FROM THE PASTOR’S STUDY...
within India at least as an accepted
culture. To be a Christian in India
may just mean that you are not
Hindu, Buddhist, or Islamic. India
has 24 states at present but one of
the interpreters told me if a dispute
were to arise there may be 25 tomor-
row.
Following the service that day
we took another 4 hour bus ride up to
the Camp ground at Charala Kunnu on
the top of one of the Mountains in the
area. It was a beautiful area sur-
rounded by what looked to be sort of
a mountainous rainforest. The chil-
dren were eager to meet us and more
than happy to give us a photo oppor-
tunity.
We made
short work of
unloading and set-
ting up our rooms
for a meeting to
give us the logistics
for the week of
Camp.
The air horn sounded twice
every morning at 5am, once on the
east side of the campus and another
on the west side of the campus. The

(Honoring God through Service)
On April 27, Sandy and I along
with 11 other missionaries headed off
for Kochi, Kerala, India. After passing
through the airport in Doha, Qatar,
Saudi Arabia we arrived in India. Even
though it was 4:30 in the morning, the
airport was packed with people.We
were taken by bus to Kottayam, Ker-
ala, India where we spent the day
making arrangements for services the
next day at the Saint Paul’s Church of
South India in Mooledom, Kerala. This
church was the Church where Raju
Samuel had attended while growing up
but never hear the Gospel of Jesus
preached there. The worship service
that morning was nothing more than a
service ritual where everyone who was
a member partook of the communion
service listened to a reading from
Psalms and a testi-
mony by the Asso-
ciate Pastor about
his year of educa-
tion at the semi-
nary.

the camp all week and about 30%
of those attending made some
decision, whether responding in
repentance for salvation or rededi-
cation to the Lord. Some made
commitments to a missionary call
to spreading the Gospel of Jesus
Christ.
I had the privilege to
preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ
in India. Wow, I never dreamed
when the Lord called me to be a
pastor that I would personally be
preaching the Gospel in the utter-
most part of the earth,. Wow, the
first night I preached I was over-
whelmed at the faithfulness of the
Lord Jesus Christ. I broke down
before preaching and afterwards I
again was brought to tears over
how the Lord had used me. Wow,
life with the Lord is truly an ad-
venture.
After the week of Camp
we headed off for the Tailoring
and Computer Institute which is a
complete day away by bus. The
Institute is in another state called
Tamil Nadu which is a Hindu state.
The city where it is located is in
Palani, Tamil Nadu, India which
hosts a Hindu Temple which
houses a god that has an elephant
head with a human body with an
extra set of arms and hands.
When we arrived the people were
preparing for a Hindu festival. It
started early the next morning with
a constant banging of drums and
other instruments being played the
only thing that seemed to have any
consistent cadence was the drum—
the rest just seemed like chaos.
Stanley. who is the missionary at
Palani, wanted to take us to see
the temple which was on top of the
nearby mountain. But before we
went we wanted to make sure that
we would not be required to wor-
ship. We were just going to see
the spectacle. We did but we did
not make the trek up the mountain
on foot, we rode in a cable gondola
to the top of the mountain. The
blindness of these people in their
worship of their god was com-
pletely heart breaking. We just
wanted to shake them to wake
them up
from the
blind fool-
i s h n e s s
that they
had given
them and
their chil-
dren to in
this wor-
children were up and eager to be-
gin each and every day of the week
even on the last day we were there
when we were exhausted. Devo-
tions, morning quiet time before
breakfast which was at 8:00 am.
We had two Bible stidy ses-
sions and tea time followed by
lunch at 1:00 pm. The afternoon
consisted of two more Bible study
times for the older children and a
Bible study and craft time for the
younger ones with tea time and
afternoon play time of games
which were designed to reinforce
the Bible Study times. The India
counselors had what they called
“two by two” time where they were
sharing the gospel directly with the
students, one on one.
The evening consisted of
worship beginning at 6:30 pm and
finishing between 8:30 and 9pm
followed by supper and another
praise time and finally off to bed.
It was exhausting but the children
never seemed tired at all; however
we Americans were running on
empty by the end of the week.
We had a great week of
camp. We had 260+ students at

for you fantastic support of the Spaghetti Lunch Fundraiser for the Student Summer Activities. On Saturday, May 19th during the lunch we collected
$1015.00. WOW! Now the student leaders can have funds to support the Christian activities for the students through out the summer. You can con-tinue to donate for this cause as you feel led.

