A database inormation packetis included in your 500W-series package. Pilots usingan out-o-date database do so entirely at their own

WARNING:VNAV is to be used or advisory purposesonly. VNAV messages or vertical speed required shouldnot be used to maintain terrain or ATC clearances. Ter-rain and ATC clearances are the sole responsibility othe pilot.
WARNING:Do not use GPS to navigate to any activewaypoint identied as a NON WGS84 WPT by a
system message. NON WGS84 WPT waypoints arederived rom an unknown map reerence datum thatmay be incompatible with the map reerence datumused by GPS (known as WGS84) and may be positionedin error as displayed.
CAUTION:The Global Positioning System is operatedby the United States government, which is solely re-sponsible or its accuracy and maintenance. The systemis subject to changes which could aect the accuracy
and perormance o all GPS equipment. Although theGarmin 500W-series are precision electronic NAViga-tion AIDs (NAVAID), any NAVAID can be misused ormisinterpreted and thereore become unsae.

satellites. It is possible that in some situations otherradio equipment or electronic equipment used in closeproximity to a GPS receiver may create electromagneticintererence (EMI) which may aect the ability o theGPS receiver to receive and decode the satellite signals.In such event, the intererence may be reduced oreliminated by switching o the source o intererenceor moving the GPS receiver away rom it.

This guide covers the operation o the GNS 530W,GNS 530AW, and the GPS 500W. In general, all
models will be reerred to as the 500W-series, exceptwhere there are physical or operational dierences.The 500W-seriesunits are 6.25 wide and 4.60 high.Thedisplayisa320by234pixelcolorLCD.Theunitsinclude two removable data cards, one with a Jeppesendatabase (inserted in the let-most card slot) and thesecond being a Terrain database (inserted in the right-
most card slot).GPS 500W
The GPS 500W has a WAAS GPS engine and isTSO C146a certifed or primary domestic, oceanic,and remote navigation including en route, terminal,and non-precision approaches, and approaches withverticalguidance,suchasLPVandLNAV/VNAV.The
GPS 500W can simultaneously give aviators vitalapproach inormation and weather and trafc datain relation to their position on a large, color movingmap display. Thanks to a high-contrast color display,the inormation can be easily read rom wide view-ing angles even in direct sunlight. Its color movingmap eatures a built-in database that shows cities,
highways, railroads, rivers, lakes, coastlines, and acomplete Jeppesen database. The Jeppesen database(that can be updated with a ront-loading data card)containsallairports,VORs,NDBs,Intersections,FSSs,Approaches,DPs/STARs,andSUAinformation.
PilotswillenjoytheGPS500WasanMFD,espe-cially when it is coupled with trafc, lightning detec-
tion,andweatherinterfaces.WiththePC-basedFDEprediction program, the GPS 500W may be used oroceanic or remote operations. For the latest in graphi-cal and textual weather inormation, the GPS 500WcanconnecttoXMSatelliteRadiosXMWXWeather

GNS 530W and GNS 530AW
The GNS 530W and GNS 530AW include all o the
eatures o the GPS 500W, and also includes a TSOdairborneVHFcommunicationstransceiverandaTSOdairborneVOR/LocalizerandGlideslopereceiv-ers. This multipurpose unit is available with either a10-watt (GNS 530W) or 16-watt (GNS 530AW) Comtransceiver. Reerences to the GNS 530W also includethe GNS 530AW.

Key and Knob Functions
The 500W-series navigators are designed to makeoperation as simple as possible. The descriptions on
the next three pages provide a general overview o theprimary unction(s) or each key and knob. This Take-o Tour section is intended to provide a brie overviewo the primary unctions o your 500W-series unit.Experiment with the unit and reer to the reerencesections or more inormation.
Let-hand Keys and Knobs
k The COM power/volume knobcontrols unit power and communica-tions radio volume. Press momentarilyto disable automatic squelch control.In the GPS 500W, this control is usedonly or power.

WThe COM ip-op key (GNS530W) is used to swap the active andstandby COM requencies. Press andhold to select emergency channel(121.500 MHz).
VTheVLOC ip-op key (GNS530W) is used to swap the activeandstandbyVLOCfrequencies(i.e.,make the selected standby requencyactive).
On the GNS 530W, thelargeandsmall letknobs allow you to
tune the desired COMor VLOC requency.

