RIVERVIEW TERRACE SING-ALONG
Next visit:
MONDAY, JULY 16 AT 2 PM
One night, after a long day of interaction with a large group of people, I found myself sitting in my living
room silently staring at my lava lamp. As an introvert, this is one of the best ways that I recharge and,
most days, reflect on conversations or unresolved thought processes that I may have throughout my
day.
That night, my mind went somewhere else. As I saw the wax moving, fusing, melding and dispersing
based on its response to the temperature, I wondered, what if this is how the Holy Spirit works?! What if
this is how ministry works?
Think of the wax as our congregation and each molecule that forms that wax is one of us. We come
together to do a specific ministry: quilting, Bible study, blood drive, choir, cleaning, etc. When a specific
task is done, we may stay or we may disperse to “fuse” somewhere else, and sometimes spreading out
over a pretty wide area, to continue doing the work of Christ.
Now think of the wax as the universal Church in the world! Each of us is part of that Body of Christ. The
ministry that we do, no matter how small it is in our own eyes, makes a difference in the world. The Holy
Spirit that stirs us up to do God’s work in the world is just like that heat that stirs up those lumps of wax.
No ministry is unimportant. In fact, every ministry is a crucial part of our daily worship!

SINGING CLASSES FOR MATURE SINGERS—calling for interested participants
Over the past 5 years, I have been doing plenty of research on how we, choir directors, can ensure healthy singing for
those of us whose voices are aging. No, this doesn’t mean that this is exclusively designed for “older” folks. Our bodies
and voices constantly change and age as we enter adulthood. Mine, too, is aging.
For this reason, choir leaders have been working together in developing physical exercises and choral warm-ups that
helps use our body differently, therefore singing healthily. If we have enough interested people, I would like to facilitate
three two-hour classes/rehearsals in August. Email [email protected] or call the church office by July 15 if you
would be interested in participating!

Church Family Camping
We have another weekend of fun camping planned at North Wood County Park, south of Marshfield, the weekend of July 13-15. Please make your reservation soon to secure sites near the group. You can see details of the park and make your reservation at: www.co.wood.wi.us/departments/parks/northpark.aspx (or just Google North Wood County Park).
The tent sites to choose from are 53, 54, 55. Electric sites (tent or camper) are 52, 50, 47, 45, 43. We will plan some meals together and have devotional time and a simple worship on Sunday morning.
Young couples, experienced couples, families, singles are all welcome to join in the fun! Call Tim Holcomb (715-212-3633) with any questions and to let me know what site you have booked. If you want to go but need some camping gear, please let me know; we can probably help you out. You are also welcome to visit during the day if you’d rather not stay overnight. Again, talk to Tim about that.
Our apologies for accidently omitting Jacob Schneider from the list of
