Greetings to The Vette Set,
Already it's December 2014, and another year of The Vette Set draws to a close. I've had a great time in being your President this year 2014. Recalling the January first meeting (plenty nervous) to the final meeting of what we the club has accomplished. The traditional Sweetheart’s Rally, to the 39th Annual TVS Car Show at Ruby’s (what a variety of GM Classics) and fun runs like trips to Fillmore & Julian.
Now we are all getting ready to celebrate 50 years as a club as we enter into the New Year, 2015. We now have a one-year only 50th Year Logo to mark this great milestone. I am looking forward to supporting President-Elect Jerry Clement as he leads our club into an exciting new year.
I want to thank all the officers and committee chairpersons that served with me to make your Club the success that it was this year (their commitment is the backbone of the club). I'm looking forward to next weekend to attend the Christmas Party organized by the Weimers. We have our Awards Banquet coming up soon, Jan. 31, 2015, so get your reservations in to Linda Tully quickly.
Thank-you all again for your support and friendship this year, and let's all pitch in to help the new administration make 2015 another memorable Vette Set year!
Remember what brings us all together: our excitement, joy and the fun of owning a Corvette! We each have a special way of bonding with our Corvette. The Vette Set is a proud club whose members have fun and take care of business.
Vettes are made to be driven…drive your Vette and enjoy the ride!

RICK HENDRICK TAKES Z06 DELIVERY AT NCM NASCAR Team Owner and Chevrolet Dealer Rick Hendrick visited the Museum on Tuesday to take delivery of the very first production Corvette Z06. Plant and Museum tours were followed by a few laps at the NCM Motorsports Park.
THREE JOIN NCM BOARD This week the National Corvette Museum Board of Directors held their quarterly meeting in Bowling Green, during which three new board members were voted in.
Paul Mariano of Huntersville, NC is no stranger to most everyone in our close-knit Corvette community as he served as the 2014 National Corvette Caravan Chairman. Paul is a Lifetime Member of the Museum and serves as the Ambassador to the Museum for the Queen City Corvette Club.
Randy Flock of Greenwich, RI is also a familiar face, having served as Captain for the New England Caravan. Randy is a Lifetime Member of the Museum and serves as the Ambassador to the Museum for the Corvette Club of Rhode Island.
Dave Heinemann of Orland Park, IL is the incoming President of the National Council of Corvette Clubs and will be filling their seat on our board. He is a Lifetime Member of the Museum and took delivery of a 2014 Corvette from the Museum this year.
Welcome Paul, Randy and Dave!
SKYDOME UPDATE This week the team has been working to level out the bottom of the sinkhole in preparation for a one foot slab of concrete. "We're going to lay that concrete down so we can lay horizontal sheet piling in there to try and seal off all of the voids, and to try and seal the outside of the cave itself," explained Project Superintendent Joe Schultz of Scott, Murphy and Daniel Construction.
The crew will also be putting in a 36" manhole to provide access to one side of the cave, even after the sinkhole is filled. "We have some ideas of future exhibits where you can see into the cave via a camera with lights, and guests would be able to maneuver the camera, so we needed access to the cave to allow us to service that equipment as needed," said Katie Frassinelli, Marketing & Communications Manager.

40TH ANNUAL CAR SHOW
The planning is going very well. We have a group of 10-14 members who meet monthly to discuss and plan this show. All Vette Set members are welcome to attend. We are open to any suggestions.
The hot items currently are:
Event Tee Shirt - Jerry Clement is heading this effort. He is having the same artist who did the Ruby's Tee do ours. The final version is almost ready. Our plan is that each Pre-Registered vehicle will receive a Tee shirt as a part of the donation. And we will provide Tee shirts for all Vette Set volunteers.
Sponsor solicitations - Linda Glaza and John La Bella are heading this effort. They have a 300+ list of potential sponsors. Letters requesting support will be mail in December.
Vendors - Rob Weimer is heading this effort. He has contacted vendors from our previous shows. If anyone has a potential vendor please let Rob have the details. Spaces are only a $35 donation.
Charity - Bonniegay Bacon is our liaison to So Cal ROC our charity for 2015.
Advertisements/Promotions - Don Popovich is sending calendar and event information to many publications which reach the South Bay audience. Look for our Banner Ad in www.socalcarculture.com.
NCCC - Carl Cewsinski has secured our sanction number WC-401-R01.
Flyer - Debbie Jackley has prepared several versions of our flyer and more to come.
Trophies - Chuck Hammer is collecting Hot Wheels for use with the trophies.
Corvette Judging - John La Bella has decided to make it a lot easier on the judges. Instead of judging the entire car, one judge will cover the interior, one will cover the exterior and one the engine. The will be several teams to insure all Corvettes are judges in a timely fashion.
Other Car Show Volunteer positions will ramp up in 2015. If you would like to volunteer for any Car Show leadership position please let us know.

NAME BADGE DRAWING
50-50 DRAWING The 50/50 raffle collection for this month was $155. As I was going to the back of the meeting area to ask Kurt Swanson to pull the lucky ticket, Rob Weimer “mouthed” to Ron Knight who was sitting in the front row that he wanted to win. Well, thanks to Kurt’s magic hand, Kurt pull- ed Rob’s ticket and Rob won $77 while the Club received $78. The last time that Rob won was 5/13 and received $82; while his wife, Jeanette, won on 3/14 $75. Since Rob is our Sergeant of Arms and was sitting towards the front of the room, Jeanette wasn’t close enough to confiscate the money. Well, congratulations to Rob!!!.

The name badge drawing for this month was $60. Normally, the Gibbs usually attend the monthly meeting; however, this month they were in Wisconsin visiting their son. Unfortunately, for Bob Gibbs, he missed out winning the name badge drawing. Therefore, next month’s amount will be a BIG $70 for a lucky Corvette member.

50th VETTE SET ANNIVERSARY CAR BANNER I have had a 50th Anniversary car banner made. If you would like one for your Vette they will cost $10-$12 each depending on the quantity ordered. They should be available in many colors to compliment/contrast your Vette color. They are easily applied and removed. They should not imprint your windshield when removed unless you ex- perience a sandstorm. I am looking for interest from members. If you could e-mail me your interest, [email protected], I will collect names and probably commitments in January.

The "secret" code identifier for our NCCC sanctioned car show next April is WC-401-R01, not C7 Z06 or C6 F55 or C7 Z51 or LT-1 or any other combinations. Next month there will be more detail in the WC Region Calendar. Wow! "Next month" means that 2014 is winding down and our 50th club anniversary year of 2015 will be here soon. It will be an exciting year for Vette Setters in the way of activities and NCCC events to participate in. Here's wishing you and your families a happy and safe holiday season. Drive your Corvette carefully and watch out for wayward elves and slippery reindeer "stuff" on the roads! Drive your Corvette and "Save the Wave!“