The range key (RNG) allows you toselect the desired map scale. Use the
up arrow side o the key to zoom outto a larger area, or the down arrowside to zoom into a smaller area.
DThe direct-to key (direct-to) pro-vides access to the direct-to unction,which allows you to enter a destina-
tion waypoint and establishes a directcourse to the selected destination.See Section 3.
MENUThe menu key (MENU) displaysa context-sensitive list o options.This options list allows you to access
additional eatures or make settingschanges which relate to the currentlydisplayed page.
CLRThe clear key (CLR) is used to eraseinormation or cancel an entry. Pressand hold this key to immediatelydisplaytheDefaultNavigationPage,regardless o the page that is cur-rently displayed.
ENTThe enter key (ENT) is used toapprove an operation or completedata entry. It is also used to confrminformation,suchastheDatabase
Page during power on.
tThe large right knob(GPS) is usedto select between the various pagegroups:NAV,WPT,AUXorNRST.
With the on-screen cursor enabled,the large right knob allows you tomove the cursor about the page.
rThe small right knob (PUSH CRSR)is used to select between the variouspages within one o the groups listedabove. Press this knob momentarilyto display the on-screen cursor.The cursor allows you to enter data
and/or make a selection rom a list ooptions.
Data is entered using the largeand smallright knobs. Experiment with them to be-
come ecient at entering data. This greatlyreduces the amount o time spent operating
the 500W-series unit in fight.

Bottom Row Keys
NRST
The nearest key (NRST) (GPS500W) displays the Nearest Airportspage. Then, turning the small rightknob steps through the NRST pages.
CDIThe CDI key (GNS 530W) is used totoggle the navigation source (GPS orVLOC)whichprovidesoutputtoanexternalHSIorCDI.
OBSThe OBS key is used to selectmanual or automatic sequencing owaypoints. Pressing this key selectsOBS mode, which retains the currentactive to waypoint as your naviga-tion reerence even ater passing the
waypoint (i.e., prevents sequencingto the next waypoint). Pressing theOBS key again returns to normaloperation, with automatic sequenc-ing o waypoints. Whenever OBSmode is selected, you may set thedesired course to/rom a waypoint
using the OBS Page, or an externalOBSselectoronyourHSIorCDI.
MSGThe message key (MSG) is used toview system messages and to alert youto important warnings and require-
ments when the MSG annunciator isdisplayed. See Sections 12 and 9 or
more inormation on messages andunit settings.
FPLThe ight plan key (FPL) allowsyou to create, edit, activate andinvert ight plans, as well as accessapproaches, departures and arrivals.
A closest point to ight plan eatureis also available rom the ight plankey. See Section 4 or more inorma-tion on ight plans.
VNAVThevertical navigation key(VNAV) allows you to create a three-dimensional profle which guides
you to a fnal (target) altitude at aspecifed location. See Section 10.
PROCThe procedures key (PROC) allowsyou to select approaches, departuresand arrivals rom your ight plan.
When using a ight plan, availableprocedures or your departure and/orarrival airport are oered automati-cally. Otherwise, you may select thedesired airport, then the desiredprocedure.

Power On
The Garmin 500W-series oers you accuratenavigational data and communication capability, along
with non-precision and precision approach certifca-tion in the IFR environment. The Takeo Tour isdesigned to amiliarize you with the basic operationo the 500W-series including powering up theunit, changing requencies, entering data, perorm-ing a simple direct-to, selecting IFR procedures andprovides a limited introduction to using ight plans.
In addition, this section briey covers the deaultnavigation, map and requency pages available as partoftheNAVpagegroup.Thesepagesareusedformosto your in-ight navigation.
The Takeo Tour assumes that the unit and anten-nas have been properly installed and you have notchanged any o the 500W-series deault settings. Iyou have changed any o the actory deault settings(position ormat, units o measure, selectable felds,etc.), the pictures shown here may not exactly matchwhat you see on your 500W-series unit. Prior to usingyour 500W-series unit or the frst time, we recom-mend that you taxi to a location that is well away rom
buildings and other aircrat so the unit can collectsatellite data without interruption.
Powering up the 500W-series units
The GNS 530Ws power and COM volume arecontrolled using the COM power/volume knob at thetop let corner o the unit. In the GPS 500W, the knobcontrols only power. Turning it clockwise turns unitpower on and increases the COM radio volume. Aterturning the unit on, a Welcome Page is displayed whilethe unit perorms a sel test, ollowed by copyright andsotware version inormation.
TheDatabase Confrmation Page appears nextand shows the current database inormation on theNavDatacard(withthevalidoperatingdates,cyclenumber and database type indicated). The databaseis updated every 28 days and must be current or
approved instrument approach operations. Inorma-tion on database subscriptions is available inside your500W-series package.
To acknowledge the database inormation, press
the ENT key .

