    1 Introduction

    About This GuideThis guide describes how to use the commonly used functions,operations and settings.

    All the images in this guide are provided only for your reference. Theactual appearance and display depends on the phone that has beendelivered.

    SIM Card and microSD CardInsert your SIM card before using your phone. Remove the SIM card,microSD card and the battery only after powering off your phone.

    Your phone supports a microSD card with a capacity of up to 16GB.To load or remove the microSD card, remove the battery cover first.

    The following figures show the installation of the SIM card andmicroSD card.

    1. Remove the battery cover. 2. Insert the SIM card.

    3 (Optional). Insert the microSD card 4. Insert the battery.

    No microSD card is provided in the product package. If amicroSD card is required, you can buy one yourself.

    Charging the Battery1. Connect the charger to an AC power socket.2. Connect the charger to the charger jack on the phone.

    3. Wait until the battery is completely charged.During the charging, the charging icon is displayed in animation.When the charging icon becomes static, the battery is fullycharged.

    4. Disconnect the charger from the AC power socket.5. Disconnect the charger from the phone.Your PhoneThe following figure shows the appearance of your phone and it isfor your reference only.

    Keys and Functions In this document, the following icons indicate the

    To customize the four navigation keys as the shortcuts to

    different functions, press in standby mode, and thenselect Phone settings> Shortcut.

    Press To

    Make a call. Answer an incoming call. View call logs in standby mode. End a call. Reject an incoming call. Return to the standby mode. Lock the keypad and the screen. Power on or power off the phone (by pressing and

    holding it for about 3s).

    Scroll up and down a menu.

    pause or continue. Confirm a selection.

    Displaying Function Menus

    In standby mode, press or tap to display functionmenus.

    Accessing the Widget Bar

    1. Tap the widget bar tab to display the widget bar.2. Scroll through the widget bar and tap the icon that you want to

    use.You can also tap and hold a widget, and then drag it from thewidget bar to the desktop to create a shortcut.

    3. Tap the widget bar tab again to hide the widget bar.

    On-screen Numeric Keypad

    In standby mode, tap to access the on-screen numerickeypad.

    1 Number keys.

    To enter phone numbers. To call the voicemail by taping and holding the 1key for

    about 3s. To speed-dial phone numbers by taping and holding the 29

    keys for about 3s.

    2 *key. To enter *by tapping it once, + by tapping it twice, Pby

    tapping it three times, or W by tapping it four times. To enable or disable the meeting mode by tapping and

    holding it for about 3s.

    3 To display the Messagesscreen.4 To call the phone number.

    5 To display the contact list.

    Touch ScreenYou can tap the touch screen to select an item or enter text.

    Tap the icon accurately to select an item.

    Tap gently to protect your touch screen. Tap

    Touch the screen once to select an item or access a menu. Slide

    Tap the screen, and then move the finger or stylus to scroll menusor pages.

    DragTap and hold a widget on the widget bar, and then move itbetween the widget bar and the home screen.

    Calibrating the ScreenThe phone can respond to the touch on the screen accurately afterscreen calibration.

    1. Press in standby mode.2. Select Other settings> Pen Calibration.3. Tap the cross marks that appear on the screen in sequence as

    prompted to finish adjusting the phone display.

    When calibrating the screen, use the stylus to tap the cross

    marks exactly. It will decide the precision of responses totaps and handwriting input.

    USBWhen connected to the PC with the USB data cable, your phone canbe used as a USB flash drive. In this case, you can read and manage

    the files stored in the phone memory or on the microSD card on thecomputer.

    2 Getting Started

    Phone LockThe phone lock protects your phone from unauthorized use. Bydefault, the phone lock function is disabled. You can change thedefault phone lock code (1234) into any four-digit numeric string.Do remember your phone lock code. If you forget it, contact theservice center.

    PIN and PUKThe personal identification number (PIN) protects your SIM card fromunauthorized use. The PIN unblocking key (PUK) can unlock theblocked PIN. Both the PIN and the PUK are provided with the SIMcard. For details, contact your service provider.

    If you enter wrong PINs for a specified number of times consecutively,the phone asks you to enter the PUK.

    If you enter wrong PUKs for a specified number of timesconsecutively, the SIM card becomes invalid permanently. In this case,contact your service provider for a new SIM card.

    Locking the Screen and the KeypadIn standby mode, press to lock the keypad and screen. Toactivate the screen and unlock the keypad, press any key to light the

    screen, and then drag a bubble to the as prompted.

    If the Autokeypad lockfunction is enabled and if the phone is instandby mode for a preset period, the keypad is lockedautomatically.

    If the Screen saverfunction is enabled and if the phone is in standbymode for a preset period, the screen saver runs automatically.

    Entertainment Camera: to take photos or recording video clips. Music player: to play audio files. Video player: to play video files. FM radio: to receive and play radio programs. E-book reader: to read e-books. Calendar: to manage the calendar. Calculator: to perform simple calculation. World clock: to set the time zone. Java: to download and install java applications and games.

