SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER, MAY 17, 2020 3

FROM THE DESK OF FR. DAVE

Feast of the Ascension - Draws near

Next Sunday we are able to gather together in praise and worship of God, as we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus our Savior to Heaven. This event reminds us that God's plan for our Eternal Salvation continues to unfold. The Holy Spirit is soon to come!

Keep in prayer - Ben Landrigan

Although the pandemic has caused a bit of a scheduling problem, we are looking forward to the Ordination as Deacon to a son of our Parish, Ben Landrigan. Ordination date is set for June 6, 2020. Let's keep Ben in prayer. Public Masses Soon to Begin Sundays

and Weekdays Beginning NEXT Saturday evening, we will be able to "open the Church" for praise and worship in the celebration of Holy Mass, Confessions, Baptisms, Weddings, etc. while ALWAYS using social distancing.

Mass Dispensation Still in Effect - Until August 15

Due to the pandemic, Bishop Rhoades has continued the dispensation from our obligation to attend Sunday Mass until August 15, 2020.

Use Common Sense!

As tough as it may be, I encourage those 65 and older and those with serious ailments, NOT to attend public Mass, but take part in the daily live stream Mass at 9:30 am on Sunday and 9:00 am weekday.

Due to the Pandemic - Some restrictions apply

Masks MUST be worn when on the Parish campus. No one allowed without a mask. (If you need a mask, please call the Parish office and leave your name and phone number (432-0268) . - Enter ONLY through the main front doors of Church. Hand sanitizer will be available. - Due to the COVID-19 Mass schedule, do NOT come 30 minutes early! 10 minutes before Mass is better!! Social Distancing: Our Church which normally fits 1,000 people, is now set up to fit a bit a bit over 300. Pews have been taped off to keep all at a 6 ft. distance. Due to Social Distancing we have added additional Masses. These times are set up so that if the Church is full, overflow will head to gym, which has been set up for Holy Mass (with social distancing). The gym has just a few chairs, so if you wish, bring a folding chair with you.

All Masses (during pandemic) will be roughly 35 minutes (so this Mass schedule can work), We will sanitize the Church pew at the end of each Mass. Due to pandemic, we ask "no social gatherings" while on the Parish campus.

Mass Times-Temporary Changes Saturday Evening 4:00 pm (Church) 4:30 pm (gym) Sunday Morning 8:30 am (Church 9:00 am (gym) 9:30 am (Church) 10:00 am (gym) Sunday Evening 4:00 pm (Church) Temporary Weekday Mass Times

- Begins May 25 Monday through Friday 9:00 am 5:30 pm No Saturday morning Mass or early morning Mass at this time.

Sacrament of Confession (Reconciliation)

- Begins May 25 AFTER each Mass during the week. Saturday: 9:30 - 10:30 am Note: These Mass times may change in the coming weeks, as we see how all works. We will notify through our Parish website, Facebook, and next week's bulletin.

May the Lord pour His Grace upon us. Remember to pray for an

outpouring of the Holy Spirit as Pentecost draws near!

EXCITING NEWS FOR OUR SCHOOL KIDS

Each year our 4th-8th graders participate in their Design an Ad competition. This is a great opportunity for students to see how art can integrate into our community and see how it can be translated into a career. Because of COVID everything with this deadline had been pushed back. The students have been anxiously awaiting the results. On May 6 we found out that we had 26 students place either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for their advertiser! This is so exciting! Their artwork will be featured in The Journal Gazette on Sunday, May 17th. In this publishing they will find out their exact place and if they have won the Overall award as well! We can't be more excited! All of our students at Saint Elizabeth are just so gifted! Every year we do great at this competition! We are always proud of every piece that they have turned in to the paper. To have these 26 finalist listed below is just awesome! Keep a look out for that May 17 paper. Congratulations to all of you!

6 SEEK TO GROW IN CHRIST

SHARING THE EASTER JOY

St. Elizabeth is trying to connect with our parishioners by calling as many households as possible. Help us achieve this goal by volunteering to make some of these calls. To learn more, Contact Carole Yaney at [email protected] or call the parish office at 260-432-0268 and leave a message. Thank you.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

As we have been making calls to our parishioners during this Easter Season, we are noticing some of the information in our database is incorrect including disconnected numbers and/or outdated information. You can help us by updating your contact information. Directions on how to update your contact information is located on our website www.seasfw.org under the "Resources" tab. Thank you so much for helping us better serve you!

ADOPT-A-FLOWER BED 2020

Emails were sent out to all the wonderful volunteers from last year to see if you would like to continue to take care of the same plot. If you didn’t receive an email, please contact the parish by emailing [email protected] and let us know if you wish to continue this year. For those who didn’t participate last year but would like to this year, we will be putting out a list of the flower beds available in a few weeks. When you adopt a flower bed, you can plant some small flowers or planters of flowers and keep them watered and the area weeded. If you have any questions, please contact Rob Slocum or Jennifer Engquist by emailing [email protected].
