WANDERING THOUGHTS(as we see them)

The weather became more seasonal over the past week – although we’re not overly pleased with the freezingrain. But I guess we may as well get used to it – ‘tis the season!

And what are we hearing now – for Saskatchewan they are now saying we can expect a warmer than normalwinter with below normal precipitation – at least until February. Only weeks ago we’re sure we were beingwarned of colder temps and more snow than usual! Guess it’s like the song, “Que Serra – Serra” – what will bewill be!

The Moosomin & District Arts Council opened their 2018-19 season on the 30th with Ian Sherwood on stage. He is from Halifax and is a one-man band playing saxophone, guitar and does vocal. Using moderntechnology, he was able to accomplish three part harmony in all aspects giving the sound of a large group –quite amazing and most enjoyable.

Halloween 2018 has come and gone and once again, most younger (& some older) folk “hit thesugar high”. Some areas of Town report lower numbers of visitors than usual – some had wellover 100 in other areas. One resident told us that he had to rush to the store shortly after 5:30when he realized his inventory was in danger of depletion. Via the grapevine, we hear that 400plus visited the Haunted House at the Hotel. (No headless body showed up in our yard this year– the shock from last year still lingers!)

On our travels we notice that ditches have been mowed right to the fence-line on some roads – looks good andmakes it much easier to spot any wildlife who are planning to cross before it’s too late. Also seeing muchactivity in our Highway #48 – pipeline construction, shoulder paving, surveying, line painting. Bottom line –drive with caution!

Once again (an annual event) the streets in Fairlight were lined with vehicles – folks taking in Home SweetHome’s Christmas and Open House and the craft & trade show on the 3rd. This year instead of the usual soup‘n sandwich noon luncheon, a Ukrainian cuisine was served – unique and very tasty.

Our Manitoba friends are “seeing it our way” once again – for a few months - changingtheir clocks an hour back on Sunday – sure makes it easier when keeping appointments– so, who cares?

And for our “blooper-chasers” – did you see last week’s edition – the answers to the Quizzle were reversed.(We do this on purpose just to see if anyone is actually reading our efforts!)

Hopefully all the Seniors and Seniorettes got home safely from the Mexican Fiesta before the “WALL” got tooHigh! A few margaritas/tequilas would make them run/climb faster!

Fall supper #4 checked off our “bucket list”. According to ticket numbers, 316 people attended the local UnitedChurch supper on Sunday. Organizers tell us that this is around the usual attendance. Hopefully, we can findat least one more supper to attend.

Mexican Fiesta – November 2nd – WASN’T THAT A PARTY?!! Musical entertainment wasenjoyed throughout the evening by musicians Ed Fahlman, Mark Kruell & Chris Byrne. All in all,it was one great evening of fun and fellowship! “Hat’s Off” to the organizers – we can hardly waitto see what their “theme” might be next year! Lesson learned – a community that works – andplays – TOGETHER stays TOGETHER!!

YOU ASKED …When is the Lion’s Seniors’ Christmas Dinner – and how many years have they beendoing this?

ANSWER …This year’s date is Monday, December 10th – and this will be the 50th Annual!

NO WAGER EXCHANGE

With the Riders having the bye last week, wecould not collect – or didn’t have to pay – anyToonies (or is it twoonies)?

The Stampeders win over the Lions made thedecision that our Riders would play host to theBombers on November 11th.

While the Stampeders “wait & see” if they play theRiders or the Bombers on the 18th. The Lions areoff to play the Ticats in the East semi-final, also onthe 11th.

Maybe if Halifax gets a team, the divisions will beequal once again.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE for NEIL W. DENNISTo our community of family, friends and foes we extend an invitation toattend a casual afternoon to EAT, PRAY, LOVE.Neil loved to eat and share a meal and so we will on November 12 at 12o’clock.All that have shared a meal with him know he was forever looking for oneof those round things that smelt so good! If you happen to have one youare welcome to bring it.Following the service the floor is open to all who wish to share: be it aprank Neil may have pulled (who me?!?), a story, how he may haveinfluenced you, etc.The family will be ever so grateful for the love/laughter/prayer expressed. And should there be any round things left we may have to finish them uptoo!
