The District paid tribute to its dedicated volunteers at a function on 14 May on the balcony of the UDRH. The function was attended by many of our volunteers and staff who were there to thank our volunteers for all their hard work. There was so much to celebrate on the day. The BH Hospital Kiosk Auxiliary handed over a cheque for $160,000 to the Hospital’s General Manager Jane Corcoran. The Kiosk Auxiliary this year is concentrating its fundraising into a major project, the replacement of the Hospital patient monitoring system. Jane Corcoran said it was a huge contribution from the Kiosk. She thanked all the volunteers on behalf of Stuart Riley, Chief Executive and the Board; adding that it was very humbling to accept such a donation and it is very much appreciated. We also celebrated and acknowledged the volunteers who won Council Awards at the 2014 Volunteer Week Awards Night, held at the Broken Hill Civic Centre on the 13 May. Of the three nominations made on behalf of FWLHD volunteers, we were extremely excited and pleased to see our nominated volunteers win in their respective categories. Congratulations to the winners: Broken Hill Kiosk Auxiliary – Community Award Winner; Raelene Kennewell – Individual Community Award Winner; and Mrs Pamela Lord – Nydia Edes Hall of Fame Award Winner. Our celebration ended all too quickly, and our volunteers enjoyed the culinary skills of our resident barbecue experts Peter McDonald and Branko Licul. Many of our volunteers commented on the presentation of photos and articles, which played in the background, recognising our volunteers over the past years. My thanks to all the volunteers who attended. It was such a pleasure seeing you all together relaxing and enjoying yourselves. Thank you to our staff volunteers namely, Peter and Branko for another excellent barbecue; the Maintenance and Kitchen teams in coordinating the equipment and food supplies; to Graeme Hurley for putting together the photo presentation and to our lovely Lola Erinle (Social Work Masters Student) and Karen Chrisakis for helping to set up and greet our volunteers and Lola’s photographic skills. Everyone’s hard work and the collaboration of the various departments made the function a great success. Last but not least thanks to Karen Hooper and Brett McInnes from the UDRH for their assistance. Balranald HS thanks its volunteers with an afternoon tea

On Wednesday 14 May Balranald Health Service held an afternoon tea in recognition of our wonderful volunteers. Our volunteers are greatly appreciated by all and are a valued asset to our organisation. Over 20 volunteers attended the gathering and were each presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Health Service Manager,

Pat Croft. A special guest to the afternoon tea was our General Manager of Lower Western Sector, Greg Mullen. It was a wonderful

afternoon and well deserved recognition for our volunteers.

General Manager of Lower Western Sector Greg Mullen and Balranald HSM Pat Croft presented Certificates of Appreciation to Dawn Conway (pictured right) and volunteers including Heather Mitchell, Ary Vanzanten and Bert Lansdown.

volunteers recognised Volunteers do so much in the community and their value is immeasurable to any

organisation for who they work. They willingly give of themselves and their time to assist those less mobile or fortunate than them.

To celebrate National Volunteers week Wentworth District Hospital and Wentworth District HACC Services held a morning tea to show their appreciation to their volunteers.

The volunteers were treated to tasty home-made morning tea treats and afterwards were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and the 2014 Volunteering Badge.

Unfortunately, the Hospital’s Auxiliary ladies were unable to attend the morning tea, but Mrs Karen Behsmann, Health Service Manager, said that she will present their certificate and badges at their next meeting.

Mrs Jenny Gledhill, HACC Services Co-ordinator said that some of her volunteers participated in part-time work and were also unable to attend.
