Embroidering the Frame

1. In the G category of preloaded designs, select design number 30. 2. Scale the design down as far as it can go. 3. Rotate the design 20 degrees – until the solid part of the design

is straight. • Tip: Turn the background grid on in the JoyOS Advisor™ to

ensure the design is straight. 4. Touch and hold on the design to get the Smart Toolbox and

select Duplicate. 5. On the new design, touch and hold-then select Mirror Image

End-to-End. 6. Move this design until the curl on the wide end of the design

overlaps the curl on the original design. 7. Open the Design Toolbox on the left side of your screen. Press

Select All and Group the two designs on screen. 8. Duplicate the grouped design 2 times.

• The first duplicate will be mirror imaged Side-to-Side and placed on the opposite side of the hoop.

• The next duplicate will be rotated 90 degrees. This will be placed on the bottom of the screen

9. Touch and hold on the bottom design and select Mirror Image End-to-End. Move this design to the top.

10. When placing the designs to make a frame, you will want the curls on the narrow end of the design to just barely touch.

• Note: when placing the designs to make a frame, the design will be partially outside of the hoop. This will be address in step 12-13.

11. When you are happy with the placement of the designs, open your Design Toolbox, Select All, and Group the designs.

12. With the grouped design selected, press the Resize icon. 13. Decrease the size of the design until it fits inside the hoop.

When you are happy with the size of the design, Press OK on the bottom right corner of your screen.

14. Hoop your INSPIRA® Tear-A-Way stabilizer in the 360x260 hoop.

15. Thread your machine with yellow embroidery thread on top and embroidery bobbin thread on bottom.

16. Press GO in the bottom right corner of your screen and select Baste Around Design before pressing Continue.

17. Select the Monochrome icon on screen or the STOP button on the head of your machine for uninterrupted embroidery.

18. Use the basting stitch as an outline to place your felt on the hooped stabilizer.

19. Press the Fix button to baste around the design again to secure the felt on your stabilizer.

20. Embroider the design. 21. Remove the finished design from the hoop and remove all of the

stabilizer. Constructing the Pillow

22. Trim the felt from the outside of the frame. 23. Attach the clear vinyl to the frame by placing the vinyl on the

wrong side of the frame, stitch along the inside border of the frame.

24. Using the duckbill scissors, trim the felt along the inside of the frame.

• Note: If you do not have duckbill scissors, you may want to consider trimming the felt inside the frame before attaching the clear vinyl.

25. From the purple cotton, cut one 18” square and two 18” x 11” rectangles.

26. With right sides facing up, attach the frame to the 18” square of purple cotton by stitching along the outside edge of the design on 3 sides.

• Tip: Finger press the 18” square in half both ways and line up the center of the embroidery with the lines

27. Thread your machine with the purple thread in top and bobbin. Baste the pom-pom trim along the edge of the 18” square on the right side of the fabric.

• Note: Make sure the pom-pom side of the trim is facing towards the inside of the pillow.

28. On each 18” x 11” piece of purple cotton – along one 18” side, fold and press ½”, fold and press that ½” over again and top stitch.

29. With the folded edges facing the center and right sides together, match the outside edges and sew with ½” seam allowance.

30. Note: the folded edges will overlap in the center. 31. Clip the corners and turn inside out. 32. Place the 16” pillow inside and have fun switching between the

memories.
