Gamle Fredrikstad GolfklubbGamle Fredrikstad Golfklubb became a member of the Norwegian Golf Association in 2000. The facilities include a driving range, a training area for short play, a high standard 9-hole pay-and-play course and an 18-hole championship course. There is also a pay-and-play course for football golf. The course is a park course with links characteristics, fine greens and water hazards. Gamle Fredrikstad Golf Club shares a reception with Fredrikstad Motel and Camping. The motel has 18 camping cabins, 26 motel rooms and a campsite. There is a family restaurant with seating for 40, plus a meeting room. The golf course is adjacent to Kongsten Hall, a centre for sports and trade fairs with popular outdoor and indoor swimming pools. There is also a studio gym and a bowling alley. In the nearby woods there are bridleways, a skiing trail, hiking paths and picnic spots. The golf club has a fantastic location just outside Gamlebyen (Fredrikstad Old Town), the best-preserved fortress town in Scandinavia, founded in 1567. Here there are relaxing cafés and restaurants in walking distance. There is a ferry from Gamlebyen to the town centre.
