Launch of Delivering Connector for External Charger to Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

Fujikura's charging connectors with a lead cable to connect a fast charger to an electric car have been on sale since 2010. The CHAdeMO connector of Fujikura has been selected for use in Power Exporter 9000 of Honda Motor Co., Ltd since the performance and design of the connector are highly regarded. Power Exporter 9000 is a portable external power output device. This device can draw electricity from vehicles powered by electricity such as FCVs (fuel cell vehicles), EVs (electric vehicles) and PHEVs (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) and output both 100 V and 200 V AC simultaneously (up to 9 kVA). This product can be used as a power source for emergency use in times of disaster or outdoor use. Fujikura's charging connector with a lead cable sends electricity from an electric mobility to Power Exporter 9000. We will continuously develop products that meet our customer needs and contribute to society.

Fujikura News

For more than three decades, Fujikura has been developing and providing highly radiation resistant optical fiber products for a variety of nuclear facilities in the world. We have developed a thin radiation-resistant fiberscope system for nuclea facilities. The optical fibers employed in this fiberscope performs high radiation resistance based on high-purity silica glass fiber technologies. Probe tip consists of five connected thin stainless steel pipes with a 1.5 mm outer diameter. It facilitates access into a narrow space and capture images. We can offer monitoring system with video monitor and video recorder. This fiberscope system is suitable for observation and inspection in the narrow area which consists of small-diameter pipes such as assembly of nuclear fuel rod.We can design the observation system to use environment and application.

Lithium ion capacitor modules(From left, 12 V, 24 V, 36 V modules)

Fujikura has developed a small lightweight lithium ion capacitor of its energy density five times higher than an electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) and twice higher than a conventional lithium ion capacitor. Because of such a feature, this capacitor is expected to become one of the capacitors suitable for use in portable equipment, mobile units and vehicles. Thus we are working on putting the capacitor to practical use in two years. The energy density of this product has successfully been increased to 19 W/kg by increasing capacitance per unit weight of the cathode manufactured using our proprietary design methodologies and material techniques. In addition, a low internal resistance of the product was also achieved by modifying the electrolyte to prevent the internal resistance from rising with an increase in the energy density. This allows the lithium ion capacitor to maintain its inherently excellent power input/output property and secure enhanced reliability due to reductions in heat generated by the cell.Furthermore, we proceed with the development of a 5,000 F-level cell that has already achieved an internal resistance of 0.9 milliohms with an eye toward future increase in capacitance of capacitors.Small lightweight capacitors with an excellent input/output property and reliability are required in society, which is becoming increasingly dependent on electric power. We have high expectations of the new product to be used in different devices such as mobile phones, wearable devices, vehicles and trains.
