The Choir had been invited to perform the Possum Cloak Song at the Gurrong Concert on Saturday evening, with well known arƟsts, Archie Roach, Shane Howard, the Mae Trio and others. The students sang beauƟfully, with warmth and delight. The song tells the story of our cloak, which represents all the stories, cultures and backgrounds of the students, families and staof our Heatherhill community The children performed brilliantly and as we walked around Castlemaine the next day, several people stopped to talk to us and congratulate the students. Several people wanted to know more about our school and about the Possum Skin Cloak. I am proud to be able to tell others about our amazing group of students and our great school (best school in the world!). The Castlemaine Primary School community and the Castlemaine Choir were excepƟonally generous and hospitable. They provided accommodaƟon for the students and teachers to sleep over, amazing home cooked pizza (from the school’s own pizza oven) and cooked a hearty country breakfast – eggs, bacon, toast, fruit buns, juice – on Sunday morning. They made sure that students with special dietary requirements, such as halal or vegetarian, were catered for also. I want to acknowledge the huge contribuƟon the teachers, Ms Townsend, Miss Harris, Ms Fran, Miss Dare and Miss Griths gave to our students last weekend. Not only did weeks of preparaƟon go into planning for the weekend, they devoted the whole weekend, from early Saturday morning to late Sunday aŌernoon to ensuring the students were safe, happy, and cared for. It is a huge task to take responsibility for and look aŌer 31 children in a new environment, away from home, away from parents and carers, travelling across the state. Our teachers were always cheerful, caring and made sure that the children were happy and safe. And, despite their Ɵredness, were at work on Monday morning, ready for another week! Our students were marvellous and demonstrated great resilience. They coped with everything that was presented – lots of walking, carrying their own bags and cases, performing on stage, train chaos and at all Ɵmes were cheerful and relaxed. I am a very fortunate principal to have stamembers who are so commiƩed to the wellbeing of our students, providing opportuniƟes for them, enabling them to “expand their horizons”. I am indeed fortunate to have such great kids at our school and I am very grateful that parents and carers entrust us with their precious children. The Choir at Castlemaine

BREAKFAST CLUB IS CHANGING

Breakfast Club is undergoing a renovation. We won some funding to put in a new kitchen but KITCH-ENS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!

We were lucky to have kitchen cabinets, an oven, a cooktop and a rangehood donated to us by BUN-NINGS. The vinyl flooring has been donated through our builder – Ray. A big thank-you to Peter Wain (husband of our aide Dianne), who donated a sink. This meant working out how to fit the kitchen cabi-nets into our Breakfast Club so that it is efficient to use. Fortunately our Maintenance Man – Keith – is very skilled and he has prepared our room for all the work that needs to happen. Our grant will pay for most of but not all of the building works. We will have fund raisers through Student Council next term to raise money for furni-ture and reverse cycle air-conditioning. Over the holidays the following works will take place: The room will be painted Installation of all cabinets Plumbing of the sink Wiring of power points and heavy duty wiring

for the cooktop and oven Laying of the vinyl flooring Gayle Townsend (Primary Welfare Officer)

Last Wednesday we did the P.J. Day.  It was a lot of fun.  My P.J.s colour is pink, brown and grey. It has bears.                                              Ekteena

I  liked  pyjama  day  because  I  could wear my car pyjamas to school and  I could bring my penguin  to  school as well.   Best  of  all  I  can  take my  pen‐guin  outside  to  play  in  the  play‐ground.                                                       Jimmy

My  monkey  Grapes  had  a broken  leg  because  he  fell out of the bed when he was sleeping. I  was  wearing  the  same pyjamas as Rungai. We had puppies    on  our  pyjamas.  We had a celebra on  in the big room for pyjama day.  We  all  gave money  for  the Royal  Children’s  Hospital. We needed to bring a one or two dollar dona on.                                      Dyanne

On pyjama day  I wore a navy blue  t‐shirt with my  red  pants.    I  forgot  to bring my teddy bear but I brought my gold  coin.    Then  we  had  a  parade.  When  the  parade  was  finished  the teacher gave a prize to the best teddy injury.                                                       Aryan

On pyjama day I wore my pirate pyja‐mas.  My  teddy  bear  bumped  his head.                                                                                         Thenura

When it was Pyjama Day, the teachers were  in their P.J.s, I was so surprised. I was in  my  angry  bird  pyjamas.   When  I  was playing outside  in my P.J.’s  ’s  I was on the big oval playing soccer.                                                 Houston My teddy bear ‘s walking

s ck always fell off but then Rungai put lots of s cky tape so it could s ck on. I was shy when I had to explain why my teddy’s leg was broken.                                   Melisa

My puppet’s name is Anna. She is a mum.  She helps people to get their gold back.  A big giant stole Chris’s gold. Stealing is bad.  The giant shouldn’t have stolen Chris’s gold. Chris wanted his gold back but the giant wouldn’t listen.                                                                                    Ciara

My puppets name is Chrystal.  She is a Prin‐cess  she has a  sister named Princess  Lisa. Chrystal  loves  animals.  She  is  sweet  and kind.    She has pink hair and a pink dress. She likes the colour pink.                                                             Saryta

My puppet has a hat and my puppet is a giant.  He likes to steal gold and he likes to lie a lot to people. He is big.            Darren

My puppets name is Lisa and her sister’s name is Chrystal.  Lisa has long gold hair and a pink and purple dress. She  is a hand puppet and her dress covers some part of my hand.                                                                                          Yui

I made  a  puppet  that was  The Cat  In The Hat.    It  has  a  red  coat with  dots on.    I used s cky  tape.    It had a good coat.    I was  impressed with  it  and  it was fun.  It had a happy a face. It had a hat to match and I finished it.  I like my puppet and it was cool.                                        Simon

My puppets name is Lia the lady bug. She has spots and it’s a girl. I use her for the play. It was really fun making puppets.                                                           Rungai

My P.J.s colour was green and black.  They  had  something wri en on  them,  it was  “The Beau ful,  Pre y,  Cute  Girl with Roman c Style Seasons”                                      Tamanna
