CEA TECH: UNRIVALLED EXPERIENCE INTECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH
CEA Tech, the Technological Research Division of the CEA, ranked by Thomson Reuters as Europe’sfirst and the world’s second most innovative government research organization, developsinnovations that help French companies differentiate their products and improve their performanceso that they can remain competitive in today’s economy. CEA Tech has established regional centersto serve France’s major manufacturing hubs, bringing businesses in these regions the enablingtechnologies developed by the CEA. The FFLOR platform and its partners are working to make France’s Grand Est region a leader insolutions for the Factory of the Future. As a founding member of the Alliance Industrie du Futur, theCEA is rolling out its strategy at the regional, national, and European levels.

FFLOR is an open-accesscollaborative platform formanufacturers from all industries, integrators, technology providers, and researchers (industrial andacademic). It is designed topromote the emergence ofinnovative solutions for theFactory of the Future.
Two types ofpartnerships/memberships
1.User: A partnership agreementcovering the development of atechnology brick dedicated to amanufacturer’s specificapplication: Your partnership agreement alsoincludes membership.
2.Associate: A test campaign toverify the state of the art, validatean existing technology, orimplement a technologydeveloped under a collaborativeR&D program: You benefit from annualmembership (membership feespayable every year).
Benefits of FFLOR membership:• A comprehensive approach to theFactory of the Future
• Human resources and equipmenttogether in one place
• Access to high-added-valuetechnologies

A REPRESENTATIVE INDUSTRIAL FACILITY
5
FFLOR is located at PSA’s plant inTrémery, France. It is PSA’s largest motormanufacturing plant in the world, producing 85% of the auto maker’smotors.• The solutions developed are relevant toreal-world manufacturing scenarios andcan be rolled out more rapidly
• Close proximity to the automotive industry, where advanced manufacturing is a crucialissue
Because FFLOR is located at a real-world manufacturing plant, project teams andequipment operators can rapidly see how new developments will be used, from logisticsto production and in interaction with the information system.Projects are executed rapidly with the latest commercially-available technologies.

COLLABORATIVEROBOTIC CELLS
7
• Replicate manual and robotic assemblystations
• Share space and tasks• Human-robot collaboration and safety• Agile, flexible production resources
CONNECTEDLOGISTICS
• Efficient operator involvement in preparation tasks• Automation of low-added-value logistics tasks• Connection to production and information systems
8
• Loads balanced in all positions, much like workingin zero-gravity
• Virtual guiding of loads being carried• Smooth movements even with heavy loads forgreater operator safety
• Parts handled are protected, insertion of criticalparts finely controlled
• Better workstation ergonomics• Reduced repetitive-strain injuries• Increased productivity

CONNECTIVITY AND INTEROPERABILITYOF PRODUCTIONAND INFORMATIONSYSTEMS
9
• Connecting equipment of differentgenerations made by different manufacturers
• Managing equipment obsolescence• Reducing complexity by focusing onconnected equipment features and services
• Increasing modularity for easier equipmentconfiguration and reconfiguration
• Giving operators more freedom with anopen-source software suite to shareinformation, sequence tasks, supervise, connect, and log
• Enabling interoperability with other software(OPC-UA, Labview, etc.)

Connected equipment
300 connection points (1 GB Ethernet) can beconnected.
An industrial information system with a securepartners-only area is available for connectionto third-party tools (MES, ERP, simulators,OPC-UA framework, etc.).
Robots, conveyor belts,peripherals, sensors
PILOT MANUFACTURING LINE
10
In 2018 FFLOR will have its own pilot manufacturingline representative of an actual industrialmanufacturing line. The goal is to replicate an entireproduction chain so that the agile, flexiblemanufacturing solutions developed can beconfigured and tested.
