trict administration and PHE Department to repair the leak- age of pipes as soon as possible otherwise they will be left with no other option but to hit the road. ‘PHE Department failed to provide safe water to residents’ STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) unit Samba hailed Health Minister for assuring to solve salary issue of employ- ees. Addressing a press confer- ence here on Thursday at District Hospital, District President, JKMEF Samba Kuldeep Dabgotra thanked Health Minister Bali Bhagat for giving written assurance to resolve the salary issue of 2211 account head of the health workers. He further said that the female multi- purpose health workers and some other staff members of the Health Department whose salaries are drawn under 2211 head had suf- fered a lot since more than two decades due to the non- payment of their salaries and they used to protest at directorate office for the timely release of their salaries on many occasions before the recent State wide protest as well but their issue was not addressed by any government. "Although the present gov- ernment took so much time to wake up but still the employees feel satisfied as they had got a written assur- ance by the Health Minister that their salary issue will be sorted out within one month period" he said . He also thanked all the paramedical staff of district Samba for their support and co-opera- tion and appealed to them to work with zeal and dedica- tion to take the department to the top rank again. Medical employees hail Health Minister for written assurance STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: The second meet- ing of the High Level Coordination Committee (HLCC) which has been set up for preparing a holistic plan for the development of Katra town, held at the Spiritual Growth Centre here reviewed the to-date status with regard to finalise integrated plans for the development of Katra town and its surroundings. Hirdesh Kumar, Commissioner Housing and Urban Development Department, Chairman of the HLCC, chaired the meeting. Those who partici- pated in the deliberations included A. K Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi and Arun Kumar Sharma, Director Local Bodies, Jammu; members of the HLCC; besides Anshul Garg, Additional CEO Shrine Board; Smita Sethi, Director Tourism, Jammu; H. H. Dutt, Joint Director (P and S), Housing and Urban Development Department; Dr. Arvind Karwani, Dy. Commissioner Housing and Urban Development Department directed the concerned officers of Municipal Committee, Katra for ensuring high class sanitation and cleanli- ness in Katra town and making it a model of being the most neat and clean town as millions of pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi from all over the country and beyond throng Katra every year. He also asked the Deputy Commissioner Reasi for preparing holistic plans by taking into its fold all the ongoing development schemes as well as those in the pipeline of various departments for ensuring integrated development and provision of civic amenities in Katra and its surround- ing areas. The HLCC meeting expressed satisfaction at the functioning of the two water ATMs already installed in Katra town and decided to put in place six more water ATMs in Katra town for providing RO water to pil- grims and other visitors at nominal rates. The meeting also reviewed the progress on the cam- paign launched for enlarging awareness for making Katra town and its surrounding areas completely polythene free and suggested for con- ducting more such cam- paigns. In this context, two kiosks have been set up, one each at Nomain Check Post and at Railway Station Katra by the Municipal Committee to provide biodegradable carry bags free of cost to the pil- grims. CEO of the Shrine Board informed that for efficient collection of garbage in Katra town an underground bin system the first such in J and K shall soon be installed. He added that 10 locations have been identi- fied for the purpose. He fur- ther informed that the Shrine Board is also shortly commencing work to install attractive railing along the central verge of the roads leading to Katra town; con- struct a circular road from Hansali via Bhumika Mandir to Panthal Road; reconstruct the old Darshani Deodi; install play equipments for children at Kundrorian Park (near Railway Station) and under- take other identified works worth Rs. 650 lakh. The HLCC also took stock of the progress on preparing of DPRs for various projects to be taken up in Katra town for construction and upgra- dation of lanes and drains, improvement of internal roads, solid waste and waste water management, power and water supply as well as improving other civic ameni- ties and stressed for envis- aged timeline completion of all the works. Development of Katra reviewed STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Flaying the district administration Udhampur for shielding MLA Ramnagar R.S Pathania despite dozens of criminal cases/FIRs and cor- ruption complaints lodged against him by the public, the Young Panthers unit of District Udhampur today appealed to the Governor and Chief Minister to order a high level probe into all com- plaints probe and pending cases against the "most noto- rious MLA". They held a protest at Salathia Chowk Udhampur for enquiry into all pending complaints per- taining to corruption, crimi- nal cases besides Disproportionate Assets (DA) raised by the said MLA. Addressing the gathering, Pushpinder Singh Vice President Young Panthers said that the MLA Ramnagar had been indulging in hooliganism, attacking workers of opposi- tion parties, harassing and intimidating Govt employ- ees, using physical force against the weaker and under privileged, breaking the inauguration plaques of erstwhile ministers/MLAs besides abusing his power and authority to extract ille- gitimate favours from the govt functionaries. He point- ed out the several FIRs had been registered against the delinquent MLA in various police stations but the authorities concerned were shielding the said MLA due to his political clout adding that while no action had been initiated against the MLA for his criminal con- duct, the workers of opposi- tion parties were being framed in false and frivolous cases as a part of victimisa- tion and vindictive polices of the notorious MLA. Tanantar Singh, senior Youth Leader further charged the district adminis- tration of playing to the tunes of BJP and the said MLA and indulging in parti- san behaviour to promote the political interests of BJP. He said that it was highly unbecoming of district administration to seek direc- tions from BJP leaders on day to day administrative matters. He regretted that even Deputy Commissioner Udhampur was being openly used by the corrupt BJP leaders particularly the MLA Ramnagar to settle scores with the JKNPP leaders. Calling upon offi- cers of district Udhampur to rise above bias and preju- dice, he said that all officers needed to respect the Civil Service Rules and Regulations and maintain impartiality in administra- tive functioning. Youth killed, two injured as vehicles collide STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: one person was killed while two others got injured when a speeding truck hit a Tata mobile near Chinar Theater in Udhampur. According to a report, a Tata mobile (JK14B-0891) was hit by a speeding Truck (JK02A-5142) near Chinar Theater on Jammu Srinagar National Highway resulting in three per- sons getting injuries. They were shifted to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared 20 years Jammet Ali son of Abhrahim resident of village Sangot in Kud as brought dead. While two others were identified as 39 years Rajinder Singh son of Amroo and 20 years Rakesh Kumar son of Susedh Khajuria residents of Kud. On seeing their condition critical both were referred to GMC Jammu. Rehmbal Police has registered a case for investigation. Man nabbed with 30 pouches of liquor STATE TIMES NEWS R S PURA: Police on Thursday arrested a bootlegger with illicit liquor in village Rattian of R S Pura. According to a police spokesman, Miran Sahib Police during a raid in village Rattian apprehended one person and recov- ered 30 pouches of liquor from his possession. The accused was carrying these pouches for illegal sale in the locality. In this regard, Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Miran Sahib and further investigation is going on. The arrest and recovery was made by SHO Miran Sahib Inspector Ravinder Singh Rakwal and In-Charge Border Police Post Kullian ASI Yougal Kishore. Four booked for fraud STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Police on Thursday booked four persons for fraudulently claiming death compensation in respect of a living person. According to the report, Abdul Samad and Anwar-ul-Haq, sons of Abdul Rehman submitted a claim to Assistant Labour Commissioner Poonch in 2014 that their father Abdul Rehman, son of Umer Baksh who was a construction worker died on 9th March, 2014. They demanded that assistance available under Building and Other Construction Works Welfare Board be paid to the family of deceased. The claimants also attached a death certificate of Abdul Rehman issued by Police Station. The concerned Labour Commissioner on their request processed a case which got through and an amount to the tune of Rs 2,05,000 was sanctioned. While making pay- ment of the amount, the Assistant Labour Commissioner conducted physical verification and found that the worker against whom the claim was processed, was actually liv- ing. The Assistant Labour Commissioner immediately lodged a complaint in Police Station Poonch and after ver- ifying the facts, police registered a case FIR 84/2017 under relevant sections of the law against Abdul Rehman, Abdul Samad, Anwar-ul-Haq and Abdul Razaq, all resi- dents of village Kanuiyan, Poonch for investigation. The HLCC meetingexpressed satisfaction at thefunctioning of the two waterATMs already installed inKatra town and decided toput in place six more waterATMs in Katra town forproviding RO water to pil-grims and other visitors atnominal rates.

