The empty 3R mezzanine, September 1998. There

was a need to soundproof the room where the

machines work so it could be isolated from the

study, meeting, discussion and seminar rooms. Multi

uses for an originally empty and light space, open up

to the ceiling height of the room where the machines

work. A constant reorganization of the space is

needed, as well as stocking documents, personal

objects and various materials. It is also necessary to

maintain the intense light, the overall perception

that reinforces the concept of togetherness, which a

space like this is made for.

3R Mezzanine, July 1999. Being light and white, the

portable divisions on wheels suit the ample area, and

therefore one can see through the shadows of what

is happening behind these divisions. They do not

isolate, they allow interaction and books and

samples can be stored. The huge internal

perspective of the building is kept intact: the double

thickness of polyester squares of the transparent

sliding panels (2.60 cm high) isolates the noise of the

machines. Plastic, which may come from recycled

bottles and reforested logs are some of the materials

used in order to respect nature.

Nomads Sink

The Nomads Sink is made from aluminium, glass

and recycled polycarbonate. It is mobile and

light. The mobility is possible by the use of

flexible and extensive pipelines. It was designed

to make possible the flexible use of the domestic

spaces: as an extension for food preparation in

another space, optimizing the possibilities of use.

Trans [Active] Module

The Trans [Active] Module is made with material

of low environmental impact, like aluminium,

and recycled polycarbonate. The Trans [Active]

Module was made for optimizing the domestic

spaces. It is functionally flexible, and was

designed to support several inhabitation

equipments like a cook top, a sink, a

refrigerator, a microwave among others. It can

also be used like a cabinet, or a table. The

proposal of the Trans [Active] Module was

conceived to be used in a set of other modules,

each one with specific functions and the

possible arrangements to turn the space more

flexible. The intention of this project is to be a

response of the contemporary daily life needs.
