This doesn’t happen very often!
Gathering together as a congregation
becomes more of a challenge as
Broadway’s worship services and minis-
tries continue to grow. But on Sunday,
March 4, we will have one of those rare
opportunities to all be in the same place
at the same time—our annual Congrega-
tional Meeting and Spaghetti Luncheon!
The meeting and luncheon will be held
in the Christian Life Center following the
11:15 am service. Broadway’s Boy Scout
Troop 702 will provide the lunch of
homemade sauce and meatballs,
spaghetti, bread and salad. Cost for the
lunch is $5.00 per person, with a family
maximum of $20. You are asked to bring
a dessert to share.
While the food and the company will
be excellent, the meeting is one of two
annual gatherings called for in the BCC
by-laws. At the Congregational Meeting,
Broadway members will be asked to ap-
prove the slate of Board officers, Ministry
Area leaders, Worship Service representa-
tives, Elders and Deacons for the 2012-
2013 church year. The slate is prepared
by the Nominating Committee, which is
charged with recruiting leaders for Broad-
way’s future.
Plan to join us on March 4 to enjoy
great food and the Broadway Spirit of
fellowship as we prepare for another
exciting year of ministry!

Ash Wednesday Service February 22 The season of Lent will begin on Ash Wednesday, February 22, and Broadway will join with millions of Christians around the world to mark the start of the season. Our Ash Wednesday service will begin at 5:30 pm in the Sanctuary. The service will include the imposition of ashes, along with a brief meditation and music. Each Wednesday during Lent, the Sanctuary will be available for quiet reflection with communion available from 5:30-6:30 pm. Members of Broadway’s Prayer Ministry will be in
attendance each Wednesday, if you would like to share a prayer. The Prayer Ministry will also have a 2012 Lenten devotional book available on Sunday, February 19 and at the Ash Wednesday service. The “Walk with Jesus” meditations were written by many Broadway members. The booklet will be available at no charge.
Warm up a February Friday night with a lot of fun and games and a little of the Broadway Spirit! On Friday, February 24 at 6:30 pm, join us for Broadway Game Night and come ready to play board games, bunco or enjoy a little gym time. There is no charge for the event, but we do ask that you bring a snack to share with oth-ers. Tea and lemonade will be available. Game Night is a great opportunity to spend time with old Broadway friends or make new ones. If you would like more information, contact Debby in the church office at 445-5312.

Saturday, March 3 from 8:00-9:30 am in
the Fellowship Hall for breakfast, fellow-
ship and training. The program will be
presented by Mary Cunningham, who will
speak on how to respond to friends and
family members who are ill or grieving.
Mary is a Broadway Elder and Stephen
Minister, who has many years of experi-
ence as a palliative care provider and
trainer.

Breakfast Is March 3
Registrations are still being accepted to
participate in Broadway’s upcoming El
Salvador Mission trip, May 26-June 2. The
team will travel to the village of El Espino
to work in partnership with a local
congregation.
Our El Salvadoran mission work differs
from international missions that we have
participated in previously. Our work is
coordinated through Enlace, which works
with many churches in the country, but
the work is determined by the local
congregation. The mission work may
focus on infrastructure improvements
such as building a retaining wall, but it is
up to the local church to decide on priori-
ties. This approach to mission is vital to
the Enlace philosophy of partnership, and
gives local churches something that is
often as valuable as our help—ownership.
On the next two Sundays, you will hear
how our work in El Salvador is changing
lives, both there and for those who have
made the journey to El Espino. Also look
for your opportunity to help members of
the Broadway Mission Team defray
expenses by purchasing a copy of Wonder
and Wholeness, a collection of the writings
of Tim Carson.

Broadway is in the process of devel-
oping a new church web site. And what
could be more effective at showing the
Broadway Spirit than the smiles of our
members? Jan Coffman will be taking
pictures of members and church events
in the next few weeks. If you would
prefer to not have your photograph on
the web site, please contact Tammy at

The Tom Andes Trio will be our special guests at the 11:15 service on Sunday, February 19. Tom will join the Broadway Ensemble for a worship celebration on the eve of the Lenten Season enhanced by the rhythms and sounds of jazz.
Do you like to keep your hands busy?
A group at Broadway invites you to join
them for twice-monthly meetings to
gather for fellowship and time to work on
whatever project you’re currently trying
to finish!
The group meets on the first and third
Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in
the Loft and is coordinated by Marilyn
McCreary. There is no formal structure,
and no “group” craft projects—just bring
your own project and allow yourself the
time to work on it. If you have a closet
full of half-finished afghans or a drawer
full of needlepoint projects dating back
to the 1980s—dust off one of them and
join the fun!

can receive a recording of the song so that
they can practice at home. Sunday
morning practice is only 10 minutes from
11:00-11:10 am in the Cinema Room in the
CLC. If you have any questions, please
contact Ms. Marilyn at 268-4876, or
