Further Music Magazine Research Evaluation:

The general public agreed that they would mainly like to see an interview of a band or artist, suggesting that when I create my media product that it should include an interview as my target audience would be more likely to read and by my media product.

The target audience would also like to see tour dates, upcoming artists, gossip and competitions, inferring that my media product would be more successfully if it was to be sold nationally as, as according to statistics my target audience would be more likely to buy my media product if it included these things. So to get people to but my media product I should include what my target audience would like to see.

If I were to create a media product which was aimed at the pop genre my audience advised me on what it may conceal. My insight about the pop genre has made me change my mind about creating a media product according to the pop genre as I have also looked at previous exemplars of students work and according to my research into previous students work I believe it would be too hard to create my media product without it looking really tacky and unprofessional, in which I don’t want my media product to portray that appearance.

Additionally the pop genre is more aimed at young teenagers and young children in whom I don’t want my target audience to be. It is also aimed at a more female majority than it is males, which is also another feature that I do not want my media product to have as I want to have more of a balance in sexes to preview my product.

Moreover it would feature celebrities such as Justin Bieber and pop looking artists/models in which I don’t know many people with this style therefore it would make it even harder for me to create a pop media product.

As establishing previously I do not want to construct a media product according to the pop genre, so my other choice was the indie/alternative/rock genre in which I thought it would be easier to create as it follows a bold colour scheme as according to statistics. I also know more about this genre and read many magazines according to this genre e.g. NME. Research shows that a magazine of this genre is likely to follow the trend of bold/strong colours e.g. red and black, to have band reviews, new artists and to have a urban and fun style.

According to my target audience (students) are more likely to read an indie/rock/alternative magazine suggesting that my media product is more likely to sell and have an impact if I were to create a product of this genre instead of the pop genre.

So according to statistics the main factor which influences my target audience to buy a magazine is the genre of music. This suggests that I have to ensure that when creating my media product that it has to be somewhat similar to what the genre would feature e.g. indie/rock a red/black/white colour scheme.

Referring to statistics the front cover is the most attracting/influencing factor therefore I have to make sure I capture a perfect photo to go on the front cover.

Secondly, my target audience have said that a free gift with the magazine would influence them to buy it more, inferring that I should include a free gift with my magazine to influence the target audience more to buy my product.
