PREVIOUS SCENARIO Since the ancient times, the kings used tohave as many as 200 wives , social evils likedowry, sati, child marriages and traditions likedudhpiti have been haunting the Indiansociety. Women were not given importance, respectand education. They were merely consideredas a tool to give birth to children and continuetheir family tree. 4. PRESENT SCENARIO Since independence, efforts have been madeto educate women on variouspolitical, economical, social issues. Traditions like dudhpiti & sati areeradicated and government is making effortsfor upliftment of women. But still practices like dowry & child marriagesare observed. 5. NEED OF WOMENEMPOWERMENT Women are the back bone of the society. If women are not empowered and developedup to the mark then the progress of thesociety will be hindered. EDUCATE A MAN AND YOU EDUCATE ANINDIVIDUAL; EDUCATE A WOMAN AND YOUEDUCATE A FAMILY. 6.
