Gateway InterBus-S
For communication on the PROFIBUS-DP,there is a choice between PPO Types 1(Process data and parameter interface) orPPO Types 3 (process data only). Processdata is handled as I/Os, i.e. it is availablefor the user in the I/O-area of the PLC andis transmitted with
every InterBus-S-cycle.Parameterization of the VLT® via the para-meter interface is effected via PCP Com-munication.

w OverviewThe purpose of the InterBus-S /PROFIBUS-DP-Gateway is to enable theDanfoss VLT® 5000 Frequency Converterto be operated with the Field Bus systemInterBus-S. For this purpose, theGateway converts the InterBus-STelegrams to PROFIBUS-DP-Telegrams,which are then transmitted to the VLT®.
Reporting back occurs in the same way.The Gateway converts the PROFIBUS-DP-Telegrams from the VLT®, which arethen tranmitted to the master via theInterBus-S.
■ The Gateway enables connection of up to14 VLT® 5000 with a PROFIBUS OptionCard. The Gateway sends continuous in-formation of the selected PPO Type withthe actual process data block and theactual parameter block to the VLTs.
As is usual with InterBus-S, connection ofthe Gateway occurs in the form of aremote bus participant. However, thisdoes not convert to the InterBus-S LocalBus, but to PROFIBUS-DP. This alsomeans that the well-known limitations ofthe local buses, such as max. 8 nodes,ready-made bus wire, maximum extension8 metres, etc., no longer apply.

Properties of the PROFIBUS-DPA maximum of 14 VLTs can be linked up -using the PPO Type1 (12Byte) or the PPOType3 (4Byte). The selection of PPO Typegoes for all VLTs; mixed operation is notpermissible and will lead to an errorreport. The InterBus-S in-/output data isprojected on the PROFIBUS-DP withoutany interpretation being offered. With oneexception, bit 10 of the control word(CW), is inverted. This ensures that whenthe PLC moves to Stop and resets alloutputs, the connected VLTs will stop, too; also, when the InterBus-Scommunication starts, it is ensured thatthe VLT® 5000 remain stopped.

■ The PPO Type1 allows parameterization ofthe VLTs, retrieval of all values and para-meters - including fault and diagnosticdata, as well as control of the VLT® withreporting back on its actual state. The PPO Type3, on the other hand, allowsonly control and reporting back on thestate of the VLT®.With respect to the functioning and hand-ling of the parameter interface in PPOType1, please refer to the manual onPROFIBUS Option Cards for VLT® 5000.The baudrate on the PROFIBUS-DP is1.5Mbaud, which means that themaximum bus cable length is 100 m.Further information is available from thePROFIBUS manual for VLT® 5000.
!!! IMPORTANT !!!Before inserting the PROFIBUS Option Card, the VLT® should be turned on andparameter 620 should be set to "Initialize". Subsequently, remove the power andinsert the PROFIBUS Option Card. When the unit is turned back on, newinitialization is effected automatically. Be aware that all parameters will be set toFactory setting! If this sequence is not possible, or if the PROFIBUS Option Card has alreadybeen inserted, the keys DISPLAY/STATUS + MENU + OK must be pressedsimultaneously before turning on the VLT®; subsequently, turn on the power andkeep the three keys pressed until the message "Manual Initialize" appears in thebottom line of the display window (see page 136 in MG.50.AX.02).

Configuration of the frequencyconverter
The following parameters are to be setor checked, respectively:
Parameter 502-508Motor coasting, quick-stop, DC-braking, start, reversing, reset, setupselection, selection of digital refe-rence,this is where to decide if control is goingto be via "BUS""BUS""BUS""BUS""BUS" only or via "Digital In-"Digital In-"Digital In-"Digital In-"Digital In-put"put"put"put"put" only, or via a combination of thetwo. In the case of BUS-selection only, all parameters should be set to "BUS""BUS""BUS""BUS""BUS" atthis point.
Parameter 512Telegram profilethis is where to select the telegram Prof-ile, the profiles are descriped in thePROFIBUS manual for VLT® 5000.Danfoss recommend to use Danfossprofile.
Parameter 801Baudrateenter the Bus-Baudrate selected for yourGateway, or leave the rate at "1.5"1.5"1.5"1.5"1.5MBAUD". MBAUD". MBAUD". MBAUD". MBAUD". At present, the Gatewaybaudrate has been set at a fixed rate of1.5Mbaud.
Parameter 800FMS/DP-selection,this is where to set "DP""DP""DP""DP""DP"; This is thefactory setting.
Parameter 803Bus time out, this time selection determines the delay
after a BUS drop-out before a reactionfrom the frequency converter is to ensue.
Parameter 804Bus time out function, select the reaction after a BUS drop-out.
Parameter 904PPO select, enter the telegram desired, e.g. for PPOType1 enter "PPO type1", for PPO Type3enter "PPO Type3". The PPO types aredescriped in the PROFIBUS manual forVLT® 5000.
Parameter 918Station address, this is where the station address isselected. The range of operation of theGateway is from 1-14, with attentionhaving to be given to throughgoingaddressing. The address range basicallybegins at "1" and ends at the address ofthe maximum number of units available. This physical position at the BUS has noinfluence on addressing.
Parameter 927Access to parameter change, this is where to select whether the para-meter can be altered via the BUS,("Enable"("Enable"("Enable"("Enable"("Enable"), or whether this possibility is tobe disabled ("Disable")("Disable")("Disable")("Disable")("Disable").
Parameter 928to process control, like 927, although this is where it is to bedecided whether control is going to be ef-fected via the PROFIBUS ("Enable")("Enable")("Enable")("Enable")("Enable") ornot ("Disable"("Disable"("Disable"("Disable"("Disable").
The parameters set on the VLT®
are not activated until thepower supply has been cut offand re-cycled.
All other parameters are to be set inaccordance with the intended application,as described in the product manual.

