Dearly Beloved in Christ,

We are entering the second half of the year and let us thank God for all His guidance and blessings throughout the previous months. I want to thank and appreciate all the executive committee members, office bearers and all the conveners of the various programs for their committed leaderships and dedicated services towards the church. Two major events in the parish calendar took place in the month of June, Father’s Day and Vacation Bible School. Both the events were a great success. Our Sunday School students were benefitted by the talks and various other sessions. I praise God for His intervention all throughout the programs and His guidance in articulating and comprehending the profound theme ‘Giddy Up Junction – taking God’s love to new Frontiers. I extend my special thanks to Sunday School office bearers, our youth fellowship members, and Convener Mrs. Shoba Abraham. According to our church lectionary, the month of July carries a few important topics which reminds us about the faith journey and the doctrines of Christian faith. St. Thomas Day, the importance of Theological Education and three major sacraments of our church like Holy Ordination, Holy Marriage are the major themes for the month. St. Thomas Day Special service and thanksgiving prayer will be held on July 03, 2019 at 9.30 a.m. Our Diocesan Bishop Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Thirumeni will lead the service. I request all of you to participate in the service.

As I complete my 12 years of ordained ministry, I thank God for all the responsibilities entrusted and the trust He has on me. I am reminded of the need to introspect and see where I place myself in this great mission of God. I humble myself before the Almighty God for the inadequacies and the inabilities I had throughout the years. And consider very seriously the words of James “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers and sisters, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness” (James 3:1).

In the latter half of the Christian era, there was a great move to claim everyone as part of ‘royal priesthood’ quoting 1 Peter 2: 9. In order to have such a claim, we need to understand the proper context of the text. The important aspect is not mere a role which needs to be highlighted rather the duties and the responsibilities tagged to it. We are called as fragrance to our Savior Jesus Christ. The invitation is to become fulltime ministers for the Almighty God. In a Christian act, there is always a call as well as responsibility attached to it. For example, when we partake in the Holy Table the call is to become a sacrificial object for the living God. Most of the time we conveniently forget such core aspects and run after position and power which will disfigure the function and nature of Christian life. Dearly beloved in Christ, always remember the call and the responsibilities we have as Christians and serve God to glorify His Holy will. I urge my young friends to come forward to take up the full time ministry in the church for our Savior Jesus Christ. Remember we are called to spread the fragrance to all parts of the world. “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father” (John 14: 12). Urging all parishioners to prayerfully partake in all the church activities. Prayers.

Mr. Thomas George Sr ( 80) passed away on June 7th. Funeral Service was held on June 15th at 2 pm at Ingram Funeral Home. Choir Members 18th Southern Regional Conference July 11 - July 14 [Flyer]

Youth from the South Florida Marthoma Church will be present at church this Sunday (May 26) to talk about the conference and to help with registrations. I encourage all youth to attend and please make checks payable to "Youth Fellowship of SFMTC" or through Venmo "SFMTC-Youth". Alabama Native American Mission VBS

We are looking for 1-2 adults to drive the youth from Atlanta to Alabama for the Alabama mission trip. They would drop the youth off in Alabama on July 15, drive back to ATL on July 16 and comeback to Alabama on July 21 to bring youth back to Atlanta. Kindly let us know if you would like to help or know someone who can help out.

The Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists Association of the Diocese of North America and Europe is hosting the 15th MTVEA Diocesan Conference on August 1st to 4th 2019 in Toronto St. Mathews Mar Thoma Church.

The theme of the conference is based on 1 Cor 3:9, “Co-Workers of the Kingdom of God” and will lead by Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa, and our own prominent clergy and lay leaders.
