FUNDING GUIDE
In Fall 2017 King’s Gate Christian Schools will open a new location servicing the elementary grades. The expanded campus at Surrey Hills Baptist Church includes 550 feet of riparian land that will provide the focal point of a new outdoor classroom. A creek bed, wetlands and forested area are home to a red fox den, over 20 known species of birds, deer and several other animal species that will be studied throughout the year. Knowing our outdoor classroom and playground will provide an awe-inspiring place of spiritual growth, innovative learning and imaginative play. It seems only appropriate to call it Project: WonderGround. The natural space will provide opportunities for children to be involved in a wide range of new and different hands-on activities that will inspire and challenge our students – no matter their ages or learning differences.
Like our indoor classrooms, it will contain designated areas for meetings, art, music, physical education, building and free exploration. Our goal is to increase the time that our students spend outdoors, all while nurturing that sense of wonder that is so critical to their well-being and personal growth.
As a non-profit 501c3 school, we depend on the generous support of donors like you! We have been preparing the butterfly garden this summer, but we will need full funding support before we can embark on the construction of the playground. No contribution to this project is too small or too big! Donations will go toward the construction of the playground and outdoor classroom.
We all have organizations that appeal to us for our support. We ask that you choose to support King’sGate Christian School; after all, this is an organization that is close to your home and close to the hearts of so many families in our community.
GOD bless,
Wyndi BradleyHead of School

The Wonders of Creation Fueling Children’s Imaginations
In Fall 2017 King’s Gate Christian Schools will open a new location for elementary students. Classrooms and curriculum have been carefully prepared to challenge the minds of our students, and a thoughtful plan has been crafted to create an outdoor space that reflects both the beauty of the natural landscape and the opportunities it contains. The expanded campus at Surrey Hills Baptist Church will feature a new outdoor classroom taking advantage of the natural wetland that borders the school grounds. In addtion we will have a buttefly garden and a unique playground inspired by the landscape.
We recognize that children have a natural desire to explore, inquire and investigate. Education begins with the curiosity of the learner. Hands-on and project-based learning strategies are used to engage students in authentic problem-solving and critical thinking. At King’s Gate Christian School we want our students to develop a love of GOD’s creation. They will learn how to steward the earth’s resources as we give them the opportunity to experience the majesty of GOD’s creation while they play.
The development of our outdoor space was designed to inspire and promote curiosity. The classroom, the garden and the unique playground make up King’s Gate’s WonderGround.

WELCOME TO WONDERGROUND
King’s Gate WonderGround is tailored to the landscape: the campus borders a natural wetland so we are building an Outdoor Classroom and Observation Deck. An extraordinary place for kids to directly observe natural science, this is also an opportunity to promote conservation by protecting an eco system abundant with wildlife.
The Playground is not your traditional playground area. This area will promote physical activty, and will be constructed with recycled and repurposed materials like tractor tires and natural elements reclaimed from the wetland. It will be a place to challenge young bodies and young minds - reinforcing a curriculum of ecological stewardship.

02Built high above the ground, surrounded by trees, the wildlife observation deck allows students to observe nature from a bird’s eye view. The bird blind provides a literal “peep-hole” to the wide variety of birds in the area and gives birds a protective boundary cover. Finally, the outdoor classroom seating area is a space for teachers to conduct lessons from the field. This outdor space is designed to allow students to experience their lessons with new perspectives and encourages teachers to find new ways to connect their lessons to the natural world.
01Over 180 butterflies and skippers can be found in Oklahoma. Besides serving as pollinators for native and cultivated plants, butterflies are a joy to watch and study. Our garden will be a place to help foster these important creatures, and provide an opportunity for students to learn the relationships between gardening, caring for nature and the lifecycle of native species. It will be a place of beauty and education.
BUTTERFLY GARDEN
The Outdoor Playground also reflects the landscape in an interesting way. Split into two zones, the Play Space includes a series of large “Tree-house” Decks. These decks are staggered along a grove of trees and promote social engagement and imaginative play. Tree-house elements like climbing ropes, rock climbing holds and ladders make transitions to each deck fun and physically challenging, while encouraging small groups to interact.

Slides take kids to the 2nd zone - the “Fall Zone” which is a traditional playground area. This area will feature the usual elements to challenge growing bodies (swings and monkey bars) as well as a cool tractor tire climb, recycled timber balance beams and a slack line. This will be a unique area featuring recycled, repurposed and reimagined materials honoring our desire to conserve and to inspire creativity.

4. SPREAD THE WORD
Social Media has changed the way people interact. The ability to reach a huge
audience and align brands with positive social causes has never been greater.
An online survey of 1,021 adults done in October found that 71 percent of those
active on online social networks donated to a charity over the previous year. The poll
also found that personal appeals from friends matter more than trending topics.
The WonderGround campaign can be found at https://www.facebook.com/
HeadSquirrel/. Please share our page with friends and family to help us extend our
reach in the community.
