Sanctioned Stallions of the Friesian Blood

Horse Registry

Sanctioned Breeding Stallions All papered FPS or FPZV Friesian stallions, IALHA registered, Gypsy

registered, and Iberian W armblood registered horses are eligible to

apply to the Friesian Blood Horse Registry for inclusion on the reg-

istries Sanctioned Stallions list.

1. To apply, the stallion owner must fill out an application and sub-

mit a copy of the stallion's papers.

2. Upon acceptance, the stallion owner must submit a DNA sample

for the Friesian Blood Horse Registry files.

3. The stallion owner must become a member of the Friesian Blood

Horse Registry and maintain their membership in good standing.

4. Accepted stallions receive a lifetime breeding certificate. A stal-

lion must be inspected and receive a score of 7.5 or better to be eli-

gible for the sanctioned stallion list. A rating of 2nd premie or bet-

ter awarded by the KFPS is also accepted. Other criteria may also

be accepted on an individual basis.

The 2013 Hengstenkeuring was as spectacular as

always. It was estimated that 15,000 to 16,000 people

from many countries attended over the three days of

this event.

Not only is this event a place of camaraderie amongst

Friesian owners, or a place where the people that live

for the breed accumulate, it is an event where a moun-

tain of knowledge can be acquired. Clinics on subjects

ranging from photography of the Friesian, to embryo

transfer, shoeing the Friesian horse and understanding

the IBOP test, a dressage clinic, and also a practical

guide to judging the Friesian horse. The list goes on

and on.

At the beginning, approximately 76 young ster stal-

lions were presented to the judges. The first evalua-

tion is in the cage, where they are evaluated at liberty.

Once the judges have seen them walk in hand, the trot

and canter are scrutinized with the stallion set free to

move without any restraint.

The first elimination by the judges left just 30 ster stal-

lions. As the stallions that were not chosen left the

arena, the judges would comment on the reason these

stallions were no longer in the running. The 30

remaining stallions are once again presented to the

judges in hand. Each stallion is given the same amount

of time and evaluated in the same manner.

This year 20 of the entire group convinced the judges

of their quality and were asked to go on with further

testing. The fathers of this final group were:

Each year many of the older, already approved stal-

lions, are presented much to the pleasure of the crowd.

Competing for Stallion Show Champion of the year,

they strut and show themselves to the judges, each

hoping they will attain the coveted title. All looking

beautifully turned out with glisten-

ing coats and well-muscled bod-

ies, it seems quite a task for the

judges to decide. In the end,

Norbert 444 was once again the

Stallion Show Champion and

Tsjalle 454 was the reserve cham-

pion, while Beart 411 was made

the older stallion champion and

his father Jasper 366 was made the

older stallion reserve champion.

1. Alert 475 known as Casper van de Oostwal (Jasper

366 x Hearke 254). Alert is the first stallion to be

approved using the short test in the USA.

2. Bene 476 before known as Bonne fan Signature

Friesians (Doaitsen 420 x Leffert 306)

3. Date 477 before known as Dominic FC (Mintse 384

x Tjitte 333)

Bene 476 ~ Doaitsen X Leffert 306 Sport + Pref had

the highest scores in all three test of any stallion to go

through the test in North America! Bene will be

standing at Signature Friesians.

Harmen 424 Sport has suddenly died at just 11 years of age. In

the performance test in Drachten he received a very good score of

86.5 points. He was the son of Teunis 332 Preferent.