Fuel on board and uelow may be manually entered i your installation doesnot include connection to sensors which automaticallyprovide these fgures.
To enter uel capacity, uel on board or uel fow
gures (i not provided by sensors):1. Turn the large right knob to select the CAP,
FOB or FF eld.2. Turn the small and large right knobs to enter
the desired gure, then press ENT.
Enter the uel capacity, uel on board or uel fow guresdirectly onto the appropriate eld o the Instrument Panel
Sel-Test Page. Fuel on board and uel fow are automaticallyprovided i your installation includes connection to external
sensors.

Fuel On Board and Checklists
The Instrument Panel Sel-Test Page includes selec-tions to set uel on board (FOB) to ull capacity and
access the Checklists Page. This allows you to quicklyset uel to ull limits and display any checklists youveentered, such as start up or takeo checklists.
To set uel on board to ull (i not provided bysensor):
1. Turn the large right knob to highlight SetFull Fuel?.
Select Set Full Fuel? to set uel on board(FOB) to ull capacity.
2. Press ENT and veriy that uel on board (FOB)now matches the uel capacity (CAP) gure.Fuel on board is now reduced, over time, based
on the uel fow (FF) gure.To view the checklists page:
1. Turn the large right knob to highlight Go ToChecklists? and press ENT.
2. Turn the large right knob to select the desiredchecklist, then ollow the steps in Section 9 AuxPages - Utility Page (Checklists) to execute eachstep in the selected checklist.
Select Go To Checklists? to display theChecklist Page and any available checklists. A
500W-series unit can hold up to nine check-lists with up to 30 entries in each checklist.
3. Once you complete the desired checklist(s),press the small right knobto return to theChecklists Page. Press the small right knobagain to return to normal operation on theSatellite Status or Map pages.
Once youve veried instrument operation withthe Instrument Panel Sel-Test Page displayed, turnthe large right knob to highlight OK? and pressthe ENT key.
The Satellite Status Page appears as the 500W-series unit begins to collect satellite inormation. AnAcquiring status is displayed on the Satellite Status
Page and the signal strength o any satellites receivedappears as bar graph readings. This is a good indica-tion that you are receiving signals and that a positionfx is determined. Following the frst-time use o your500W-series unit, the time required or a position fxvaries usually within two minutes.

Acquiring Satellites / Messages
I the 500W-series unit has not been operated or aperiod o six months or more, it may have to Search
the Sky to collect new data. This means the unit isacquiring satellite data to establish almanac and satel-lite orbit inormation, which can take 5 to 10 minutes.The Satellite Status Page displays a Searching Skystatus, and the message annunciator (MSG) above theMSG key also ashes to alert you o a system message,Searching the Sky.
The Time and other data may not be displayeduntil the unit has acquired enough satellites or a fx.
To view a system message, press MSG.
MESSAGE PAGE
The Message Page appears and displays the statusor warning inormation applicable to the receivers cur-rent operating condition.
To return to the previous page ater viewing amessage, press MSG again.
The Satellite Status Page shows the ID num-bers or the satellites and the relative signal
strength o each satellite received (as a bargraph reading).
Searching Sky indicates that satellite almanacdata is not available. The data is recollected rom thefrst available satellite.
Acquiring indicates that satellites have been
located and inormation is being acquired, but thereceiver does not have enough satellites or a 3-dimen-sional position.
3DNAVindicatesthata3-dimensionalpositionis available.
3DDIFFNAV indicates when a 3-dimensional
position is available and dierential corrections arebeing used.
The INTEG annunciator (bottom let corner othe screen) indicates that satellite coverage is insuf-cient to pass built-in integrity monitoring tests.

Selecting Com/Nav Frequencies
While the GNS 530W is acquiring a position,lets take a minute to dial in the active and standby
requencies youll be using or the frst phase o youright. The GNS 530W display is divided into separatewindows (or screen areas), including a COM window,VLOCwindow(bydefaultwithVORident/radial,butselectable or other data including a trafc display)and a GPS window which occupies the right 3/4 o thedisplay.

