Report on Diya Decoration Competition Date and Venue: An inter class competition was organized for the students of grade 1 on 24.10.2016 in their own classes. Demonstrator and Presenter: The mother teacher conducted the competition in their respective classes and out of them, the best three decorated Diyas were handed over to the Activity In-charge. Agenda: 1. The competition was organized to emphasize importance of festival of Diwali 2. To make the students aware about harmful uses of crackers and saying “No to crackers” 3. To enhance students’ engagement and competitive spirit among them. 4. To make them aware of celebration of green and pollution free Diwali. Participants: The entire class participated in the competition. Highlights: Student decorated the diyas using mirrors and other decorative materials. All the students participated enthusiastically. Analysis: The judgment was based on presentation, use of decorative items, neatness of work and creativity of the students. Results at a Glance:

Assembly on Green Diwali

Date &Venue :

An assembly was conducted on “Green Diwali” on 27th October 2016 in the VBS assembly ground by at 08:00 a.m.

Demonstrator &Presenter :

Conducted by : Ms. Reema Kapoor Presented by : Students of grade IV-C

Agenda :

1) To make the students understand the importance of Green and pollution free Diwali. 2) To convey the message that we should celebrate Diwali with a difference, keeping in mind an

important cause; that is of saving our planet. 3) To display the smart ways in which we can go green during Diwali and thus save our

environment. Participants :

Highlights :

Good anchoring by students.

Teacher’s talk by the class teacher emphasizedthe importance of celebrating pollution free Diwali.

Through a small skit celebration of Diwali without crackers was presented

News for the day was covered (national, international and sports).

Quiz was conducted for grade I-V.

Birthday celebration was held.

Best dressed students were appreciated.

Outcome :

The entire class participated in the assembly (directly or indirectly) enhancing their teamwork and coordination, thus achieving the very purpose of conducting an assembly.

Visit to Orphanage

Date & Venue: On 28 Oct.16, VBS organized a visit to a Governmentauthorised Orphanage at RajenderBagh, Sahibabad U.P.

Demonstrator & Presenter Ms. Bhawna Oberai, Ms. SeemaSareen& Mr. Rajesh Khanna Agenda:

1) To instill the value of sharing and caring among students. 2) To bring happiness, smile and cheer for the underprivileged. 3) To add real meaning to the festival of lights and brightness. 4) To develop virtue of empathy and compassion in students.

Participants : Grade XI & XII students and Student Council members

Highlights :

1) Students enthusiastically participated in the event. They donated wholeheartedly both in cash as well as kind.

2) At the orphanage they not only distributed the gifts they carried with them but also interacted with children, shared the discussion on varied topics.

Outcome: Students learnt the joy of giving and sharing happiness with others. They understood that virtues of empathy, compassion and care for others are hallmarks of good responsible and virtuous human beings.

An interactive session.

Based on the principle of working alliance – a set of norms expected to be followed by all delegates as well.

Enlightened about the importance of using names, it is a part of our identityfeel connected with our names.

Conducted an activity on introducing our names by associating it with a hand gesture

Stressed on raising awareness about Sesame Approach that is using drama and movement as powerful resources to promote healing and change in people.

Introduced delegates to the concept of enhancing concentration power using games

Gave a precise difference between direct and indirect attunement besides elaborating definitions of terms like "Mirroring", “Case Histories”, “Psychotherapy”, “Bridging out”, “Self Reflections”, “Archetypes”.

Discussed the various activities that can be used with CWSN.

Counsellor advised to maintain principle of mirroring with students who have extra needs.

Emphasized that all types of disabilities are treatable.

Along with discussion on the history of DMP an activity on self-reflection was performed

On 5th November RashiBijlani andAnshumaKshetrapal • Informed about the importance of dancing and movement especially for those who are hyperactive. It is a good way for them to release their extra energies in a constructive manner. • Discussed the aspects of Frued’s theory "Conscious", "Subconscious", "Unconscious". • Stressed on the need to maintain a good rapport with CWSN. • Demonstrated an activity in which all the delegates had to choose an animal, think that they are that animal, had to make sound and move like that animal. • Stressed on the need for holistic development of the child. • Stressed on teaching Laban Movement Analysis (LMA). • Gave a difference between therapy and therapeutic. • Made the delegates aware about the ethics which have to be followed by DMP therapist. • Emphasized that it is mandatory that each school to have DMP Department. • Concluded by answering the questions put up by various delegates and by conducting an activity where everyone would say their name and goodbye with the help of body gestures. Outcome:

• Became aware of the various DMP techniques and activities for dealing with various disabilities.

