would send forth laborers into Your harvest. Of Your infinite mercy give us teachers and ministers of Your

warned, instructed, nurtured, comforted, and strengthened by Your holy Word, may do those things which are

Welcome! We greet you in the name of Jesus Christ! We are glad that you are worshiping with

us this morning!

Attendance Cards are available in the pew racks. Guests and members, please fill one out and

indicate any way in which the people of St. Paul’s might be of service to you. As the offerings are

received, pass to the center aisle. The Pastors look forward to meeting you after the service.

Children’s Worship materials are available on the landing outside Fellowship Hall. A Nursery is

available on the lower level, an usher can direct you.

The celebration of the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ as He gives us His body and blood with

bread and wine in the sacrament occurs every weekend at St. Paul’s, either in the sanctuary

service or the service in the North Campus gym. Anyone who wishes to commune here for the

first time and who is not a member of St. Paul’s or a congregation of The Lutheran Church-

Missouri Synod, is asked to speak with one of the Pastors before the service.

For those communing, examine yourself with these questions: Do I believe I am a sinner and

am I sorry for my sins? Do I believe Christ’s true body and blood to be present in the Lord’s

Supper for the forgiveness of sins? Do I earnestly intend with the help of God to amend my sinful

life?

Gluten-free wafers are available; please indicate your need to the Pastor. Non-alcoholic wine is

available in the center of each tray.

The symbol on the cover is designed to honor the Office of the Public Ministry. The purpose of the

ministry is to proclaim the message of salvation in Christ, through the Word and Sacraments, as

shown by the chalice, host, and shell on the Bible, superimposed on the Cross. The stole and the

shepherd’s crook symbolize that a pastor is a servant of God and a shepherd of God’s people.

Exhortation 1 John 1:8–9

Behold, the word of the LORD came to [Elijah], and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

He said, “I have been very jealous for the LORD, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken

Your covenant, thrown down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am

left, and they seek my life, to take it away.” And He said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the

LORD.”

other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not

under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity,

strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like

these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of

God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-

control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh

with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

KEVIN CRAIG THOMSON

Kevin, son of Ian and Jackie Thomson, was born in Peoria,

Illinois on July 24, 1990. His family also includes a younger

sister, Stephanie. As a family they have moved a few times in

both Illinois and Wisconsin. Currently his family lives in

Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, which is a northwest suburb of

Milwaukee.

After graduating high school, Kevin attended Concordia

University Chicago. Prior to attending college it was the

intent that he pursue the pastoral ministry in the future.

However, Kevin double majored in Sociology and

Theological Languages, with a minor in Spanish, to broaden

his academics before Seminary. During his time at Concordia

University Kevin met his wife, Jordan (née Scifres). Jordan and Kevin were both very active on campus at

Concordia. Kevin was involved with the soccer team, youth ministry programs, and campus jobs. Jordan was

involved with volleyball, youth ministry programs, and other campus activities.

The summer after Kevin graduated from Concordia University, he married Jordan in Greenwood, Indiana. Jordan

is from Greenwood, an Indianapolis suburb, and much of her family is from Indiana. They were married on July

14, 2012, and then moved to Concordia Seminary St. Louis that summer for Kevin to begin his coursework. After

two years of campus studies, Kevin served his vicarage in Warner Robins, Georgia before returning for his final

year of campus coursework. While at the Seminary, Kevin was involved with the soccer team, grounds crew, and

other campus activities.

In their final year at the Seminary Kevin and Jordan were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Charlotte Mae

Thomson was born on December 2, 2015. All three of the Thomsons are eager to transition from the Seminary to

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Kevin and Jordan will temporarily be renting a house in Overland, Missouri as they

continue to house-hunt for a permanent house to purchase closer to St. Paul’s.

At St. Paul’s… Ordination-Installation of James Kirschenmann

St. Paul’s, Des Peres members are invited to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, College Hill (2137 E John Ave, St.

Louis 63107) on Sunday, June 26, at 3:00 p.m., for the Service of Ordination and Installation of Pastor James

Kirschenmann. This special service will include the Lutheran Jazz Liturgy recently completed by Vicar James

Miller.

Social Ministry Weekend

This weekend’s purpose is to assist people in time of need and is the annual fundraising drive for Social Ministry.

Social Ministry is not included in the church budget, so the money collected is their only source of income. Social

Ministry appreciates those members who regularly bring the “yellow bags” back filled with food, but more is

needed than food. Funds are necessary to help people with problems other than hunger. If you forgot your special

envelope today, please bring it any weekend with your gift for Social Ministry. Please find it in your hearts to

Mattresses, stoves, refrigerators, washing machines, strollers or cribs are desperately needed for Otis Land in N St

Louis. Mattresses are especially needed as many live in old houses and sleep on the floor. Otis Land is working

with families to get them basic furniture and appliances and whatever else they need to give them hope and a

future. Those serving on staff at Otis Land will be glad to pick up your donations. Call the church office to

donate.

Thrivent Donations

In response to the tragic shooting event in Orlando, Thrivent members who want to help can direct Choice Dollars

or donate directly to one of the following local churches working diligently to support the victims and their

families: Trinity Lutheran Church in Orlando or St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Longwood, FL. Thrivent will

match all Choice Dollars directions and personal donations to these churches made on Thrivent.com through July

Erin’s latest CD is available in the church office. Copies of her CD, “Be Still My Soul,’ are also available. The

CDs are $20 each with $5 of each purchase donated to the Music Ministry of St. Paul’s. We are thankful for Erin

and the Lord’s ministry through her here at St. Paul’s and in the community.

Just saying thank you does not seem adequate for my incredible retirement celebration. It was an amazing and

unforgettable day. A very special thank you to the committee for all of their hard work. It is very much

appreciated. Thank you for your kind words, your cards, and your gifts. I look forward to what God has planned

in this next stage of my life. To quote the class motto of this year’s eighth grade class: “We don’t know what the

future holds but we know Who holds the future.” Thank you again for your kindness and generosity. It has all

been a bit overwhelming, but a very good kind of overwhelming.