    3 Voice Services

    Making a Call

    1. Tap to access the on-screen numeric keypad in standbymode.

    2. Enter the phone number. To make an international call, tap twice consecutively to

    enter the international call prefix. Then enter the country orregion code, area code, and phone number in sequence.

    To call an extension, enter the phone number, tap threetimes consecutively to enter P, and then enter the extensionnumber.

    3. Press or tap to dial the number.4. Press to end the call.

    You can also make a call through call logs, contacts, andmessages.

    During a call, you can press and to adjust the volume.

    Answering a CallWhen there is an incoming call, you can do as follows:

    Press or tap Answerto answer the call.

    Tap Muteto mute the ring, and then tap Rejectto reject the call. Press to reject the call.

    8 To clear the character on the left of the cursor.

    Tap and hold Clearfor about 3s to clear all the characters.9 To switch to the simplified mode in which only commonly

    used symbols are displayed.

    10 To enter a period (.).

    On-screen Keypad InputIn "ABC" or "abc" mode, tap each key once according to the spellingsequence of desired words.

    In "123" mode, tap number keys to enter desired numbers. Ascommonly used punctuations are also displayed, you can tappunctuation keys to enter desired punctuations.

    Tap to display the symbol panel, and then tap symbol keys toenter desired symbols.

    Handwriting InputYou can enter English letters and numbers through handwritinginput.

    To set handwriting input, do as follows:

    1. Press in standby mode.2. Select from the following options: Input language: to set the input language. Handwriting: to set the pen speed and the pen color.

    5 Messaging

    Creating and Sending a Text Message

    1.

    Press in standby mode, and then select Messages> SMS>Createmessage.2. Write the message.3. Tap Options, and then select Done.4. Select from the following options: Send only: to enter a phone number or select a recipient from the

    contact list, and then send the message. Send and save: to add a recipient, and then send and save the

    message. Send to many: to add several recipients at a time, and then send

    the message. Send by group: to add all members of a group as recipients, and

    then send the message.

    Creating and Sending a Multimedia Message

    Contact your service provider for the availability of theMultimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and and the methodof subscribing to the services.

    Open multimedia messages with caution. Objects inmultimedia messages may contain hazards that candamage your phone, such as malicious software.

    1. Press in standby mode, and then select Messages> MMS> CreateMMS.

    2. Select To, CC, or BCC, and then tap it to add the recipient(s).You can add the phone number(s) or the email address(es).

    3. Select Subject, and then tap it to edit the subject.4. Select Edit Content, and then tap Editto edit the content.

    You can tapOptionsto add pictures, video clips, audio clips,attachments, or bookmark text.

    5. After editing the multimedia message, tap Optionsand thenselect Done.

    6. Tap Options, and then select from the following options: Send & save:to send and save the multimedia message. Send only: to send the multimedia message.

    6 Email Contact your service provider for the availability of the

    emails, and the method of subscribing to the services.

    Open emails with caution. Objects in emails may containhazards that can damage your phone, such as malicioussoftware.

    Setting the Email Accounts

    1. Press in standby mode, and then select Email> Emailaccounts.2. Tap Options, and then New account.3. Set the corresponding parameters.

    When you finish setting a parameter, tap Options, and then selectNextto set the other parameters.Creating and Sending an EmailBefore sending or receiving emails, you need to select and activatean email account. If there is no email account, you need to set one.

    1. Press in standby mode, and then select Email> Writeemail.2. Select To, CC, or BCC, and then tap it to add the recipient(s).3. Select Subject, and then tap it to edit the subject.4.

    Select Attachmentsto add up to three attachments to the email.

    5. Select Priorityto set the priority of the email.

    6. Scroll to the textbox to edit the text.7. After writing the email, tap Done.8. Select from the following options: Send: to send the email. Send and save: to send and save the email.

    7 Contacts

    Creating a Contact1. Tap in standby mode, and then tap Add new contact.2. Tap To SIMor To phoneto save the contact.3. Edit the contact.4. After editing the contact, tap OKto save the contact.Searching for a Contact1. Tap in standby mode, and then tap Search contact.2. Enter the contact name or the first consecutive letters of the

    name.

    3. Select Options> Searchto search for the contact.

    Taking a Picture

    In standby mode, press to access the Camerascreen. Tap thescreen to display the icons for camera settings or photo settings.

    Press in standby mode, and then tap Video recorder.

    5 To start recording the video clip.

    During the recording, you can tap it to pause or continue.

    9 Video Player

    Adding a New Playlist

    1. Press in standby mode, and then select Video player > Myplaylists.

    2. Tap Options, and then select New.3. Edit the playlist name.4. Tap Options, and then select Done.5. Tap Options, and then select Loadto display the playlist.6. Tap Options, and then select Addto add video files to the playlist.Playing a Video FileIf there is no playlist, you need to add a new playlist first.