• Familiarization with the practical activities and games which can be applied to a student who has extra needs.

• An opportunity to meet the best and the brightest professionals in the field of special education and DMP.

Workshop cumComputer Training Session

Date and venue A workshop cum Computer Training session was organized for the teachers of grade I to III on 05.11.2016 in the Computer lab.

Demonstrator and Presenter The workshop was conducted by Ms. TanuSardana.

Agenda To provide basic computer training to help teachers to be more techno savy To facilitate teachers to be use digital technology for correspondence To use computer with ease To become familiar with MS Word, Excel, Internet and Printer

Participants The teachers of grade I to III - Ms. RituMukhi, Ms. ManjuBatra, Ms. Vaishali, Ms. Bineeta, Ms. Renu Vats, Ms. Shivalee, Ms. SunitaChhibber, Ms. Swati Seth, Ms. GauriGoswami and Ms. Jaya.

Highlights The participants showed great enthusiasm in knowing features/ options such as MS Word, Excel, Internet and Printer. The queries of teachers were solved by the demonstrator.

Analysis The teachers understood the demonstrated options. A few of them showed great enthusiasm while

grasping the established options.

Sports Meet at Vidya Bharati School

Children are often compared with soft clay, carved carefully as aware, disciplined, confident and

responsible scholars in the nurturing atmosphere of a school. Allround development of its

students is the first and foremost single minded endeavor of VBS. It focuses equally on affective

cognitive and psychomotor domains of learning. Considering education with entertainment both

an integral part of a child’s personality - a sports meet full of fun and frolic was organized by the

school on 16th November 2016.

Presenters: To celebrate Children’s Day and make the students feel special and privileged on this special day this event was planned. It was designed, coordinated and executed by Ms.Sonakshi, Ms.Shruti Seth and Ms.Reema Kapoor Agenda: 1) To develop motor skills, perseverance, hard work, sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and coordination among participating students. 2) To inculcate the virtue of respect, friendliness, trust and integrity in them Participants: Students of Grade Nursery to Grade III Highlights: The energetic tiny VBSians were assembled in the assembly ground to witness a vibrant yet informative puppet-show designed and presented aesthetically by Pre Primary facilitators. It was further carried on by a fun packed sports event. Various races for different grades were organized in the school playground. The spirited and resilient students participated in them with great zeal and fervour.

Among the bevy of events, musical chair and tug- of- war were also enjoyed by the pupils. The School Principal, Ms.MeenakshiZarabi congratulated the winners and honoured them with awards and certificates. The Sports Meet was declared close by the Principal.

Outcome: The atmosphere at theschool playground was exhilarating and delightful.It was a successful attempt which achieved its purpose of amusing the students on the day dedicated to them.

Visit to Bal Bhawan “Learning doesn’t end within the four corners of the classroom”

Date and venue An excursion was organized to Bal Bhawan for the students of grade I & II on 19.11.2016

Agenda

1. This trip was an effort to complement what was being taught in class. Fresh insights could best be entreated with visuals from a real display.

2. To support classroom learning with excursions 3. To enhance student’s engagement in learning beyond books. 4. The students were although familiar with some of what they saw and made the learning process explorative and a joyful experience.

Highlights

The fascinating art and painting display at the entrance captivated the hearts of the children. The walls of the hallways depicted a panorama of Indian diversity, glimpses of our culture, assorted art and craft, rituals and traditions, amongst others. The little visitors were excited to explore them all.

The tiny tots’ anticipation reached its peak when they saw the activity rooms - music,

dance, art, book-binding, wood craft, clay- modeling, and puppetry, amongst others.

At the Art and Craft Gallery, the children were amazed to see the craft work done, utilizing

waste material

The aquarium was another attraction where the sight of colorful fish was a treat to the eye

for the children

The Toy Train attracted the attention of the little ones! The students took a joy ride in the

toy train through a tunnel and over a bridge. With the whistle, smoke and chuff, the train

took them around the premises of Bal Bhawan showcasing graffiti on the walls depicting

the different states of India and their culture

Analysis It was a great learning experience for the students.

They thoroughly enjoyed this beyond the books learning experience.

REPORT ON RANGOLI MAKING COMPETITION

Date and Venue: An Intra class Rangoli Making Competition was organized on 18thNovember 2016for the students

of Grade IV in their respective classes

Demonstrator and Presenter: Conducted by Class Teachers of grade IV Ms. Shruti Seth Ms. SimmyTyagi Ms. Reema Kapoor

Agenda: To introduce to students Rangoli as the part of Indian custom, tradition and ritual. To enhance the creative thinking of the students. To make them understand & use their innovative ideas of making Rangoli by usingdifferent

geometrical shapes.

