From the Desk of Fr. Randy: Today as a Church we celebrate the Solemnity of “The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.” We celebrate the promise that every time we receive the Eucharist we come face to face with Jesus. Or in other words, we encounter Jesus. And not only that, we encounter the full pres-ence of Jesus – body, blood, soul and divinity. And there is no place else that we can en-counter Jesus in this way than at Mass. And this encounter of the full presence of Jesus (body, blood, soul and divinity) changes us in far-reaching ways. Just like the leper, the paralytic, the blind beggar, the Samaritan woman at the well, the tax collector Zacchaeus, the woman with a hemorrhage for 12 years, the two disciples on the road to Emmaus (and so many more) were transformed by their encounter with Jesus, we, too, are transformed every time we encounter Jesus in the Eucharist. Every time we receive Jesus in this sacrament we become more like Him and are challenged to continue to become more like Him. If you read any of Pope Francis’ writings or homilies you will discover that one of his favorite words is “encounter.” For Pope Francis this means coming out of ourselves and going out into the world so that we can encounter others. And more specifically, it means encountering those who are living on the fringes: those who are hurting, those who were hungry, and all those who are in need. Because by doing this, those we minister to will encounter Jesus in us. But even more surprisingly, we will encounter Jesus in them. And both of us will be changed by these encounters. This weekend, as we encounter the full pres-ence of Jesus in the Eucharist, let’s make a commitment to then go out in the world and en-counter all those in need of Jesus. Let’s become Jesus for a world that is hurting. Let the transformation begin!

MISSION STATEMENT We are members of the Body of Christ who strive to Know, Love

In March, it was announced that due to projected low enrollment in 5th & 6th grade for 2018/19, those classes would become blended. Upon further planning, the school's administration has determined that a blended class is not in the best interest of the students. Therefore, HCCS is eliminating grade 6 and, beginning with the 201819 school year, Holy Cross will be a PreK 5th grade elementary school.

This change has caused reorganization in staffing for next year. Following diocesan policies, interviews, and great discernment, the following staffing changes will be effective next year. Mrs. Jill Mack, current 6th grade homeroom teacher will be the school's 5th Grade homeroom teacher. Mr. Mathew Cramer, current 5th grade homeroom teacher will serve as the Technology Instructor and Physical Education Teacher. We are grateful to Mr. Michael Biro, current Technology In-structor and Physical Education Teacher for his service at HCCS this past year. We ask that you please keep him and his family in yourprayers as he discerns where his career will lead him next.

Other changes not related to the elimination of the 6th grade class are as follows. This is the last year of our Junior High program and Mrs.Jamie Wisda’s service. Mrs. Wisda has served as our Junior Highteacher since its inception, and we thank her for her service! Mr. Jeff Weidenhamer, Maintenance and Mr. Bill Warren, Custodian will retire this summer. Mr. Biro, Mrs. Wisda, Mr. Jeff and Mr. Bill will all be missed by the HCCS family.