ParameterizationParameterization via the Bus is onlypossible if using PPO Type1.Parameterization is effected via PCPCommunication. The procedure is asfollows:
Order to Report fromIBS-master: VLT® to master:
Write.Request ConfirmationpositiveConfirmationnegative, reportingof error code
Read.Request Confirmationpositive includesthe data of therequested parame-ter of the VLT®
Confirmationnegative, reportingof error code
Notes concerning programming:The frequency converter can now be con-trolled via the BUS; this is effected simplythrough setting or reading of I/O-Bits.
Control wordAs opposed to what is said in the productmanual about the PROFIBUS OptionCard, bit number 10 has to be set at "0"to enable control. This will ensure that theVLT® accepts the control word. TheGateway automatically converts this bit toa "1".
The control word for:starting forward is047F047F047F047F047F Hex or 0000 0010 0111 1111.0000 0010 0111 1111.0000 0010 0111 1111.0000 0010 0111 1111.0000 0010 0111 1111.starting reverse is847F847F847F847F847F Hex or 0100 0100 0111 1111.0100 0100 0111 1111.0100 0100 0111 1111.0100 0100 0111 1111.0100 0100 0111 1111.stopping with normal ramp (Param. 208) is044F044F044F044F044F Hex or 0000 0100 0100 1111,0000 0100 0100 1111,0000 0100 0100 1111,0000 0100 0100 1111,0000 0100 0100 1111,stopping with alternative ramp (Param.210) is 064F064F064F064F064F Hex or 0000 0110 01000000 0110 01000000 0110 01000000 0110 01000000 0110 01001111.1111.1111.1111.1111.
Reference/Actual valuesThe reference and the actual value of theVLT® returned are handled in a norm-setformat. The setting range goes from-10000 for -100.00% up to +10000 for+100.00%. The 100.00% corresponds to4000 hex. Negative reference aregenerated through the two's complement.
Example:Min.frequency = 0Hz;Max.frequency = 50HzDesired is 25Hz corresponding to 50% ofthe max. rpm:50.00% = 2000 hex =0010 0000 0000 0000Binary
For 25Hz with reversing = -50% of themax. rpm:50.00% = 2000 hex =0010 0000 0000 0000Binaryreversal of a positive to a negative desiredvalue:

Parameter interface inWrite.RequestThe parameter interface (PCV) of the VLT®
5000 contains a total of 4 words. Thisenables reading and writing of parame-ters, reading of arrays, writing, etc.
The parameter interface can be detailedas follows:1. Word (Parameter-Identification-Value,PCA); in the lower 11 bits (bits 0..10) enterthe parameter number, in the upper fourbits (bits 12..15) select the desired action.
2. Word (Index/Subindex, IND); the byte"Index" is only used if wanting to useelements of an array. In this case, enterthe index of the element in question. Innormal parameter actions, this byte is notused. The byte subindex is intended forsubsequent extensions and is not used atthis point.
3. + 4. Word (Parameter Value, PVA); inthe case of write action, this is where thevalue of the selected parameter is ente-red. The third word is the High-Word; thefourth word is the Low-Word. The thirdword is only used if parameter valuesabove 65535 are to be transmitted.Since values are not transmitted incomma format, each parameter valuemust be multiplied by a factor. The para-meter factor in each case can be seenfrom the manual for the PROFIBUS OptionCard.
Example:In VLT® 5000, with bus address 2, theparameter 202 maximum frequency is tobe changed to 80 Hz,
PCA: 20CA
Parameter CA hex = 202
Action 2 = Change parameter value

Now the length of the data has to beentered; since, however, this is only pre-pared for the maximum layout, a length of112 bytes has to be entered here. Nowfollows the data of the VLTs, in the se-quence of their addresses.
3. + 4. Word (Parameter value, PVA); thisis where the VLT® enters the value of theselected parameter. The third word is theHigh-Word; the fourth word is the Low-Word. The third word is only used if para-meter values above 65535 have beentransmitted.Since the values to be transmitted are nottransmitted in comma format, the indivi-dual parameter value must be divided by afactor to obtain the actual value. The indi-vidual parameter factor can be seen in themanual for the PROFIBUS Option Card.

Setting the PDU length in PCPOn the basis of the possibility of having 14VLTs connected to the gateway, there is aneed for an extended PDU length. Thefollowing example shows how in the SPSstart-up the PDU length can be changedin CRL. For further information concerningthe PCP Communication please see themanual for the InterBus-S-Master.All start-up components first branch intoFB210, which carries out the configu-ration of the InterBus-S-Master assembly.

Gateway InterBus-S

0000 01100000 01100000 01100000 01100000 01100100 11110100 11110100 11110100 11110100 1111.
0010 0000 0000 0000 Binär -> 1101 1111 1111 1111 Binär Einer-Komplement -> + 1 Binär = 1110 0000 0000 0000 Binär Zweier-Komplement-50,00% = E000 hex = 1110 0000 0000 0000Binär