To bring out students’ innate talent through the activity. To give wings to their imagination. Participants : Students of Grade IV Highlights: All the students participated enthusiastically.They showed keen interest while doing this activity. They were explained how to use their creative ideas and give shape to Rangoli on a sheet of paper using different geometrical shapes/patterns. They came up with ideas which were innovative and creative and presented Rangoli in a new look.

Analysis:- The activity was a great learning experience for igniting student’s imagination. They came to know how to make Rangoli with various geometrical shapes/patterns & decorative material. It brought out their inherent talent and imagination.

TRIP TO CITY FOREST (GHAZIABAD)

Date &Venue:

An excursion was organized by Vidya Bharati School to City Forest on 19th November 2016. Agenda:

1) To enable students to learn beyond classrooms. 2) To give students a wonderful exposure nature and its picturesque beauty. 3) To help them develop power of observation, exploration. 4) To develop their aesthetic sense by being a part of natural environment. 5) To bond with nature and enjoy its scenic beauty.

Highlights:

A very peaceful and pleasant place for relaxation and enjoying nature.

A perfect place with lots of greenery, fresh and clean water, boating, cycling, horse/camel riding, Jeep Safari etc.

Gardens to walk and explore, breathe fresh and pure air, an ideal gateway from polluted roads and maddening crowd.

Outcome: It was a wonderful outing which gave pleasure, broke monotony and filled the minds with joy. It also provided an opportunity for close interaction with peers, a chance for the teacher to observe and interact with the students in a more informal environ of natural and quaint setting.

REPORT ON MEDITATION CAMP

VBS is a premier institution that always indulges itself in bringing about something unique and at the same time beneficial for its students.This time around the pressure among the students of grade XII starts to grow slowly, gradually and steadily. The best way to counter this menace of in-confidence, self- doubt stress and pressure is Meditation.

VBS has organised a 21stday meditation session starting from 21st Nov 2016. These sessions are taken by the Principal, Ms. MeenakshiZarabi.The meditation session titled “Enlightening mind by igniting soul”is an endeavour to help our students to form effortless sustained single-pointed concentration.Meditation has a calming effect and directs awareness inward until pure awareness is achieved, described as "being awake inside without being aware of anything except awareness itself”.These meditation sessions are helping the students to lower the academic stress, also have better concentration, more alertness, and greater resistance to the physical effects of stress during exams. The benefits that the students envisage from the meditation sessions are that these will help them to have better focus, brain integrity and efficiency which will help them to raise I.Q. level. Some students feel that these meditation sessions will give them an expansive and relaxed way of thinking which will assist them to bring clarity, creativity, better sleep & better social interactions, reduction in absenteeism, depression and anxiety.

CELEBRATION OF CONSTITUTION DAY

A REPORT

Vidya Bharati School celebrated Constitution Day on 25th November 2016. A Special Assembly on

Constitution and Preamble was conducted by the Social Science faculty in which mass reading of

the Preamble was done by Ms. Vineeta Sharma. Ms. Sonakshi Badhwar read the Fundamental

duties for all. A very informative and interesting ‘Talk Show’ was organized by the Social science

Department in which the students of IX – XI participated. The students and the panel of experts

presented their views about the Constitution & the Preamble, which were further enriched by the

expert comments of the presenters MsMadhurima and MsSeema Sinha who brought out the

essence of Preamble and its relevance in true sense. The Assembly ended on a very patriotic note

with the students presenting a dance on the song ‘Bharat kaSamvidhan’. The students of grade VI

– VIII participated in the Slogan Writing Competition with the Theme – Ideals of Preamble and

Grade IX – XII students participated in the competition ‘Designing of Preamble for School’. A Quiz

was conducted at 2 levels. Avika Singh, Turab Zaidi & Aditya Baloni were the winners of Level 1

and SimranMeelu, SanjanaPundir& Mansi Kansal were the winners of Level 2 Quiz Competition.

Inter House Football Tournament (Boys)- 2016-17 On 28 November 2016, Inter House Football Tournament for boys was organized in VBS. The four houses Pratap, Shivaji, Subhash& Patel participated in it. The tournament was on knock out basis.