ship. Many groups looked like generations of families living in the same darkness. Stanley looked at us
at one point, with a sad heavy heart and said, “this is my mission field”. Stanley had been taken a few
months earlier by Hindus and was beaten and saturated with kerosene to be burned. But the authorities
came along and caused the people to flee. Praise the Lord for God’s provision of deliverance.
The traffic is something to see. We saw whole families of 5 riding together on one motorcycle.
They were sitting everywhere and yes some of them were very small children and none of them had hel-
mets. The marks for lanes are only suggestive and the horns must break down regularly because of their
overuse. Horns are blown with every breaking and acceleration. There is a vast population in need of the
Gospel of Jesus Christ which compel us to continuje to work there. Pray for Bro. Raji and the missioms
because the Lord is using them and the need is so very great.
We want to thank you again for all the prayers as well as the financial support that was given to
enable Sandy and I to go together on this mission trip. This was an experience I am so very greatful to
have had the privilege of having my wife by my side during the trip. As much as I wish you could under-
stand all the things we experienced I know beyond a shadow of doubt that my words to paint the picture
and even the Holy Spirit to convey my heart to you has only dulled in comparison to being there. Praise
the Lord who has done great things, He deserves all the praise and glory for it all.

NEW MEDIA IN THE LIBRARY
Karen Kingsbury's Let me hold you longer
With lighthearted illustrations and a sweet, reflective tone, best-selling
author Karen Kingsbury encourages parents to savor not only their chil-dren’s “firsts”—like first steps and first words—but the “lasts” as well. With the tenderness of a mother speaking directly to her child, Karen reminds us not to miss last days of kindergarten and last at bats in Lit-tle League amidst the whirlwind of life. Adapted from a poem in Rejoice, mothers and grandmoth-ers everywhere will identify with the tenderhearted reflections in Let Me Hold You Longer. An ideal gift book for special occasions from baby showers to graduations. Now in-cludes a bonus CD read by Karen!
Countless stories. One incredible ending.
A major league baseball player. a Tennessee pas-tor. A reality TV star. a single mom. A multi-platinum rocker. What do these people have in common? They've all hit
bottom. And none of them stayed there.
Famous or unfamiliar, these are the stories of real people who reached the end of their strength, the end of their control, and found the most surprising truths. It taught them not to rely on self or sub-stance but to lean on the only completely reliable source of love, hope, and freedom: the God who created them. Shocking in their honesty, inspiring in their courage, these testimonies are critical re-minders that no one is too far from God to find him.
Join these and thousands more who have discov-ered thief changing power in putting God first and proclaiming, "I am Second."
Karen Kingsbury, Let’s have a Daddy Day!

Whether it’s the zoo, park, a movie, or simply snuggling down to read about such adventures—-being together is what’s required for a “Mommy Date.” This poetic picture book reminds little ones of fun they’ve had, and fun ahead, and brings home the bottom line: spending time together is what Mommies really want!

School is out and I'm ready for summer. How about you? This summer your Sunday School teachers have a few things planned for you. Be sure and be in SS every Sunday to find out what is happening for the month!
This month we are continuing our study about Jesus ministry. We will learn how Jesus calmed the storm. Next we will hear about the time Jesus fed five thousand men plus women and children. The next two Sundays we will study some of the parables. First will be the parable of the sower then the last Sunday we will talk about three parables found in Luke, chapter 15.
We will learn one of my favorite Bible verses this month. It is found in Psalm 107:1 and it says: "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." Isn't that wonderful verse to remember? God's love endures forever, not just some- t i m e s , but forever!

Thank you SWBC for all your
Prayers and Support
PAGE 6
It is sometimes hard to just say thank you when you want to use so many
other words that simply do not exist because iit seems that a simple thank
you is not enough. But in saying that, we would like to thank you for ALL
of your support on our recent Mission Trip to India! God of course was so
good, as He always is. We were able to see the Lord change 54 lives by
receiving His abundant grace, mercy and forgiveness along with 34 rededi-
cations to walk before Him holy again.
Please continue to pray for the Indian people that are surrounded by false
gods at every turn and also suffer consequences for their walk with Christ.
The Lord showed us that there is persecution for standing for Him but none that we have seen here
in America which launches us forward in doing His work here in our community. This must be the
reason that Paul encouraged Timothy to stand strong and to understand that it would be difficult
and to be encouraged in doing the work of the Lord.
We are blessed to be a part of a body of Christ that sends out missionaries to spread the Word of
God to the uttermost parts of the world. There are no words that would be sufficient in explaining
how blessed we were to be participating in that work!
Keep praying for the people of India and for the leaders that the Lord has put into place there as they go about the work of the Lord as He commanded. May we also get to going about the work that He has placed us in as a body of Christ in the community that He has given to us!! Love you all and am blessed to call you our church family!