Pushing the small let knob moves the tuningcursorback-and-forthbetweentheCOMandVLOCrequency windows. To select the active requency, youmust frst enter the requency in the standby feld, anduse the COM (orVLOC) ip-op key to move it to
the active feld.To change the standby communication (COM) orVLOC requency:
1. I the tuning cursor is not currently in thedesired window (COM or VLOC), press thesmall let knob momentarily to switch thehighlight between the COM and VLOC win-dows. Adjusting the requencies with the largeand small let knobs will aect the standbyrequency.
2. Turn the large let knob to select the desiredmegahertz (MHz) value. For example, the117 portion o the requency 117.70.
3. Turn the small let knob to select the desiredkilohertz (kHz) value. For example, the .70portion o the requency 117.70.
4. To activate the selected requency, press theappropriate fip-fop keyCOM or commu-nication requencies or VLOC or VOR/Localizerrequencies.
Once youve entered the active requency, simplyrepeat steps 1 through 3, above, to enter the standbyrequency. Ater both communication requencies have
been entered, you may elect to keep the COM windowhot by leaving the cursor on the standby requency, ormovethecursortotheVLOCwindowbypressingthesmall let knob.
NOTE: When selecting VLOC requencies, thetuning cursor automatically returns to the COMwindow ater 30 seconds o inactivity.
NOTE: GPS level o service annunciations (LPV, ENR,etc.) are not applicable to the external CDI (or HSI)when VLOC is active.
Cursor highlights COM window.
To switch the active and standby requen-cies, press the COM fip-fop key. Switching
the active and standby requencies does notremove the cursor rom the COM window.

The map page is one o fve or more pages avail-ableundertheNAVgroup.The previous page shows
the organization o the main page groups. Addition-ally, page groups or ight plans, procedures andvertical navigation are available by pressing the keycorresponding to the desired unction (FPL, PROCorVNAV). Selecting one o these stand-alone pagegroups, in eect, exits the main page groups anddisplays a page or the desired unction. When pressing
the same unction key a second time, the 500W-seriesunit returns to the main page group and the previouslydisplayed page.
To select the desired NAV page, turn the small rightknob until the desired page is displayed.
I you are currently viewing a page that is not partoftheNAVgroup,youcanquicklyreturntotheNAV
group using the CLRkey. The number o Nav grouppages available varies with installed equipment.
To select the NAV group and display the DeaultNAV Page, press and hold CLR.
InadditiontothegroupofNAVpages,additionalgroups o pages are available or waypoint inormation
(WPT),auxiliary(AUX)functionssuchasightplan-ning or unit settings, and listings or nearest (NRST)airports or other acilities.

Map Page
The Map Page displays your present position(using an airplane symbol) relative to nearby airports,
VORs,NDBs,intersections,userwaypointsandairspace boundaries and your route displayed as asolid line. The current Map Scale is indicated in thelower let corner and adjustable using the RNG key.
The Map Scale reers to the distance rom thebottom to the top o the viewable display.
Ater the GNS 530W acquires satellites and com-putes a position, the Map Page appears automatically.

To adjust the map scale:
1. Press the up arrow on the RNG key to zoomout to a larger area.
OR,
2. Press the down arrow on the RNG key to zoomin to a smaller area.
By adding data elds along theright-hand side, the Map Page can
combine a moving map display
and navigation data or completesituational awareness. Map setuppages are provided to add thesedata elds and to designate the
maximum scale at which each mapeature appears. These settings
provide an automatic declutteringo the map (based upon your preer-
ences) as you adjust the scale.
While viewing the map page, youcan quickly declutter and remove
many o the background map detailsby pressing the CLR key (repeatedly)until the desired detail is depicted.
To change the map scale, use theRNG key.

TheNavigation/Communications(NAVCOM)Pageprovides a complete list o airport requencies at your
departure, en route and arrival airports.
AfrequencylistedontheNAVCOMPagecanbequickly transerred to the standby feld o the COMorVLOCwindows.Thistimesavingprocesspreventshaving to re-key a requency already displayed else-where on the screen.
To display the requency list or the desired fightplan or direct-to airport:
1. Push the small right knob to activate thecursor on the airport identier eld (in the GPSwindow).
2. Turn the small right knob to display the listo airports (departure, arrival and en route) or
your fight plan or direct-to. Continue to turnthe small right knob until the desired airportis selected.
3. Press ENT to display the requency list or theselected airport.

The 500W-series unit can use direct point-to-pointnavigation to guide you rom takeo to touchdown,
even in the IFR environment. Once a destination isselected, the unit provides course and distance databased upon a direct course rom your present positionto your destination. A destination can be selected romany page with the direct-to key.

