Driving on roads of Vindhyanagar is hypocrisy !

Every time I meet a driver on the streets of Vindhyanagar I observe a funnydual behavior that most of these drivers perform. When there is a man-in-uniform & a stick-in-hand stands at the 'Munna Garage' crossing ,who looks

more like a joker than a real traffic police , every driver irrespective of rank andfile follows traffic rules.

This happens mostly during the morning rush hours when everybody just kickstarts their vehicle and then rush towards the plant. Look at their eyes, alldisgruntled with clenched teeth go round the traffic circle. Even the huge truckthat comes from Maitri Sabhagar side, too reduces speed & with proper nodgoes past the traffic circle. However, during all through these trials andtribunals the man-in-uniform & stick-in-hand hardly does anything more thanlooking here and there. Sometimes he stands entirely on the opposite side ,chewing tobacco but still the traffic behaves orderly such is the fear ofauthority.

Whereas , at 1:00 PM when the traffic reverses, everybody rushes from plantto township and there is no man-in-uniform & stick-in-the-hands near thetraining center triangle all these drivers feeling completely relaxed, goes onrampaging traffic rules collectively as if that's how the rule applies at thistime here.

However, another traffic intersection is near the tiny tots school here I neverfound any man-in-uniform & stick-in-hands . As a result from tiny-tots to middleaged pot belly senior executive to very old uncles breaking traffic rules is theonly acceptable rule here.

It's not that there is no stupid odd man or even an odd woman onVindhyanagar roads who always follow traffic rules but their number is so farand few between that it rarely creates any ripple here. They are absolutelyendangered species on the roads of Vindhyanagar.

Three years back when Anna Hazare's crusade hold India poised ,I was there ata rally at Powai, Mumbai. A good number of auto drivers too participated in thatrally.

One good looking person I befriended and asked , What about the 3 lacs autoand taxi drivers of Mumbai who cheats passengers everyday by tamperedmeters ? Isn't it a big collective crime !

Sir, leave the chota mota cheej, look at the big men who break big rules and

damages our society very big, we need to curb them first , apt came his reply.

Yes breaking rules in smaller scale is always adaptable and to be precisely

ignored in our hypocrite society of 115 million Indians, only when somethingbig happens like a gang rape in Delhi ,we all come in furor and demand aquick and very stringent punishments.

Sure, breaking a small traffic rule has no comparison with a heinous crime likegang rape but nothing really happens in vacuum. Those who are breaking bigrules today must have started breaking very small rules 20 / 30 years back and

those who are really breaking big rules today look further up to those whobreaks even bigger rules (Read A Raja 2G scam ) and then comparethemselves as breaking a very small rule which needs to be ignored precisely.

Comparison brings enormous peace and happiness in the minds of easy goingpeople. A 5 rupees crime is nothing when compared with a 5 lac rupees crimeand so it is tiny when compared with a 5 billion rupees crime.

Therefore, when a collective 3 lacs auto drivers cheat Mumbaikers everyday fora rupees 5 , or a few thousands Vindhyanagari breaks traffic rules every day &

night it becomes naught but when a bank is robbed or a gang rape takes placeit becomes a big unacceptable punishable crime.

115 million people can become hypocrite collectively in a small way withoutraising any eyebrow. That's what is peoples collective power - staying on wrongtrack with your ability and not getting side-tracked with other people's agenda.

But a crime is always a crime ,especially when a big strata of people committhe same crime every day it's an attitudinal problem which needs a differenttreatment altogether.
