I haven’t lost the plot. January is nearly over, and I am ‘feeling the fear and doing it anyway’ with our shiny, new newsletter. On a regular basis my team and I write for clients, across all sizes and industries - newsletters, articles, blogs, social media posts – you name it, we write it. This year I wanted us to start writing for MCT because this year we are changing the way we work. Celebrating our fifth anniversary in marketing and copywriting, I wanted to share snippets of what inspires us, challenges us, motivates us and how we have built a reputation of being a fantastic tea breaker consultancy. Each month you will dive into the world of MCT with a few gems thrown in…. who knows what? Creativity is not to be restricted after all! I’m excited but most of all, I want to share that excitement with you. Hair prickles Just for fun! Event speaking: I love to network. I can chew your ear off - usually about parenting four children or the fact that no-one knows how to drive in the rain - but still, I love to socialise. However, stand me up in a room, in front of people to give a presentation and I have a blush attack. My only conclusion to this, is that my body is allergic to presentations. It doesn’t matter how I breathe, or what my mantra is for the day, I sweat, I shake, my body blushes, I say that dreaded ‘urm’ too many times and I feel like I’ve been dragged through a desert. But although my body hates it and, although it contradicts my love to socialise, I still do it. My favourite presentation to date was standing in front of a room of professionals from all different industries, putting on a onesie and playing ‘Eye of the Tiger’ in the background. My thought process was that if I acknowledged my nerves in a comical way, it wouldn’t matter what I said or if I stumbled because the comical sight of me in that onesie, would take the edge off (and it didn’t hurt that my audience was laughing with me). After all, you want your audience to laugh and relax, not tense up and feel sorry for you. Brain Space

Good morning fellow clients, friends, acquaintances, LinkedIn connections,

contractors, journalists, Mr Postman and his black and white cat!

I haven’t lost the plot. January is nearly over, and I am ‘feeling the fear and doing

it anyway’ with our shiny, new newsletter. On a regular basis my team and I write

for clients, across all sizes and industries - newsletters, articles, blogs, social

media posts – you name it, we write it. This year I wanted us to start writing for

MCT because this year we are changing the way we work.

Celebrating our fifth anniversary in marketing and copywriting, I wanted to share

snippets of what inspires us, challenges us, motivates us and how we have built a

reputation of being a fantastic tea breaker consultancy.

Each month you will dive into the world of MCT with a few gems thrown in…. who

knows what? Creativity is not to be restricted after all!

I’m excited but most of all, I want to share that excitement with you.

Hair prickles

Just for fun!

Event speaking: I love to network. I can chew your ear off - usually about parenting four children or the

fact that no-one knows how to drive in the rain - but still, I love to socialise. However, stand me up in a

room, in front of people to give a presentation and I have a blush attack.

My only conclusion to this, is that my body is allergic to presentations. It doesn’t matter how I breathe, or

what my mantra is for the day, I sweat, I shake, my body blushes, I say that dreaded ‘urm’ too many times

and I feel like I’ve been dragged through a desert.

But although my body hates it and, although it contradicts my love to socialise, I still do it. My favourite

presentation to date was standing in front of a room of professionals from all different industries,

putting on a onesie and playing ‘Eye of the Tiger’ in the background. My thought process was that if I

acknowledged my nerves in a comical way, it wouldn’t matter what I said or if I stumbled because the

comical sight of me in that onesie, would take the edge off (and it didn’t hurt that my audience was laughing

with me). After all, you want your audience to laugh and relax, not tense up and feel sorry for you.

Therefore, the moral of the story (asides from looking like a complete loon), is to acknowledge what

makes you itch, and to find a way to scratch it so that the itch disappears. You never know, you may have

fun during the process!

This is the section of the newsletter where you either skim over or think, why not, what have I got to lose!

That point of the month where you take on the BIG CHALLENGE (cue the dun dun dunnnn music).

Think of something that makes you feel uncomfortable and think of the most extreme way you could reverse

that discomfort. What have you got to lose? After all, dignity is so overrated anyway!

If there’s one thing that unites most of us through the working week, it’s that feeling on a Monday

morning. It can be hard to kick yourself out of weekend mode and motivate yourself to hit the ground

running, especially on these dark mornings!

But here’s a novel idea - a playlist designed to motivate you through Monday and beyond to get you

buzzing with productivity and smashing those deadlines. Change the way you see the working week with

these 21 songs that sum it up perfectly.

This is a fantastic book recommended by a very dear friend of mine. It challenges your mindset, makes

you question how you respond to everyday situations, and highlights what you already know but makes

you accountable for your actions (a bit like your spouse does but in a more blunt way without it causing

an argument!). I love this book and can see why this is extremely popular across all organisations who

use it as a foundation to implement change and adjust behaviours. It is without a doubt, worth a read!

from meetings, have a gander - you won’t be disappointed!