To select a direct-to destination:
1. Press the direct-to key. The Select Direct-toWaypoint Page appears with the destinationeld highlighted. The direct-to waypoint may
also be selected by acility or city name. SeeSection 3 or more inormation.
2. Turn the small right knob to enter the rstletter o the destination waypoint identier. Thedestination waypoint may be an airport, VOR,NDB, intersection or user waypoint, as long asit is in the database or stored in memory as a
user waypoint.3. Turn the large right knob to the right to move
the cursor to the next character position.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to spell out the rest othe waypoint identier.
5. Press ENT to conrm the identier. The Acti-vate? unction eld is highlighted.
Conrm the selected direct-to destination byhighlighting Activate? and pressing ENT.
6. Press ENT to activate a direct-to course to theselected destination. Press and hold CLR toreturn to the deault NAV page.

IFR Procedures
Once the direct-to or ight plan is confrmed, thewhole range o instrument procedures is available to
you.Departures(SIDs), arrivals (STARs), non-preci-sion and precision approaches are stored within theNavDatacardandavailableusingthePROC key.
Press the PROC key to display the procedurespage. Turn the large right knob to select the
desired option.
To display the Procedures Page, press PROC.
The steps required to select and activate anapproach, departure or arrival are very similar. In thisintroductory section, well show examples o the stepsrequired to select an approach, but keep in mind thesame process also applies to departures and arrivals.
To select an approach, departure, or arrival:
1. Turn the large right knob to highlightthe Select Approach? option (or SelectArrival?/Select Departure?) rom the Pro-cedures Page.
2. Press ENT to display a list o available proce-dures or the arrival (when using approaches
or STARs) or departure (when using SIDs)airport.
3. Turn the small right knob to select the desiredprocedure and press ENT.
A window appears to select the desiredprocedure. Use the small right knob to make
your selection.
4. For approaches, a window appears to selectthe desired initial approach ix (IAF) or avectors option to select just the nal coursesegment o the approach. Turn the small rightknob to select the desired option and pressENT. (Vectors guidance is relative to the nalinbound course. A line is drawn beyond thenal approach x, allowing you to interceptthe nal course segment beyond its normallimits.)

The last page in the NRST group, the NearestAirspace Page, provides inormation or up to nine
controlled or special-use airspaces near or in youright path. Airspace inormation appears on this pagebased upon the same criteria used or airspace alertmessages. Nearby airspace inormation and airspacealert messages are provided according to the ollowingconditions:

Flight Plans
The 500W-series unit lets you create up to 20 ightplans, with up to 31 waypoints in each ight plan.Flight plans are created, edited and activated using theFPL key. The FPL page group includes two pages: the
Active Flight Plan Page and the Flight Plan Catalog.The Active Flight Plan Page provides inormationand editing eatures or the ight plan currently inuse (reerred to as ight plan 00). The Flight PlanCatalog serves as the main page or creating new ightplans, as well as editing or activating previously cre-
ated ight plans.

Since using ight plans is arguably one o the more
complex eatures o the 500W-series unit, well only dis-
cuss it briey here ocusing on creating a new ightplan and activating it to use or navigation. Additional

To create a new fight plan:
1. Press the FPL key and turn the small rightknob to select the Flight Plan Catalog.
2. Press the MENU key to display the Flight PlanCatalog Options.
3. Turn the large right knob to select CreateNew Flight Plan? and press ENT.
To create a new fight plan, select Cre-ate New Flight Plan? rom the Flight Plan
Catalog Options.
4. The cursor appears on the rst waypoint identi-er eld (located directly below WAYPOINT).Use the large and small right knobs to enterthe identier o the rst waypoint in the fightplan (the small knob is used to select thedesired letter or number and the large knob is
used to move to the next character space.).
Enter the identier or each airport and/ornavaid into the fight plan in the same
sequence you wish to fy.
5. Press ENTonce the identier has been selected.The cursor moves to the next blank waypointidentier eld.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5, above, until all waypointsor the fight plan have been entered.

Once the fight plan is created,it may be activated rom an options window.Activating the fight plan copies it into fightplan 00 (the original fight plan still resides inthe Flight Catalog) and replaces any fight planwhich currently exists in fight plan 00.