Class Assembly on Self Discipline

Date & Venue: A class assembly with the theme “Self Discipline” was conducted on 2nd December 2016 in the assembly ground of VBS at 08:00 a.m. Demonstrator & Presenter: Conducted by : Ms. Reema Kapoor Presented by : Students of grade IV-C Agenda:

4) To make the students understand the importance of Self Discipline. 5) To convey the message that Discipline is the key to success and no one can achieve

anything big in the life without discipline. 6) It is imperative to obey parents and teachers to be a successful person in our life. 7) To learn the smart ways by which we can become a self disciplined student.

Good anchoring by students.

Teacher’s talk by the class teacher emphasized the importance of Self Discipline.

Through a small skit titled “How to becomeself disciplined in the school” was presented in today’s context. The prop of solar system, Sun with its eight planets come forward to give students 3G ideas on Self Discipline.

News for the day was covered (national, international and sports)

Quiz was conducted for grade I-V.

Birthday celebration was held.

Best dressed student were appreciated. Outcome: The entire class participated in the assembly (directly or indirectly) enhancing their teamwork and coordination, thus achieving the purpose of the assembly.

Report on Inter Class Spellathon Activity for Grade I to III

The objective of the Spellathon competition was to motivate children to take keen interest in

enriching their vocabulary and pronunciation skills

To become effective and impressive communicators.

To inculcate the desireto know new words, even challenging ones, with precision and poise.

To provide children with a valuable experience of listening, understanding and writing so to

develop the language skills.

Students of grade I, II &III

Highlights

There were six main rounds in the Spellathon Activity i.e. Spell check, Synonyms Antonyms,

Web round, who will smash me, Jumble tumble & Jigsaw Puzzle.

The Audience were also abuzz and were equal enthusiastic participantsand were cheering

their respective classes.

All the participants spelled the words with aplomband enthusiasm.

Analysis

Students with the help of this activity understood the importance of having good vocabulary.

.The students fared excellently and came out with flying colours

They came to know how to make new words using a few alphabets.

This activity was a learning process for students which they enjoyed doing. It enriched their

thinking process.

Through this activity the students enhanced their vocabulary skills.

REPORT ON CLASS ASSEMBLY

AClass Assembly on the theme, “Honesty is the Best Policy”was conducted by students of Grade VII A on 2ndDecember 2016. The assembly started with a warm welcome by its anchors, Pratishtha and Radhey Sharma. Thought for the Day was presented by Turab and news update covering national, international & sports eventswas given by a group of students. Post updating of the news, teacher’s talk was presented by Mrs. Sreelatha wherein she stressed on the importance of being honest.Amime based on the topic, “Honesty is the best policy” was then presented by the students of grade VIIA. Birthday buddies and well- dressed students were greeted and congratulated. Quiz was conducted by Chetan and Raunak wherein questions were asked from the students of Grade VI to VIII. All students showed their overwhelminginterest and enthusiasm and actively participated in the Quiz by answering the questions put to them. The assembly concluded withthe National Anthem.

Report on Workshop - World of Autism Date & Venue: A workshop on “World of Autism” was conducted on December 6, 2016 at RG Square Mall, Patparganj, Delhi Demonstrator & Presenter: It was conducted by DrAshimaShrivastav Agenda: • To provide a platform where counselors and teachers can meet and discuss various issues related to autism • Sensitization of teachers regarding autism and how to prevent it. Delegates Ms. Sonakshi Badhwar TGT (Social Science) Ms. BhuvanIsrani School Counselor from VBS Counselors, TGTs and PGTs from schools in Delhi, Noida & NCR Highlights: The Resource Person, DrAshimaShrivastav • Started an interactive session. • Informed the delegates about the definition and researches on autism. • Discussed what is autism and how to identify a child suffering from autism. • Stressed on raising awareness among general public regarding autism. • Revealed that a students as old as 3 years too can suffer from autism. • Gave a precise difference between play therapy and occupational therapy and how it positively affects those who have autism. • Discussed the red flag symptoms of autism. • Gave elaborate definitions of terms like “Diagnostic Tools”, “Applied Behaviour Analysis”, “Therapies”, “ESDM (Early Start Denver Model)”, "Eating Disorder", • Stressed that proper diet and nutrition is helpful for autistic children- omega 3 fatty acid and that proper vitamins and minerals should be given to autistic children. • Emphasized that all principals should conduct a teacher workshop on mental health. • Answered to all the questions put up by the delegates at the end of session Outcome:

• Created aware of the various autistic behavior and what causes autism. • Got familiar with the techniques which can be applied to identify if a student is having

autism. • Got to know ways to manage a class with autistic children. • Interaction with the best and the brightest professionals in the field of disability.
