School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering 13 April 2015 To: Students taking FYP in AY2015/16, Semester 1 (August 2015) AY2015/2016 FINAL YEAR PROJECT SELECTION Final year projects to be offered starting in the 1 st semester of AY 2015/2016 will be grouped under the following categories: Category A : Design and Development Category B : Investigation and Analysis Category C : Software Development and Applications Eligible students (refer to page 2) may log into the on-line system to view the description of the projects from 13 April 2015: NTU homepage Studentlink Survey/Subject Option MAE Final Year Project Selection select the desired option and click on the <continue> button. In case of any difficulty in using the system, you may contact Ms Agatha at 6790-5492 (email: [email protected]). Design Stream Students and Mechatronics Stream Students can select their projects only from those exclusively designated Design Specialisation and Mechatronics Specialisation respectively. AERO students will select their projects meant for AERO only. The system is designed to handle this for you automatically. Project Selection and Allocation There will be two main phase of project selection and allocation. The first phase is from 13 April to 10 June 2015 when projects are allocated by the main supervisors. Within this period, students to discuss the projects with the relevant supervisors before making your selection. If you have decided to select a particular project and if the main supervisor of that project has agreed to take you, the supervisor will then allocate the project to you and no other students can select the project. Please note that the allocation is based solely on the discretion of the supervisor and is not on a first-come-first-serviced basis. The second phase is from 12 June to 24 June 2015 and is for students who have not been allocated any project in the first phase. Students will put in their five (5) preferred choices from the remaining list of projects through the Studentlink by 24 June 2015 (midnight). The computer will randomly allocate them projects based on their choices. You are recommended to discuss your interested projects with the relevant supervisors before making your selection. However, please note that you will not be promised any particular project. The project allocation results could be viewed on the Studentlink after 26 June 2015. Eligible students who are not allocated with projects after the second phase are required to select from the remaining list of projects from 26 June 2015 to 06 July 2015. Project allocation results will be announced after the 8 July 2015. All projects are single student projects.     MP4079/AE4079 (10AUs) is performed over 2 semesters. 2. Students who are promoted to Year 4 and have accumulated enough AUs (as shown in the