GNS 530W
TheGNS530Wfeaturesadigitally-tunedVHFCOM radio that provides a seamless transition romcommunication to navigation. The GNS 530WsCOM radio operates in the aviation voice band, rom118.000 to 136.975 MHz, in 25 kHz steps (deault).For European operations, a COM radio confguration
o 8.33 kHz steps is also provided.
TX appears at the upper right corner o theCOM window while transmitting.
Volume
COM radio volume is adjusted using the COMpower/volume knob. Turn the COM power/volumeknob clockwise to increase volume, or counterclock-wise to decrease volume.
Squelch
The COM radio eatures an automatic squelch toreject many localized noise sources. You may override
the squelch unction by pressing the COM power/volume knob. This acilitates listening to a distant sta-tion or setting the desired volume level.
Whilereceivingastation,anRXindicationappears in the upper right corner o the COMwindowtotheimmediaterightofCOM.ATXindication appears at this location while you are trans-
mitting.
Press the COM power/volume knob momen-tarily to override the automatic squelch.Note the RX receive indication when
receiving a station.
To override the automatic squelch, press theCOM power/volume knob momentarily. Press COMpower/volume knob again to return to automaticsquelch operation.

COM Window and Tuning
Communication requencies are selected with thetuning cursor in the standby COM requency feld,
and using the large and small let knobs to dial inthe desired requency. The standby requency alwaysappears below the active requency. The active re-quency is the requency currently in use or transmitand receive operations.

A requency may also be quickly selected rom thedatabase by simply highlighting the desired requencyon any o the main pages and pressing ENT. This pro-cess is reerred to as auto-tuning. Once a requency
is selected in the standby feld, it may be transerredto the active requency by pressing the COM ip-opkey.
Once the standby requency is selected, usethe COM fip-fop key to make the requency
active or transmit and receive operations.
NOTE:The tuning cursor normally appears in theCOM window, unless placed in the VLOC windowby pressing thesmall letknob. When the tuningcursor is in the VLOC window, it automaticallyreturns to the COM window ater 30 seconds o
inactivity. The active requency in either windowcannot be accessed directly only the standbyrequency is highlighted by the tuning cursor.

Auto-Tuning
The GNS 530Ws auto-tune eature allowsyou to quickly select any database requency in
the GPS window as your standby requency. AnyCOM requency displayed in the GPS windowcan be transerred to the standby COM requencyfeld, with a minimum o keystrokes required. Theollowing are some examples o selecting COM
requencies rom some o the main GPS pages.
To select a COM requency or a nearby airport:
1. Select the Nearest Airport Page rom the NRST
page group. (See Section 7, or press and holdCLR, then turn the large right knob until thenearest pages appear. Finally, i necessary, turnthe small right knob to display the NearestAirport Page.)

Emergency Channel
The GNS 530Ws emergency channel select pro-vides a quick method o selecting 121.500 MHz as theactive requency in the event o an in-ight emergency.The emergency channel select is available wheneverthe unit is on, regardless o GPS or cursor status, orloss o the display.
Press and hold the COM fip-fop key ortwo seconds to activate the 121.500 MHz
emergency requency.To quickly tune and activate 121.500, pressand hold the COM (or remote) fip-fop key orapproximately two seconds. I the remote key isused, urther changes in COM requency will notbe possible without recycling power.
NOTE: Under some circumstances i the com systemloses communication with the main system, the radio
will automatically tune to 121.500 MHz or transmitand receive regardless o the displayed requency.
Stuck Microphone
Whenever the GNS 530W is transmitting, aTXindicationappearsintheCOMwindow.Ifthemicrophone is stuck or accidentally let in the keyedposition, or continues to transmit ater the key is
released, the COM transmitter automatically times out(or ceases to transmit) ater 35 seconds o continuousbroadcasting. You will also receive a COM push-to-talk key stuck message as long as the stuck conditionexists.
A COM push-to-talk key stuck message appears to warnyou o a stuck microphone. Transmitting is disabled ater 35
seconds o continuous broadcasting.Remote Frequency Selection Control
On units confgured or remote Com requencyrecall*, pressing the remote recall switch will load thenext preset Com requency into the units Standby re-quency box and display a temporary pop-up windowwiththecurrentPresetIDnumbere.g.,Preset1or
Preset 12. The remote recall switch can be pressedmultiple times to scroll the entire preset requencylist through the Standby requency box (the list willwrap rom the bottom o the list back up to the top,skipping any empty preset positions).
The standby requency isnt activated until a Comip op switch (either remote- or bezel-mounted) is