    1. Press in standby mode, and then select Video player > Myplaylists.2. Select a playlist, and then press .

    Press to stop playing the video file.

    10 Music PlayerStore up to 250 audio files in the Musicsfolder of the phone or ofthe microSD card.

    Music Player

    Press in standby mode, and then tap Music. You can selectAll tracks, Albumsor Playliststo play audio files in different modes.

    1 To play the music in the background, and display Musicscreen.

    2 : To play an audio file repeatedly. : To play audio files in the current playlist circularly.

    3 Played duration of the current audio file.

    4 To pause or continue.

    5 To switch to the previous audio file.

    AlbumYour phone supports albums. You can create up to 50 albums, andadd up to 100 audio files to an album.

    To access albums, select Music> Albums.Creating an Album

    To create an album, do as follows:

    1. Create a new folder in the Musicfolder of of the phone or of themicroSD card.The folder can be identified as an album. The name of the folderis set as the album name.

    2. Store some audio files in the folder.You can also save a picture in .jpg format in the folder, and name itas "Music.jpg". The picture is set as the album cover.

    Horizontal Screen Mode

    When you playing audio files in album mode, press to activatethe horizontal screen mode.

    1 To pause or continue.

    2 Name of the current album.

    3 To display the audio files list of the current album.

    Tap an audio file in the list to change the album, and play the

    file.

    4 To deactivate the horizontal screen mode.

    In horizontal screen mode, you can do as follows:

    Press to deactivate the horizontal screen mode. Tap the screen, and then move the finger or stylus to scroll

    albums.

    PlaylistYou phone supports playlists. You can create up to 50 playlists, andadd up to 100 audio files to a playlist.

    To access playlists, select Music> My playlists.To create a playlist, do as follows:

    1. Select Music> My playlists.2. Tap Options, and then select New.3. Edit the name of the playlist, and then press .4. Tap the playlist to display it.5.

    Tap Options, and then select Edit.

    6. Mark audio files you want to add into the playlist, and then tapBack.

    11 Ebook

    Press in standby mode, and then tap Ebook reader.Your phone supports ebooks in .txt and .pdb formats.

    Store ebooks in the Ebookfolder of the phone or of the microSDcard. If you open an ebook in another folder, the phoneautomatically moves the ebook to the Ebookfolder so that you canfind the ebook easily when reading next time.

    1. Press in standby mode, and then tap Ebook readertodisplay the bookshelf.The phone automatically adds the ebooks stored on the phone or

    on the microSD card to the bookshelf.2. Select an ebook.3. Tap Optionsfor following options: Global settings: to set the font, scrolling type, encoding, and

    alignment, or to activate or deactivate the full screen mode. Open ebook: to open the ebook.

    When reading an ebook, you can press to turn pages.4. Tap Backto close the ebook.

    16 Warnings and PrecautionsThis section contains important information pertaining to theoperating instructions of your device. It also contains informationabout how to use the device safely. Read this information carefullybefore using your device.

    Electronic Device

    Power off your device if using the device is prohibited. Do not use

    the device when using the device causes danger or interference withelectronic devices.

    Medical Device Follow rules and regulations set forth by hospitals and health care

    facilities. Do not use your device when using the device isprohibited.

    Pacemaker manufacturers recommend that a minimum distanceof 15 cm be maintained between a device and a pacemaker toprevent potential interference with the pacemaker. If you areusing a pacemaker, use the device on the opposite side of thepacemaker and do not carry the device in your front pocket.

    Some wireless devices may affect the performance of hearingaids. For any such problems, consult your service provider.

    Potentially Explosive Atmosphere

    Power off your device in any area with a potentially explosiveatmosphere, and comply with all signs and instructions. Areas thatmay have potentially explosive atmospheres include the areas whereyou would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine.Triggering of sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or a fire,

    On a stormy day with thunder, do not use your device when it isbeing charged, to prevent any danger caused by lightning.

    When you are on a call, do not touch the antenna. Touching theantenna affects the call quality and results in increase in powerconsumption. As a result, the talk time and the standby time are

    Battery and Charger Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the device when

    not in use. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times

    before it eventually wears out. When the standby time and thetalk time are shorter than the normal time, replace the battery.

    Use the AC power supply defined in the specifications of thecharger. An improper power voltage may cause a fire or amalfunction of the charger.

    Do not connect two poles of the battery with conductors, such asmetal materials, keys, or jewelries. Otherwise, the battery may be

    short-circuited and may cause injuries and burns on your body. Do not disassemble the battery or solder the battery poles.

    Otherwise, it may lead to electrolyte leakage, overheating, fire, orexplosion.

    If battery electrolyte leaks out, ensure that the electrolyte doesnot touch your skin and eyes. When the electrolyte touches yourskin or splashes into your eyes, wash your eyes with clean waterimmediately and consult a doctor.
