Welcome from the President of

The Rotary Club of Burnham BeechesHello everybody. The Rotary Club of Burnham Beeches is once again

delighted to organise this ever-popular Bank Holiday event for the

people of Burnham and neighbouring areas. Amazingly this will be

our 27th Donkey Derby!

As always entry is FREE and the now traditional donkey races, donkey

rides, Traylen’s funfair will be on hand to entertain us. Additionally,

there will be shows and demonstrations by local groups and schools

as well as a selection of great stalls providing food and drinks,

information on local organisations and more games for young and

old. Please visit and support them all as their participation and

support make this day possible.

A lot of people still ask the question “what is Rotary”? The organisation

was founded in 1905 in Chicago and has now grown to 1.2 million Rotarians operating in 200 countries

across the world. Last year it was ranked as one of the World’s Top 10 Humanitarian Charities (Source:

CNBC.com). Rotarians give their time freely to support local and international people in need. At a local

level The Rotary Club of Burnham Beeches comprises a group of like-minded men and women who

live in the immediate area (Burnham, Dorney, Taplow and the Farnhams). We meet weekly and divide

ourselves into specialist teams to raise money by organising events like this for local and overseas

charities. Recent beneficiaries include Marie Curie Cancer Care, Thames Hospice, the new Alexander

Devine Children’s Hospice, The Thames Valley Adventure Playground and Rotary’s highly successful End

Polio Now campaign (to name but a very few).

We also work closely with our local schools on specific projects offering support to the students.

It’s not all business as we also enjoy a great social side with regular speakers and outings. We always

welcome new members, so if you would like to know more about us please ask one of our members –

they are easily identified by their distinctive yellow sweatshirts, or look us up on www.rcbb.co.uk.

So, come and ‘enjoy all the fun of the fair’, a tasty snack, afternoon tea, sandwiches and cakes, or even

a cooling beer or two! Study the Programme, place your bets and don’t forget to look through the

advertisements.

We wish you the very best of luck in picking the winning donkeys at the Tote but, most of all, we wish

you a happy fun-packed day. Remember ALL profits will go to our chosen charities to help people less

fortunate than us.

Azure Theatre School is a performing Arts School. We offer an

extensive range of dance, drama and musical theatre classes

and workshops. We welcome students of all ages, abilities and

experience – whether they have ambitions to dance or act

professionally or simply to take part as a hobby.

Pop Goes The Choir is an award winning not-for-profit

organisation. Singing songs that you want to hear and

join in with, whilst raising money for charity. With over 100

members, the choir performs both nationally and for the

community for a number of charities, and helps raise lots of

cash in the process!

From Maidenhead Bridge go

along the A4 Bath Road towards

Slough. Keep on the A4 through

the Sainsbury roundabout and turn

left at the next traffic lights into

Huntercoombe Lane North, then at

the T junction turn right into Priory

Road where the entrance to the

Donkey Derby is on the left, just

past the mini-roundabout.

From Slough go along the A4 Bath

road towards Maidenhead. Turn

right and go North on Station Road

then left on to Burnham Lane. At

the junction turn left on to Priory

Road. The entrance to the Donkey

Derby is on the right, just before

the mini-roundabout.
