Preparing The Soil

In the garden is important that students prepare the soil before planting seeds, we can use different tools, soil, fertilizer of soil and water. In the picture we can observe the soil is prepared, ready to plant.

Planting SeedsTo plant seeds we need be sure about how to do it, things that we need(soil, seeds, tools, water) choose the best weather to plant and best place to plant.

Students can plant in different ways. For example, we can plant directly on the land, in flower pots, or build garden beds.

Building Garden BedsDesign Constructing

Design consist in create some ideas in class before work in the garden to prevent complications and obtain the final that we hope. Using papers, students have to create different design of garden beds with measures of each one side. After students have to choose the best design.

To build garden beds students need the paper design, wood, nails, drill, measuring tape.Students have to work together, share ideas, and cooperate with other.

VegetablesIn the garden, there are avariety of vegetables such as: • Egg plant• Lettuce • Beets • Potatoes• Swiss chard• Tomatoes• Onions• Chile peppersStudents has to plant the seeds but before we have to divide the seeds for each student, read the directions in the bag, and be responsible and take care to do a good work.

Moving The SoilStudents need to move the soil to add the fertilizer to prepare before planting. The students also have to put cardboard under the prepared soil. This is important and necessary to avoid pest insects and prevent the grass grow up.

Eating in the

gardenThis is a great moment because we can share time with other students eating products from the garden.In this picture we can observe students enjoying a watermelon.

BenefitsStudents can obtain healthy products from the garden such as lettuce to do a salad.Ms. Mabe give us the opportunity to prepare it. She also help us with her instruction and explains to us benefits of proteins and vitamins in all the vegetables and fruits that we eat in the garden.

Cooking In The GardenThe garden give us the opportunity to cook. Students can take vegetables and some fruits directly from the garden .Ms Mabe brings condiments to add to the vegetables. Each student have to help following the instructions step by step. Finally when the food is ready we can eat.

AdvantagesGaringer garden provides benefits to the students. We are allowed to get produce from the garden to home. Students can use it as ingredients in food, and it can help us reducing the bill at the store.Students can do their own election about their favorites vegetables or fruits.

PaintingIn the garden students also have time to paint. The garden provides us the materials to do it. We have the option to use our imagination, creativity, and demonstrate a variety of designs. We can use different colors to do to make it interesting and the garden can be more attractive.

Future goals

My priority now is finish high school. After I want to go to college to study a career. I’m interested in be a computer programmer. My plan is to start in CPPC and get a degree after transferring to an university. I like UNC or Greensboro college. Another of my future goals is come back to my country, Honduras.
