Roxbiuy Weather Recorder Says January Was Ck>ldest

Roxbury, Jan. 3:̂ .—Mrs. Robert H. MacLaury, Roxbury weather record keeper, says she believes this has been the coldest January she can remember, though she has not figur§d the average tetopera- tu re yet. The therm om eter has not (Upped as low as it has in some years, but there has been a steady cold thtx>ughout the month. She says th a t the coldest night in January was Sunday, Jaii. 30, when it was 12 below zero. Saturday i t was minus three and F riday 11. below zero. Monday it was zero.

People in the area have had trouble with frozen w ater mains. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Stahl below Roxbury hftve had their w ater frozen for the first time, also Mr. and Mrs. Barent Rossman of Vega had their w ater frozen for the first time. That the snow has not been of sufficient depth to protect the w ater seems to be" one reason for the trouble this year.
