Garden Route Game Lodge was established in 1999 as the first Private Game Reserve in the Western Cape. Privately owned

and operated by the Doherty and Apteker families since 2002, this malaria free, family friendly game reserve is home to a

variety of animal and birdlife including the BIG 5. African game lodge architecture combined with safari style interiors in a

Our 18 superbly appointed luxury thatched chalets offer exclusivity, comfort and spectacular views of the waterhole or valley

below. The chalets offer intimate contact with nature and complete privacy, ideal for honeymoon couples.

This luxuriously appointed and perfectly positioned free standing suite is our newest addition and offers a spacious room with

private deck overlooking the game reserve. Decor is elegant, fresh and contemporary while maintaining earthy elements. The

en suite bathroom boasts a free standing bath, double vanity and separate shower. For the adventurous, the outside bath

and shower set in the African bush will take your breath away. Access to the 8 new units is exclusively via private golf cart

transfer from reception by your game ranger.

Our 16 spacious Main Lodge rooms combine luxury and comfort with an Out of Africa theme. Complete with en suite

bathrooms, the Lodge rooms lead onto a West facing balcony which offers breathtaking African sunsets all within steps of the

sparkling pool.

Dining in our Serengeti’s Restaurant offers guests an interactive dining experience where safari cuisine is prepared by our chef to your liking. Our friendly and attentive waiters are on hand to explain the menu or advise you on our selection of fine

South African wines. Relax and enjoy a refreshment at the Serengeti Bar or at the Bush Bar . The expansive wooden decks

overlooking the valleys below allow guests to relax and unwind to the sounds of the African night.

Food and beverage

Enjoy sunset and sunrise game drives in an open Landrover with your experienced game ranger who will bring you sightings of lion,

elephant, hippo, white rhino, buffalo and cheetah. Garden Route Game Lodge is also home to giraffe, zebra and numerous antelope

species such as bontebok, red hartebeest, kudu, eland, impala, springbuck and many more. Game drives will take between 2 and 3 hours

depending on how much time is spent at each sighting. There will be a sundowner stop on the evening drive.

End your day’s game viewing with a soothing full body massage or pamper yourself with one of our indulgent treatments. Built from locally sourced stone and thatch our treatment room overlooks the game reserve and features its own private plunge pool for your

Directions from GeorgeTake the N2 highway and head west for 85km. Once you cross over the Gouritz River Bridge, the entrance to the lodge will be

12km after the bridge.

Directions from Cape Town

Route 1

Take the N2 highway out of Cape Town and drive east for 348km. Once you get to a small town called Albertinia the entrance

to the Garden Route Game Lodge will be 7km after this town.

Route 2

Take the N1 out of Cape Town and exit onto Route 60 at Worcester, drive through the winemaking regions of Ashton and

Robertson and join the N2 at Swellendam. Drive east on the N2 for 120km. Once you get to a small town called Albertinia the

entrance to the Garden Route Game Lodge will be 7km after this town.
