Kids are attracted by the "game" portions--outdoor activities and just plain fun. But our ultimate purpose is to help youth grow in citizenship, character, and mental, moral and physical fitness. Our effectiveness as adult leaders depends on how well we understand the aims and methods of the program. Training will help you accomplish these goals, plus provide you with resources, ideas and fellowship. Here are the specifics of what we will be offering: Cub Scout Leaders Specific Training Cub Scout Den Leader and Assistant Den Leader Specific Training (3 hours ) Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training has been developed to give you, a new leader, the knowledge and skills and to generate the enthusiasm that you'll need to be successful. It is made up of three parts: an introduction to Scouting and the Cub Scout Pack, a module on how Cub Scouts have fun in the pack and den, and training for your specific Cub Scout position. Following are the specific training objectives for each position. Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster Specific Training Objectives:

• Define the roles of the Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster

• Describe the Cub Scout Advancement Program • Review the importance of pack program planning

• Plan a pack meeting

• Describe the Cubmaster Award

• Succeed as a Cubmaster

Pack Committee Specific Training Objectives:

• Define the role of the pack committee • Describe the make up of the pack committee

• List the people who support the pack committee • Explain the pack planning process

• Discuss how packs are funded

• Describe where packs get help

Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Specific Training (5 hours)

This course is a new Scoutmaster's and Assistant Scoutmaster's introduction to the Boy Scouts of America and to the responsibilities, opportunities, and resources that will ensure a successful troop leadership experience. Course topics include:

• The Role of the Scoutmaster

• Troop Organization

• Troop Meetings

• Working with Boy Leaders

• The Patrol Method

• The Patrol Leaders' Council

• The Outdoor Program

• The Advancement Program

• Program Planning

• Membership

• Paperwork

• Finances

Venturing Leaders Specific Training (4-5 hours)

Following ‘This is Scouting Training,’ this course is phase two of a new Venturing leader's introduction to the Boy Scouts of America and to the responsibilities, opportunities, and resources that will ensure a successful crew leadership experience. This training is designed to introduce adult leaders to the basic information needed to operate a Venturing Crew. Course topics include:

• Introduction to Venturing • Understanding and Protecting Youth

• Resources and Program Planning

• Leadership and Organization

• Awards and Recognition

Chartered Org Rep & Committee Chairs Training (4 hours)

Chartered Organization Representative Specific Training helps Chartered Organization Representatives understand the important role they play in the operation of the Council and their units. By serving as liaison between the Chartered Organization and the unit leadership, the Chartered Organization Representative ensures that the unit thrives, and that the Chartered Organization’s goals are met.

This training is also recommended for Unit committee chairs and Unit Leaders who will work most closely with their unit’s Chartered Organization representative.
