The Coping with Divorce seminar is a speaker series and peer support group designed to help meet the needs of

Dr. Divorce

Dear Dr. Divorce, How do you interface with an inexperi-enced attorney? Signed, Mack Intosh

Dear Mack,

Hit the escape button! First of all, we don’t interface with

anybodywe talk or communicate with them, and communi-cating with an attorney is very difficult. The right tool for the

right jobyour attorney should have half his/her practice in divorce. I had a friend who hired a very brilliant attorney who got their kid off a drunken driving charge. Brilliant as he was he knew nothing about divorce or small corporations, and the couple had to essentially do all the work them-selves, paid a high hourly rate to the total of $3,000, and got very poor help. The lesson to be learned is competent or incompetent your attorneys need to be coached by you. They know the courts but you know what you need. Be clear, write things down before you meet with your attor-

ney, make copies of everythingone for yourself and one for your attorney. The more financial information you gath-er and the more you articulate what you want on paper, the clearer you will be about what you want, what you need and what the financial situation will allow.

About the Retreat….

We are often told to forgive and forget, let it go, move on, forget it, get over it already!

Has anyone ever told you how to do it? Where do you begin?

Do you have to forget when you can’t? Do you need to have a relationship with that person?

Do you need to forgive yourself????

With DVD presentation, group discussion, self reflection, and understanding self and others, you will get the needed infor-

mation to begin a healing process.

Along with forgiveness, you will also be taught grounding tech-niques and how to change your negative thoughts.

Each participant will have time to stroll through our log home property, sit by the outdoor fire pit, or by the indoor fireplace,

walk down to the water’s edge, or wander through the woods. There will be plenty of indoor and outdoor Space to reflect,

contemplate, and rejuvenate.
