GETTING TO SUCCESS: EMBRACING CHANGE, ENCOURAGING DISRUPTION, AND INCENTIVIZING INNOVATION

LIVIN’ LIFE LARGE - THE COFFEE TALK EXPERIENCE

SET YOUR GPS FOR SUCCESSTHE IMPORTANCE OF TEAMWORK

In this insightful and useful talk, Michele recounts her journey from a Queen’s University undergrad to becoming ranked in WXN’s “100 Most Powerful in Canada” and listed as a Forbes’ “Millennial on a Mission”, sharing along the way the lessons she’s learned as one of Canada’s most successful entrepreneurs, including the necessity of embracing change, encouraging disruption, and incentivizing innovation at every stage of the game.

Get ready to get outa-the-box and try something a bit different. Coffee Talk is not your typical “stand and deliver” Keynote session. It is fun, interactive and requires everyone in the audience to connect with one another in an active and fun way. Coffee Talk integrates Tyler’s over two decades as a master experiential team designer and facilitator into a super engaging event that will not soon be forgotten. For example, you will learn together how to connect and cultivate your online project team, explore the depth of the PM and BA network in the room, learn new tools for building your team with intelligence, and practice getting to know someone a bit better. Plus, PMs and BAs will receive a host of road ready and tested team tools that they can use immediately with their teams. This session comes complete with engaging activities, academic content, hilarious stories, and one-of-a-kind experiences for all in attendance. Join the new revolution of meetings and nix the stand and deliver as we inject gamification and team tools to orient Project Managers and Business Analysts towards building better project teams.

These days, if you want to get someplace fast, with no wrong turns, you just program your car’s GPS and follow the commands. You choose a destination, then your GPS calculates the route from where you are to where you want to go and then it guides you to get there. Your brain works the exact same way: Choose where you want to go, and your subconscious takes over from there. Trouble is, your subconscious is also a storage area for habits and beliefs that either keep you on track or throw you off course. If you don’t program it for success, you’ll never reach your destination. Wayne Lee helps you access and harness the power of your GPS for optimal performance at work and at home. This presentation opens your mind to melt away stress and negative interference. This presentation helps reveal what’s possible when you program your GPS for success.

Toronto Argonauts former coach and player Michael “Pinball” Clemons is a man of unquestionable character and spirit. His football career was characterized by incredible perseverence and great skill. At only 5’6” and 170 pounds, he won against all odds. He succeeded while others predicted failure, gave more when less would have been satisfactory. He exemplifies the capabilities of teamwork and leadership while demonstrating what it means to beat the odds. “Pinball” will share his past experiences to illustrate how people can overcome obstacles and achieve success. In his deeply moving and inspirational talk, he will speak about personal perseverance and the importance of teamwork, which is relevant to any industry.

Learning Objectives• Expand your toolbox to deliver new value to

your teams• Model desired behaviours and techniques in

your target position• Build your professional brand through social

platforms and proactive networking

Going digital does not mean that sound analysis and design of the end to end experience has passed. Connecting all the actions required, means more dots to connect between customers and ourselves. This relies upon professional practices of integrated design. Business Architects and Business A nalysts must follow sound yet modern professional practices of process analysis and design tuned for a digital world.

This seminar will help you optimize the customer’s process journey in a digital world.

Learning Objectives• Learn how process design is different for

digitalization• Learn how to connect all the dots: Process

and data• Practice using a case study throughout

the class

Badass Business Analysis techniques? You might be thinking “Cool! What are those?” or “I know lots of techniques already so this ses-sion probably is not going to be of any help”. Before you make any decisions, let me ask you the following question: Do any of the state-ments below ring true regarding a meeting you either recently attended or facilitated?• The attendees during the brainstorming

session were all zombified by the approach and the results.

• The icebreaker was frozen solid and “Let It Go” was all anyone could say.

• The decision model failed to make a decision and everyone muttered “thanks for wasting my time” as they left the room.

• The process modeling session took so long someone literally fell asleep at the table.

If you have seen or experienced any of those scenarios, you might want to rethink the techniques you are using. Businesses today are changing rapidly. The same old techniques that you have been using may not be living up to the agility and speed required to succeed in this new dynamic marketplace of change. Are

you ready to learn and practice some new and very helpful techniques you have never heard of before? Are you ready to expand your frame of reference and re-look at how you facilitate? It does not take a Badass Business Analyst to learn these new techniques, but if you are willing, you are well on your way to becoming a Badass Business Analyst! Gone are the days when negotiations involved plaid suits, cigars, flashy ties and the manipulative “negotiation” tactics used in that era. In a global market-place where clients have unlimited access to information and choices, professionals focus on building partnerships and long-term relationships with their clients, suppliers, business partners and colleagues.

Learning Objectives• New techniques that most Business Analysts

have not heard of• Why some tried and true techniques still fail• An in-depth look at a few techniques that are

tried out in the session

Success in life and in business all starts with a plan. Innovation is no different. Yet too many businesses don’t properly plan for innovation, instead viewing it as a serendipitous act delivered straight from the business gods into the unexpecting laps of Corporate Executives. This presentation will talk through the major muscle movements involved in successful innovation planning, while identifying the necessary tools, tips, tricks, and techniques to implement it. We will walk through how

an organization can identify areas ripe for innovation.Learning Objectives• How to make innovation perpetual by baking

it into your corporate culture• The major focuses for any innovation frame-

work and the value the organization receives from them

• How to identify ideas that are worthy to invest in, and how to know when to stop investing in them

This workshop helps Business Analysts to understand how their world changes when their project is a cloud-hosted application or a hybrid model between on-premises systems with a cloud-architecture. FROM A GOOD PROJECT MANAGER TO A GREAT LEADER

IMPROVING YOUR CREATIVE AND CRITICAL THINKING

David BarrettSolutions Network

Vincent Mirabelli Global Project Synergy Group

You are a good, even great, Project Manager that can deliver results on time, on budget and within the scope of the Project Manager repeatedly. Your organization loves you and relies on you. Did you know that when we look for tomorrow’s leaders, one of the key elements that organizations find so difficult to find is what you have in spades: the ability to execute, to get the work done and to deliver on a plan. This workshop will put aside the skills and knowledge you need to have to be

a good Project Manager and focus on what you need to be a great leader.

Learning Objectives• Develop a personal strategic plan to move

from a manager to a leader• Understand where your gaps are and what

you need to do to fill them• Recognize your strengths and learn how to

leverage them

“If nothing changes, then nothing changes” The world of business, and by extension Project Management and Business Analysis, has changed dramatically in recent years, with new tools, techniques and technologies replacing old, obsolete ones. So why do we cling then to outdated ideas and approaches to problem solving? In “Improving Your Creative and Critical Thinking”, participants will learn how to define a problem, along with several new techniques for lateral thinking and complex problem solving (and a quick revisit to some traditional ones), which allow them to improve on their decision-making capabilities, through critical thinking, structured reasoning and creative problem analysis. Learn how to balance logic with invention, by understanding

the principles behind critical thinking and the tools used to arrive at the best solution, achieving maximum value for you, your projects and your organization.

Learning Objectives• Understand the stages of thought and

thinking, and the difference between creative and critical thinking

• Apply the decision-making process in both individual circumstances, and within a team

• Determine which decision solution is best, and how to determine what “best” means for your problem, and apply innovation and creativity to the development of your decisions