The meeting also reviewedthe progress on the cam-paign launched for enlargingawareness for making Katratown and its surroundingareas completely polythenefree and suggested for con-ducting more such cam-paigns.

In this context, two kioskshave been set up, one each atNomain Check Post and atRailway Station Katra bythe Municipal Committee to

provide biodegradable carrybags free of cost to the pil-grims.

CEO of the Shrine Boardinformed that for efficientcollection of garbage inKatra town an undergroundbin system the first such inJ and K shall soon beinstalled. He added that 10locations have been identi-fied for the purpose. He fur-ther informed that theShrine Board is also shortlycommencing work to installattractive railing along thecentral verge of the roadsleading to Katra town; con-struct a circular road fromHansali via BhumikaMandir to Panthal Road;reconstruct the oldDarshani Deodi; install playequipments for children atKundrorian Park (nearRailway Station) and under-take other identified worksworth Rs. 650 lakh.

The HLCC also took stockof the progress on preparingof DPRs for various projectsto be taken up in Katra townfor construction and upgra-dation of lanes and drains,improvement of internalroads, solid waste and wastewater management, powerand water supply as well asimproving other civic ameni-ties and stressed for envis-aged timeline completion ofall the works.

According to a report, a Tata mobile (JK14B-0891) was hitby a speeding Truck (JK02A-5142) near Chinar Theater onJammu Srinagar National Highway resulting in three per-sons getting injuries. R S PURA: Police on Thursday arrested a bootlegger withillicit liquor in village Rattian of R S Pura.

According to a police spokesman, Miran Sahib Police duringa raid in village Rattian apprehended one person and recov-ered 30 pouches of liquor from his possession.

The accused was carrying these pouches for illegal sale inthe locality.

POONCH: Police on Thursday booked four persons forfraudulently claiming death compensation in respect of aliving person. According to the report, Abdul Samad andAnwar-ul-Haq, sons of Abdul Rehman submitted a claimto Assistant Labour Commissioner Poonch in 2014 thattheir father Abdul Rehman, son of Umer Baksh who wasa construction worker died on 9th March, 2014. Theydemanded that assistance available under Building andOther Construction Works Welfare Board be paid to thefamily of deceased. The claimants also attached a deathcertificate of Abdul Rehman issued by Police Station.

The concerned Labour Commissioner on their requestprocessed a case which got through and an amount to thetune of Rs 2,05,000 was sanctioned. While making pay-ment of the amount, the Assistant Labour Commissionerconducted physical verification and found that the workeragainst whom the claim was processed, was actually liv-ing. The Assistant Labour Commissioner immediatelylodged a complaint in Police Station Poonch and after ver-ifying the facts, police registered a case FIR 84/2017under relevant sections of the law against Abdul Rehman,Abdul Samad, Anwar-ul-Haq and Abdul Razaq, all resi-dents of village Kanuiyan, Poonch for investigation.
