Please be assured that all our teachers are working Ɵrelessly behind the scenes to plan and deliver appropriate lessons for your child. SomeƟmes things do not go to plan and links may not work or Google classroom may not work how we want, but please remember this is a whole new way of teaching for our staand they are all doing the very best they can. I have received a lot of posiƟve feedback about the athome learning experience from some families. Snowy Valleys School remains focused on supporƟng the wellbeing of our students and their families. There is a lot of conicƟng informaƟon circulaƟng around the return to school for students. Students at Snowy Valleys School will be transiƟoning back to school one day each week starƟng on Monday, May 11 (next week). Each class will be returning to school for one day. The school is sƟll open for children of essenƟal workers or for ‘at risk’ students. The Ɵmetable for each class is outlined below. Please take note of your child’s allocated day. Students who do aƩend school will be supervised and will undertake the same learning as they have been when learning at home. We are following all NSW Department of EducaƟon advice to ensure the safety and health of all our staand students. Any families who have an quesƟons please ring the oce on 69472164. The front oce remains closed to parents and the public. Regards Moira Principal The long awaited name change for the school has nally happened. The name change was signed oby the NSW Minister for EducaƟon, the Honourable Sarah Mitchell, towards the end of March 2020. The school was noƟed of the change towards the end of Term 1. The school is now ocially known as Snowy Valleys School. All signage, leƩerheads, etc will now change to reect the new name of the school, but as you can understand this will be a process that will be undertaken by the school and the NSW Department of EducaƟon over the coming months. The implicaƟons for parents and carers when buying new school uniforms will be the new school name will need to be embroidered. It will sƟll be ne for students to wear their uniforms that have Gadara School embroidered on them. The school website will change to Snowy Valleys School in Week 4 of this term. The school email has already been changed to snowyvalleys[email protected]. Our Facebook page will also be changed to reect the new name and logo. If you have any quesƟons about these changes please do not hesitate to contact the school.

CLASS ROSTER FOR WEEKS 3

(MAY 11‐15) AND 4 (May 18‐22) Star ng next week (week 3) students will be returning to face to face learning for one day each week. 

The days that your child will a end school during these weeks will be as follows: 

 

Week 3:  Monday, MAY 11: Class 5 with Mrs O’Donovan/Mrs Roberts. 

    Tuesday, MAY 12: Class 4 with Ms McMullen. 

    Wednesday, MAY 13: Class 3 with Mrs Rose. 

    Thursday, MAY 14: Class 2 with Mr Makeham. 

    Friday, MAY 15: Class 1 with Mrs O’Sullivan. 

 

Week 4:  Monday, MAY 18: Class 5 with Mrs O’Donovan/Mrs Roberts. 

    Tuesday, MAY 19: Class 4 with Ms McMullen. 

    Wednesday, MAY 20: Class 3 with Mrs Rose.

COVID‐19 SYMPTOMS AND ADIVCE It is cri cal that any student a ending Snowy Valleys School who feels unwell must not a end school un‐

l they are completely  well and symptom free. This includes a cough, fever, sore throat, runny or stuffy 

nose, headache, fa gue or aches and pains. This is extremely important in order to minimise the spread 

of any virus and to ensure our school remains open. If a student falls ill while at school, we will contact 

the student’s parent or carer to a end the school to collect the student. If the student’s parents or carer 

is not available to collect their child or unable to be contacted, the students emergency contact will be 

asked to collect the child from school. Could all families please remain vigilant in ensuring any students 

who show any signs of illness please remain at home. The health and wellbeing of our staff and students 

and their families is paramount at this  me.  

NEW SCHOOL GRASS AREA Snowy Valleys School was lucky enough to receive a grant through 

the Australian Government’s Local Schools Community Funds grants 

program to improve the grass/school oval area. Over the recent 

school holidays landscaper Brad Norden from Gundagai removed 

the top layer of our school oval area and replaced it with beau ful 

green turf, complete with a state of the art irriga on system to en‐

sure the area stays lush. The area has always been full of weeds and 

o en bindies, which has made it hard for students to enjoy playing 

sports or games on the oval. Snowy Valleys School will be holding an 

official opening of the new area at a later date. 

P&C ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Snowy Valleys School P&C Associa on had to postpone their 

annual general mee ng last term due to the Covid‐19 situa on. This 

term the P&C will try to reschedule the AGM so that a new execu ve commi ee can be elected. The P&C 

will no fy families when a date has been agreed on. This is  a great opportunity for families to become 

familiar with the how the P&C func ons. Anyone who has any ques ons please contact Melanie Jackson 

at the school.

LIONS CLUB DONATION Snowy Valleys School has been working hard in our school garden this year. 

Not only do we have a new grassed area, we have also planted 60 new salvia 

shrubs around the school. This has been possible thanks to a recent dona on 

from the Tumut Lions Club. The Lions Club donated $500 to go towards     

improving the outside play area in the school. We would like to thank the 

Tumut Lions Club for their generosity.  

DYMOCKS CHILDREN’S CHARITIES Snowy Valleys School has recently been the recipient of $4000 worth of new 

books from children’s literacy charity Dymocks Children’s Charity. This     

charity is a team who have worked to deliver books to children, schools and communi es affected by the 

bushfires in early 2020. Also part of Dymocks’ Children Charity is a YouTube channel. This channel is a 

way of bringing stories and book related ac vi es to as many children as possible who are at home     

during the Covid‐19 crisis. 

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT— JOB VACANCIES Due to Covid‐19 the Government has allocated more resources to keep schools clean and safe. Joss are 

doing a large recruitment drive.
